This is the second consecutive week that they're facing each other, and their 3rd overall match.

Their match Last week was an extremely strange one; Alcaraz looked to be on his merry way in set 3 with a 5-2 lead on serve with a few match points and then bloody fell apart to lose next 4 games, only to regain composure at 5-6, level the scoreline and win the deciding set in a tiebedbreaker.

Who do you think would be victorious this time? Alcaraz has dropped a set in all 3 of his matches so far, but seems to be finding his groove, particularly towards the end of the matches.

Hope we get a good one.

I hope Alcaraz doesn't drop a set this time and wins in straight; he could be facing Djokovic or an inspired Zverev next so can't afford to lose so much of his fuel before the bloody final.
I think he should pull out tbh. If he wants to defend his USO title, he shouldn’t bother to play the final. Similar to what Naomi did in Cincinnati 2020, and she won the title 3 weeks later

Carlitos en dos. Contrary to the prevalent theory that he is burning himself up, I think he is playing himself into form nicely. I look forward to another Djokoraz final.

I personally don't think chickening out would be a good option, he is a physical beast unlike Naomi.
However I do think he needs a bit more clutch play on those break chances.

Yeah I agree, but I think the longer he stays in this tournament it’s hurting his chances of a USO defense. Anyways he’s 20 and probably a fully charged battery when the USO starts

Alcaraz has been struggling a bit. I think he can make it in 3 but wouldn’t be shocked by a Hurkacz victory.

I'm more concerned about his struggles on breakpoint opportunities than his stamina tbh.

This should another fun match. They played close matches in the last 2 meetings. I see another close one here as both guys playing well. Alcaraz in 3 sets!

Think Hurkacz with his serve on these faster courts (and Alcaraz’s current form) will edge things in a tight three sets. Then gets squashed in the final.

I think Alcaraz will lose. He has been playing like crap all week long (last week too), while Hurkacz has been on fire. I pick Hurkacz to win in 2 or 3 sets.

Any good player playing to his strengths, and feeling the ball can potentially outplay any good player who is not doing so. The very best players will always try to fight and win even when not at their best and can often do so.

CA has not been feeling his game of recent ad looked off piste. Despite his superb abilities, he is still finding his way and the question is whether the enormous emotional and physical energy required to contest matches, can be summoned when needed. When energy goes, so does confidence and the ability to call up a decent game. There are no foregone conclusions.

Carlos has been in lousy form since Wimbledon. Hubi could get the upset, but we all know he usually folds in pressure moments, so Carlos in three. But Novak takes the title tomorrow.
For sure. I still think Carlos won’t defend his USO. Likely will fall to Sinner/Djokovic

I’d agree, BUT, there’s nothing but mugs til the final and then he gets an old man. So, I say play your little heart out tiny smalls. Lol

You're calling Carlos lousy for losing a few sets and still charging ahead while your guy Holger has been the biggest disappointment of anyone this whole season.

He’s been underwhelming, but he’s still top 8 in the race. I do think he will build upon this year, but right now he’s not a slam contender

Yeah, let's use the old man excuse now to cover for Djoker now that he's got an actual rival on the scene, while completely ignoring the fact that Djoker is demolishing everyone else. :-D
