Good match on the whole. Tsitsipas' level from the back of the court was consistently solid throughout, though he experienced several service dips. I was impressed by Medvedev mixing things up and adapting to swing momentum back into his favour but ultimately he needed to play too far above his base level to be able to hang with Tsitsipas, and by his final few service games he was reliant on zoning on his serve and could hardly get a look in off the ground.

Tsitsipas' issue going forwards for me will be his lack of variation. He has become extremely good at playing the way he does - playing great serve+1s, controlling points with his forehand, using his fine offensive movement to finish off points in the forecourt - but I don't think he has an extra gear he can transition into to be able to take on one of Nadal or Djokovic (both of whom will have noted Medvedev's effective use of drop shots and will plan for any potential final accordingly). His base level is enough against the likes of Medvedev and potentially Zverev but he will need to unlock something new and different within himself to have a chance at the title.

Well, since Rome, Novak's been ahead but over the course of the whole clay season Tsitsipas has clearly been the superior player. His only stumble was in Madrid – everywhere else he's taken care of business and only barely lost to Nadal and Djokovic. He's been tearing through his French Open draw with ease as well, and has yet to be down two sets to love against anyone.
Regardless of might haves, Novak HAS been the 2nd best player this clay season.
Novak also beat Titspas in Rome.
How can anyone argue that Titspas has been better than Novak this year on clay?

You are on a run but I hope that it ends here lol.

I think if it is Novak v Rafa that Novak will win at least 1 set. I also think Zverev has a 50-50 shot of taking out Stefanos.

I do agree that whether it is Aleksander or Stefanos v Rafa in the final they will have a little chance of causing upset.

The only question mark i have over Rafa is if someone can win one of first 2 sets against him and even say get him into say 4-4or 5-5 in 4th set even if they are trailing 2-1 in sets. He has been suspect for fatigue and making more errors as he gets tired in last 12 months or so. If someone could push him to 5th set we could see an upset.

The big question is can anyone win the first set against Rafa as if they don't he never loses at the French Open.

What was the conversation between Medvedev and the umpire during that 3rd set? I had to watch it without sound. Seemed to go on for a bit.

CHOKE JOB from the World #2. Was 40-0 in the final service game. Gets broken and then serves underhand on MP.
Also bottled up on so many breakpoints/Set points when he could have turned the match.
Got out served, out winnered and outplayed by the world #5.

Novak PERMANENTLY DESTROYED Medvedev in the AO 2021 final. Med has not been the same player since. He chokes like a little girl.
Dude. He was severely outclassed today, he did well to make the sets relatively close.

I'll play devil's advocate:

Tsitsipas had a championship point in Barcelona against Rafa 6 weeks ago. He came very, very close to beating him. Whereas in Rome, Djokovic lost the third set 3-6 and wilted at the end.

Ultimately it's a moot point since neither Tsitsipas or Zedrot will win more than 10 games against Rafa on Sunday.

He looks to be straining and playing above his level. Not sure how long Med keeps it up.
Still feel Titspas is better and wins in 3 or 4 sets.

That is all true. But Novak beat Titspas in Rome.
And the fact is that if Titspas couldn't even beat Novak in Masters, he will get CREAMED in a slam match. Probably won't even win a set.
So yeah, Titspas is a distant third favorite for the title. Can't imagine him winning unless Nadal AND Novak BOTH have an injury.

Couldn't watch this because of the timing but I am so glad Tsitsipas is into his third consecutive semi - the guy is surely a force now!!

How has novak been the second best clay courter this year???? Novak won one tournament and that was one of the weakest draw in the history of tennis. Tsitsipas won with a better draw at Lyon and Tsitsipas also won MC and stretched Nadal at Barca. Please think rationally about this. In addition to belgrade novak reached Rome F which is by far his best clay court tourney and he narrowly beat Tsitsipas. Only beating Tsitsipas does not make you the better clay court player. Tsitsipas is miles ahead of Novak in achievements this clay season and its not even close. So you think just because Kyrgios beat Novak 2 times that Kyrgios is better than Novak?

I predict it is going to be a fun match to watch for sure, but I don't see Zverev winning. Tsitsipas will make the final in whatever it takes.
I also predicted this semi couldn't decide out of Zverev vs Tsitsi the winner their match will be so close!!

I remember all of your predictions and so far all right.

I got 2,4 and 5 as same as that of yours. We discussed about Roger reaching 4R, it happened. I expect Nadal to beat Djokovic in SF and I also expect Tsitsipas to make final. Never thought Thiem will lose that early.. expected him to reach min QF against Zverev..

And regarding Rafa, I feel he will drop a set to Tsitsipas.. either first or second, mostly second.. but winner will be Rafa, never in doubt

Blq, blq, blq, Tsitsipas can't beat this one, cause he lost in x match, nonsenses. That's not how tennis work. And Tsitsipas is getting better and better every single day.
The lost to Nadal was after a match point, and a super close match. Hard to see Nadal winning another such close one. Also Tsitsipas acknowledge that he was way too passive on the important points, which was his problem.
Against Djokovic Tsitsipas was dominating the first day, rain delay, and on the second day Djokovic was at his max(so far i didn't see him play better tennis), and Tsitsipas was absolutely not at his best. Hes service game was garbage all over. He barely put first serve in the times he was broken. His serve game was garbage, as well as his second.
If he was serve better he would 100% won that match. And Tsitsipas was a bit tired. He played all the tournaments before that, and won MC as well.
To be fair if Tsitsipas somehow manage to win against Zverev(easiest draw), as Tsitsipas energy looks to drop after a set or two, and he somehow manage to do so in 3-0 sets, and Tsitsipas energy level on the final is close to 90% i give him 50-50 chance against Djokovic, and 30-70 against Nadal.
