So... semi is behind... Agassi lost to Fed again: 4:6, 3:6 or something like this...

So ahead is the second in the history their match; Fed-Nadal. Do you remember the first match between them; exactly same place Miami but a year ago - 2004 - ashaming defeat of Federer...3:6, 3:6.

What is this time ? Will be able talented doctor of arts Federer to overcome this unbelievably running left-handed young boy at age 19 ? Not sure, don't know, this young man runs very fast... but Fed plays more clever tennis... hot final !!!

Rafa would prefer to play Agassi. But I don't think he's going to get his wish.

Here's his interview, where he talks about playing Federer. And sorry, but it seems the pirates pants are here to stay. *lol*

R. NADAL/D. Ferrer
6‑4, 6‑3

An interview with:

RAFAEL NADAL

THE MODERATOR: Rafael at 18 years 10 months, the youngest player to reach the final here in the tournament's 21‑year history. He is looking to become the first Spanish player to win the tournament as well on Sunday.

Questions for Rafael.

Q. What do you call your pants? Are they pedal‑pushers?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, it's okay. I like the shorts. It's comfortable. It's okay. I gonna play with the shorts all year, no.

Q. What do you call them?

RAFAEL NADAL: Pirates.

Q. You've won 15 matches in a row. You're coming off two straight titles. How confident are you that you're on top of your game right now going into the championship here?

RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah, I was play very good in South America. I think won the last tournaments is important for my confidence, no?

Here, I begin the tournament, the first matches, a little bit nervous against Schuettler. The second match is not easy against Verdasco. He was play very good the first match against Roddick. I only try play my best tennis and fight every match.

I am very happy with my tennis, no, because I am improve every day. I think today is not my best match, but against Ljubicic and Johansson, especially, I play very, very good match.

Q. In Copa Davis, why did you not play singles?

RAFAEL NADAL: I don't know. In Copa Davis I think is good decision for the captain. Verdasco, he was playing very, very good here in indoor carpet. And for me, is, well (completed answer in Spanish)...

Q. Will you at all, if it is Federer in the final, be thinking back to that evening last year here?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I think every match is different. And this is I have another year. I have 19 now...

Q. 18 (laughter).

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I have 18 now (laughing).

Last year I have 17. I really think I play one of my best matches. I think I improve in my shots and my serve. But the last year against Federer, I play one of my best matches in my career, no? I play unbelievable, and I really hope I play the same match this year...

TRANSLATOR: To play as well as he did last year, but also with improvements.

Q. Many players, when they play Federer, are intimidated, think that even when they go out on court.

RAFAEL NADAL: Normally, no? Federer won all matches. I hope Federer don't play one of his best matches. And if he don't play very, very well, and I play one of my best matches, I think I have a little bit chance, no, in case Federer win.

Q. So last year you played one of your best matches, but he didn't play one of his?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I think he don't play good match last year, no, because he was the No. 1 and he is the No. 1. And if he play very good, and I play very good, he won (smiling).

Since most of the forum has now caught on to and ignores Aykhan, he's increasingly desperate for attention.

Your prediction is becoming a reality, almost. Agassi trailing 4-6, 3-4 serving....
Good luck!

Two hours before the match Agassi and Federer came to me and asked how to play them, what must be the score. I told them either 3:6, 4:6 or 4:6, 3:6 depending on who want to serve first.

OMG.....dude, you just predicted correctly. At first i thought you really were announcing the score post-match.

P.S. I can't believe the ATP leaked the script out...... :)

Seriuosly i dont like Akon but who the fu*ck cares? All of you knew Federer was going to win hell i knew it from the third game of the first set. Get a life and stop b*tching like little babys about spoilers. Its not like its going to make any difference on who wins or not. W/e Federer is going to win the final we all know that. Continue his boring dominance.

I think you guys should be sh*tting your pants that Aykhan predicted the match perfectly, instead of seeing it as another opportunity to lynch him.

Aykhan, do you have some statistical program or something? daniel_rst must be proud, or jealous depending on his personality. And if you guessed it correct from pure luck, please admit it Aykhan. Try predicting the Monte Carlo final for kicks, let's see if you have any consistency.

Rafter,

It was not pure luck only, also a little understanding of the situation. I made conlusion based on the following (and making such a conclusion was very easy):

1. Fed will win, he is more diversified tennis-player than Agassi because he is combining net play with base-line play while Agassi in my opinion is only base-liner. I don't go in disputes here.

2. Fed is much more faster since he is younger than Agassi.

3. Agassi didn't complete his participation at IndianWells so he is in good condidtion and is not tired.

4. Agassi has firm resolution to win and will do his best because he lost to Fed already 6 matches from 2003 consequently and this makes him nervous.

As a conclusion match must be tough, Fed must prevail but not so evidently, so he will win with minimal advantage. What is minimal advantage - 1 time breaking of the opponent service (tie-break is not considered as advantage, it is equal game), so the score must be 4:6 or 3:6. That is.

Wasn't Miami 2005 the first meeting of Nadal and Fed?

Vamos return to the origins 2017! *fingers crossed*

If Ralph plays in the same form he did against Sock he's not gonna beat Rog.

Those easy volleys and putaways that Chocked put into the net and sailed a hundred feet will not happen the same way.

That also assumes Lord Fedr is in Better form than his match against Bautista Agut.

Yes but Rafa is slightly improving match by match and I think/hope he'll play one of his best matches of the year so far when it matters in this tourney.

Can't complain about the draw either, Sela-Kohlschreiber-Mahut-Sock-Fognini is a path to a 250/500 title, for sure the easiest draw he's had in Miami.

Think that from the 4 remaining on the other side, the court suits Rafa best and if he was to meet Roger I think he'll edge out a win considering how Roger has been playing/serving and how slow the court is.

Well even then, Kohlschreiber was capable of beating Ralph but just went back to regular LOLschrieber mode and mugged out. Mahut actually played him tight. A few missed volleys and it couold have gone to a third in Mahut's way. Sock was up a break in the second and had break points for another break. Choked them away especially when Nadal gave him a second chance at a pass with a sitter volley that Sock pushed into the net good god that was ugly. If Father Fabio is still on fire and captures the USO magic Ralph may not even make it to the Final. But if Lord Fedr makes it to the final I have no doubts he will edge Rafa 60/40 especially because the Men's Semis are on Friday so he gets an extra day off if he makes it to Sunday unlike Super Saturday at Indian Wells where they play the next day. Lord Fedr just has to get through the next two days. An easy win over Berd and he can go full speed against either of the Young Guns.

Also remember, Fed said he isn't playing Monte Carlo, so I have no doubts he's going to give it his best and leave it all out there this week.

I'm sure Nadal will be there. But will Federer? Kyrgios or Zverev are not small task.

I think he will beat poor Berdych.

If Fed has a bad serving day and Rafa manages to hit those CC FHs deep fairly consistently, Rafa has a chance winning his first Miami title.

However, as we all know, the chances of only one of those two things happening is significantly higher than it is for both, and the likeliness of neither happening is arguably highest.

So if they both make the final, I predict a Federer win in two tight sets, or a win in three with one of the sets being a blowout.

People getting ahead of themselves again...

Feds will have to pass through Zverev/Kyrgios, and neither of those players is a scrub (yep, I do count out Berdych for obvious reasons LOL - if he manages to lose against Birdsh!t, you know for sure Feds has been tanking :D ).
Fognini might be able to repeat USO 2015... you just don't know as of yet.

Thread might well serve as the perfect jinx.

Nadal and Federer are guaranteed #4 and #5 on the rankings with this final. The winner getting #4 and the loser getting #5.

Just a little more until the big 4 is reunited. Though, technically, with this, the big 4+1 has been reunited. (Or the big 3+2, if you prefer.)

Amazing the same thread title still applies after 12 years.

Win or lose, Fedal will come back into top 5 on the rankings. The winner takes no.4 spot. True legends they are.

Another thing that amazes me in this elapsed time space is how Nadal hasn't managed to win the Miami masters yet. It should have been one of his best hard courts to perform at several moments in his career. The ball may not fly as well as it does on other tournament court conditions, but there was a time when defense and footspeed were some of the biggest aspects to Nadal's game.

Add to that, that this tournament always had an important timing given it's the tournament that started the preparation for Nadal's clay court season; and it must be quite special for him because it's the tournament where he got his first win against Federer in their first meeting.

More than a couple reasons why it would be a special tournament for Rafa and a significant personal achievement for him, yet it has managed to elude him all this time. It would be very fitting were Rafa to win today, and against no other than Roger Federer.
