Atlanta 2017 ATP General Discussion

“I do not think I could rank one over another,” Eubanks said when asked to compare his first ATP win with clinching his first ATP-level quarterfinal. ” The whole situation is pretty crazy. Both of the wins lumped up together, it makes for a pretty remarkable week. I am just hoping I can keep it going. Then you can be asking what is better your first, your second or your third.

“Yeah, pretty much sums it up (as) best you can,” Eubanks said when hit with the “dream week” question. “It is like a dream come true. I am hoping I am not waking up anytime soon.”

 (You have to like a guy who has that kind of hopefulness and humor.)

Harrison is up next. Can Eubanks keep knocking off his more established fellow members of the American contingent?

And the dream ends.....Harrison easily handles Eubanks 61 62.
I hope Eubanks keeps developing. He has potential and it will interesting to see if he can parlay that into a reasonable pro tennis career.

Edmund 4-1 in 2nd. Sock getting exact same MTO as Edmund on his right arm.

Huge match for Kyle; he's got Harrison for the SF. Beat Isner last year at US Open and probably can handle Muller should he come through.:p

Sock was ready to roll up a break until the fan in the stands needed medical attention. Then he came out flat and Edmund won nine of last ten games. Bad result for Sock, he should know how to deal with delays.

sorry if this has been addressed already but why does the Atlanta website say this match is on ESPN2, when it is not?

I've been looking too. Sucks that ESPN leaves doubles coverage off. Especially when the Bryans are playing.

How has Ryan played this week? I can never take him that seriously, but it's nice to see him in another final. Imagine if he won multiple titles this year.

How impressive is it that Isner has basically won or been a finalist in this entire tournament's inception except one iteration?

Great play from Isner to defeat Muller.
Muller looked a bit flat but take nothing away from Isner, his return game and serving esp in that last gene at 0-40 was great.
Well done big boy.

Got Edmund v Harrison to catch up on now.
My money is on Edmund.

I'm looking forward to the final now.

Hehe, well done Harrison. Not straight forward. He always looks a bit pissed off even when winning. Nice enough guy in interview.
Edmund needs to reel it in a bit. Skyward with many a forehand.

All Am. final then.

Do they have to make such a dreadful racket at every end change. The gobby compare must be heard blocks away :)

it has to do with TV right in USA. USA is full of Greedy selfish exploitive americans,,, Capitalism at its best. so when network like ESPN has rights to certain tournament,,,, NO other Live streaming or tv service can provide Coverage in USA. Only that network that has TV rights with that tournament can...........Twisted,,,,i know because nobody really cares at all about Tennis coverage on TV anymore in USA except the hardcore fans like us.

Isner vs Harrison...I don't know who to cheer for because I don't really like either of them. I'm glad that the American fans will get an American champ though.

So, congrats to the Big Fella on winning back to back titles in successive weeks, his 4th Atlanta title, 12th ATP title and 12th at 250 level. However, I do think it's high time he made a move on something a bit bigger. After all, this is a guy who has made multiple Masters finals so he should be good for at least a 500 or 2.

Commisserations to Harrison who kept it close and had real chances going up an early mini-break in both tie-breakers but couldn't hold on. He has definitely improved as a player. I was impressed.

sir john seems to be ok with his status as a big bloke who wins little titles..they have all been atp250s haven't they ?.

nothing wrong with that I suppose, he gets some wins, then a trophy, a decent payday at the end. prob more fun than losing rd 3 of bigger tourneys.
