The guys criticizing Tsitsipas for crying after winning a SF have probably never dug as deep physically for anything as he did in that final set alone.

Pathetic.

Everybody’s emotions are different. Clearly he’s a sensitive guy. He wears his heart in his sleeve. Hope he brings something good to the table on sunday.

Congratulations to Tsitsipas.....He shouldn't think that his work his done.....We have seen how the movie plays for a first time finalist.....Would be great if he shows some fight in the finals

Sometimes I wonder if some people here just enjoy talking badly about young players, I bet you even if Stefanos straight setted Nadal Sunday, you will have people still calling him a mug, because after all it's just old Nadal you know

I can see that but he’s 22. He’s not going anywhere. He’s got the game to reach other finals. If he’s this way i can imagine what sunday will be like for him.
If there is a letdown in his level, then I agree with you. But just making assumptions on how he'll react in a final just because he let out his emotions is jumping the gun

Exactly. Bunch of fat keyboard warriors that was calling him finished at 0-40. The real mugs are here on the forum!!!!

If he didn’t show some emotion I would be surprised. He has really shown his best this clay season and he has much to be emotional about, especially being able to hold it together to pull out this win when it looked iffy for a bit. I have criticised him in the past for being an underachiever, but he is proving me wrong now. I’m delighted about that. I enjoy his game although he can definitely improve a few things. His quirkiness is not off putting to me at all. With the right mentality he can definitely win slams plural. How many remains to be seen. I think the future of tennis in in good hands. Lots of great rivalries to come and that will keep interest after the big 3 are gone.

Medvedev the only one who's played a good final (unless you count Thiem as this gen)
Yeah great, 2 years ago he managed to take a couple sets off a tight Nadal before then collapsing in the 5th once the pressure was on. He's still a disappointment the majority of the time despite his too cool for school attitude that this place gobbles up.

If he can win a set it would be a victory. We shall see.
Doubt it....Obviously they aren't as talented as the Big 3...But they've shown that they can dislodge them at their advanced age....Major issue is nerves and mental weakness....And that's been the problem plaguing the sport the last 5-6 years....it is inexplicable really.....It would be amazing if Stefanos wins a set....

Well that’s the problem and why tennis after they leave could be bleak. You wanna see them finally take the mantle.

He is f****** 22 and improve by huge margin every single year. If anyone wanna cry on someone cry at THIEM WHO IS 28, Raonic, Dimitrov, even Medvedev who is 25.
I can bet with anyone on here that Tsitsipas will have at least 2 GS titles when he turn 25.

Well, we've all witnessed how Thiem, Medvedev, and Zverev perform in slam finals. Now, we'll see how Tsitsipas does.

Well it is a small place ... but it’s just outside the Greek capital on a beautiful double horse bay, some serious money in that area now, plus some very expensive hotels
So happy to see him win today !

Who cares though? what does it mean he is from a small town? All tennis pros come from NYC or Tokyo?
The small town boy narrative only works if you were poor and had no connections.

Well to be frank he was , and there was no support in Greece for his career, it was all family sacrifice but there are quite a few other on the tennis circuit like this,
Your a hard man , he was just expressing his emotions

I don't mind the emotion. But the small town boy trope is a bit much. He was well connected in the tennis world and had plenty access to coaching, etc. The small town was not a barrier for him. I know I am picky with his words maybe and maybe something I don't get in his meaning. But to me when you say you are from a small town it is saying you were a nobody but you made it in your industry, whatever. If your parents are in tennis, how was the small town a hindrance? And you don't need to have a big tennis county to be successful any longer. The good kids get picked up and end up at academies.

Whatever, I was actually just pointing out that where he comes from, is now quite an exclusive and expensive place to live. But in tennis circles Greece does not have any history of / or support for young players, or so called great coaches,
