Anyone else notice Djokovic kicking his leg at the end of the match like he had tweaked something or was about to start cramping?

Deserved victory for Dimitrov, great play and fight from him today, a big step forward for him (maybe even a breakthrough win) which is good for tennis, young guns stepping up is always welcome.

Tough loss for Novak but the one that I think will do him good in the long run, he obviously needs rest.

Rest? He has hardly played since March bar MC.

Jesus, this crowd was pretty brutal against Djoko.

Only turned in for the last few games but this looks like a big win for Dimitrov.

Was Djokovic injured or something? In the games that I did see he seemed out of sorts.

He was down 2-4 40-30 in the 2nd set when he rolled his ankle (again) and had an MTO. Then at 5-5 it was Grigor's turn who had cramps. Djokovic pulled him all around the court and did brutal DS in the next game. The crowd, who was already on Grigor's side already, turned more harsh towards Djoker.

Griiiiiiigooooooooorrr!!!!

YES, YES, YES!!!

Love it. Key win for him after what happened at Indian Wells. Held his nerve. Great to have a new player in the mix and an all courter, single backhander to boot.

Will he face Wawrinka next? Could be another Epic!

Nothing Wrongovic.

Congrats Dimitrov, hopefully a sign of things to come, 2013 could be his break out year he has challenged 3 of the big 4 and finally overcome one of them despite battling cramp.

He needs to work on his fitness though, the majors will be even more physically demanding.

Dimitrov only served at 52%. If he improves his first serve percentage, he'll make his life a lot easier and might do even better against the top players.

What could've been...

Dimitrov could've beaten Nadal in Monte Carlo
Now he's beaten Djokovic in Madrid
Then he can beat Federer in Rome...

Then he can beat them all and win RG.

Looks like RNadal will have to pummel NDjokovic for his 20th win over NDjokovic in Rome. RNadal can still win his 55th title AND continue to extend his record for most Masters 1000 titles in world history. And RNadal can get a 20th win over RFederer. :p

Dimitrov's legs were cramping at the end of the 2nd set and all of the 3rd set.

Good that Nole lost this, I actually hoped he'd tank to someone in Madrid.

Not saying Grigor didn't play well but Nole was subpar and upcoming schedule is tight.
And thanks God I won't have to watch this crowd again.

Oh man early round, but big confidence win, it's all mental with him, now he knows he can beat the best in the world, come on, future is big!

And his game is similar to someone else that I like ;)

I hope he truly starts to make true on the hype he's received. Someone that plays like Roger, would be great for the future of the sport.

Oh, and he has a one handed back hand.

And can handle both Novak and Ralph on clay.

I doubt Dimitrov has the nerves to beat his personal god.

I'll never understand why mods are turning a blind eye when it comes to NSK, he isn't even trying to hide the fact that he has multiple accounts (he constantly repeats the same phrases in several of them).

There were a few threads which were exactly the same as well. I pointed it out, linked them, and all that happened was that they got removed with NO action taken against the accounts. I'm starting to wonder what's going on.

Others across the net contribute to subpar play.

What was CMM's decision?

Dimmy's first win against a #1 ranked player. May that be the first of many.

As much as I would love to see Novak kicking Nadal's @ss in a final again, I'm not disappointed at all with this result.

With that said, Dimitrov has a lot to improve on his fitness, if he's already cramping with no more than two sets played, that doesn't bode well for his Grand Slam results.

Saw the last set, Djokovic was really playing poorly and didn't show any urgency like he usually does.
Dimitrov was good there but nothing spectacular either.

Djokovic will be fresh for the final push on clay.

Intense match! This can be a landmark in Dimitrov's career. By the time he is 25 and has put some serious work in his endurance he is starting to look like a very promising prospect.

I wouldn't put past the obnoxious Spanish crowd in Madrid to be hating on Djoker because nowadays he owns Nadal's @ss, and to also favor Dimitrov because he is a new face.

But I insist there may be a good amount of Bulgarians in attendance, too, there are 35.000 of them in Madrid. I guess we'll see as the tournament progresses how the crowd reacts in further Grigor's matches.

You just have to admit now that Grigor plays like a top 3 player! He is ready to win a big tournament if not Grand Slam then at least some of the Masters 1000 series!

No1e needs work on his ankle, he was not at his best today, He'll peak in clay court season at Roland Garros- French Open, this is slam he wants to get under his belt.

From another thread ;)

Excellent!

It will provide for some really exciting tennis.

Hoping for Dimitrov to make Djokovic's life difficult in their match.

Needless to say, hoping for Federer to find a spell of good form and kill the field.

Now, Federer has to keep his part of the deal.

Fed will win this tournament now. I am upset.
What? Lol. Rafa will win his 2nd master and 5th title of the year. It will also be his 7th straight final. Time to rejoice my friend. This is also an excellent opportunity for Murray to finally reach his 1st clay final (although I wouldn't bet on it of course).

I hope so, I'd love for him to win it.

I like the spelling of No1e :)
