Courier picked Novak over Nadal on the tennis channel - says night conditions will help Novak.
I don't know if I agree with him, but I do fell that the match will be a lot closer than most people think.
RG 2020 F was an anomaly, as much as AO 2019 F was.

Wait a minute where has it been confirmed that it’s a night match? I doubt it’s a night match. The semis should be in the afternoon period.

I truely believe the match-ups between those 3 don't matter at all. I think any one of them can win vs the others.
This might be true outside clay. But this is clay. Titspas is CLEARLY superior to Medvedev and Zverev both on this surface. Sure if it were hardcourts, I would change the order.
All things being equal, Titspas should get to the final. Now he might choke etc, but in general Titspas' game works better on clay and he has been FAR MORE IMPRESSIVE than Zverev and Medvedev in RG 2021.
I don't even like Titspas, but it's hard to deny his chops on clay.

The match will be closer than what we saw at RG 2020, I am in full agreement there. And yes, the match is most likely the second match on, so that helps Djokovic somewhat to have a little more a stronger showing.

What was it that Courier saw that made him say that?

Tennis channel broadcast said late in the evening around 8/9 local time. Their commentators said cooler night conditions will play to Novak's liking.

Well part of it is bias and part of it is making a daring pick. He wants to go against the conventional wisdom.
But Courier is also a big Novak fan. He has said MULTIPLE times that Novak will exceed both Nadal and Fed's slam total.

I was watching the Nadal vs Sinner match yesterday. The commentators were Courier and Jason Goodall.
Courier was HARDLY talking about the match. He was constantly saying that Novak is the only one who can match Nadal even on this surface.
Instead of talking about what Sinner was doing, he was just talking more about Novak and how Novak would have done this or that vs Nadal. How Sinner doesn't have the speed, movement, defense and serve of Novak etc etc.

What I said but which is first will be decided the day before.

And why do you think Nadal v Djokovic will go first, when firstly their match is the bigger ratings draw, also that Djokovic will clearly have less than 48 hours rest, while Tsitsipas/Medvedev and Zverev would not have played for three days.

Fair enough, but then his opinion looks to be a little biased then, and not one I personally would put too much weight on.

Poor serving from both players in the first. I was disappointed with Zverev handing over the break right back at 5-3. These are the situations Nadalovic will revel in. In the second, once Zed got the first break, I saw ADF with his towel over the face if im not wrong he was crying. Probably he was burnt out after 5 sets in r3 and 4 in r4. After that it was a cake walk for Z.

I don't put weight on anyone's opinion. At the end of the day, it's the players who have to play the match and win or lose.
Everyone could say whatever they want, but no one can predict the future.
Nadal-Novak have played each other so many times, that there are no secrets. It just depends on the form that particular day, luck etc. We pick at TTW because it's fun to speculate I guess.

Interesting take on Citypass superiority over Zedraffe on clay in general and at RG’21 in particular.

Tsits does own a 1-0 h2h on clay but it’s from two years ago in three sets at Madrid’19. Slight Ad to The Greek.

The 2021 clay season is a bit closer in results with both winning a M1K but Zed’s win is more recent and in Madrid conditions that more closely resemble RG conditions during the day. Tsits has won at M-C early and Lyon late in conditions that more closely match RG late day/evening. A slight Ad to Zed at day and Tsits at night.

If you take away a redlining Otte’s two initial sets, Zedraffe hasn’t lost a set and just won consecutive matches featuring twin baguette sets. He is peaking at money time in the tournament. Tsits could match that peak if he crushes Meddie later on. His lone set dropped was to big serving Isner. Zedraffe has such a weapon when he is on, which he has been down the stretch this tournament Call this a wash unless it’s a brutal beatdown of the #2 seed

IMO, this is a too close to call matchup until after the match tonight. If it happens it has the potential to be the match of the tournament.
