Is there any new tech from Prince that could potentially be incorporated into the Phantom range? I saw parallel drilling on the Graphite 97?
I’m not sure but what I think they might need to do is to clean up the range. Maybe the 93’s might need to become a 96 and with the others they could intensify the cosmetics more,

I was thinking getting one as a control-oriented-98 sq inch racket. The 18*18 a la Dimitrov and the sligthly thicker beam at 12 o clock could work for my flat hitting. I don't play competitive tennis, just looking for interesting sensations when hitting, not stiff rackets. If you can, share a picture of it being strung, so I can see the spacing of the strings
Maybe I can post one strung compared to the spacing of one of 16x19 racquet sometime (although I sent my racquet away for repair, it will probably be a week until I can take pictures of it strung again). It's fairly open, I lot of people say it's in-between the spacing of a 16x19 and an 18x20, I don't agree with this at all, it is very open, not at all like an 18x20. I think this also has to do with the fact that the hoop is much more round and the spacing is quite uniform. The racquet is very soft, very stable, the only aspect that you may not like from a control aspect is that it is fairly powerful, especially compared to say the phantom 100x (18x20). Launch angle is probably a bit higher than something like that as well.

I'd like to see them start catering us with reissues or some new interesting offerings instead of rolling out a new pj, colab or not, every month.

Head released the PT 2.0 and will soon give us a PC 2.0.
Wilson rolled out Clash, Shift and Pro Labs.
Babolat is selling Pure Aero Rafa.

Nearly the entire Phantom range are 'classic' racquets.

Prince are a much smaller concern than Head, Wilson and Babolat - they don't even sponsor Lucas Pouille and letting him play unpaintjobbed and stenciled at RG where hes getting good publicity, and let the world #1 go.
They refreshed the Tour lineup towards the end of last year (fairly successfully by most accounts), TW have suggested the Phantoms are in the works, best not to have the same expectations for them as you might with the bigger companies - the collabs etc... pay for the new lines i'm sure

My racquet is the Prince Tour 100p ATS. Tonight I had a chance to demo the Tour 98. My head to head comparison was limited by the fact that the racquets were strung with different strings and tension, but I’m still giving my 2 cents.
At first, the 98 has a noticeably narrower head. Although it’s a 16x19, it does not look much more open than the 18x20 100p.
The 98 is a tad head heavier but maneuverability was still very good.
The 98 felt a bit more boardy but I suspect it was because it was strung at a higher tension. The 100p felt slightly more comfortable, likely for the same reason. I would say power and spin were relatively similar and the 100p felt a tad more forgiving.
I ended up with a slight preference for the 100p (but I’m obviously more used to it). The 100p feels a little bit « easier » and user friendly, while the 98 may be a little bit more demanding.
That said the difference between these two racquets is relatively minimal IMO. Most people could likely switch from one to the other without much problem. If you dislike one, It may not be worth trying the other.

I use the 100X with Gamma syn gut w/wearguard at 48. I love it like that. I just got an ATS Tour 98 after a demo for a fairly dumb reason. Mostly Racquet acquisition syndrome, because the 100X is the best all around racquet I have used, but I never really connect on a serve. However, I never play sets anymore, just hit 3X/week with a trainer and two different younger guys for fitness, so why do I care about my serve? Wimbledon's not calling :)
And the single best thing about the syn gut? So inexpensive you can try it at 12 different tensions, change it every week, whatever, cause it costs less that sneezing these days

Anyone here using the Phantoms try the racquets with full synthetic gut? Curious on tension etc. using a phantom 100G.

My main racquet is the Phantom Pro 100P (2018). I alternate between Gosen and Prince syn guts. I string the tension at 53lbs. I do have the last version of the Phantom 100P (2020) and that one I string at 50lbs. I tried playing it at 53lbs, but it feels and plays a bit different, so I decreased the tension. It's probably because of the ATS.

When are these guys ever going to come out with a new line of racquets to replace a great middle of the road racquet the O3 white?

Ported... 11.2... 100^2.... comfortable on the arm... Medium power not too much not too little.... 16x19 but denser more controlled string pattern that took gut/poly setups really well.

Sounds like a nice recipe for a racquet that would be attractive to a majority of tennis players and they can come out with a non-ported version for those that prefer it.

They really haven't had anything close since.

If anything Prince did the exact trap they did in early mid 2010s with too many lines and too many racquets again. They need maybe 4 lines, or even 3 like Yonex does. Phantom, Tour and Beast would of been most logical to me. Then you can have your retro/throwbacks that are peridocially released.

Regarding your O3 white, did you ever play with the Turbo Shark MP? A great 100sq in, 11.2oz, 2-3HL with a SW around 328. Really an awesome feeling frame. Those turbo series were some of the best of the last 25 years.

Would be great if Wilson put out the P22 Pro Stock in some form (Pro Labs) that Coric and a few others use, apparently based off an O3 White

Bought the prince vortex's recently on sale at TW for $50 on a whim. Did not expect to like them more than all my current racquets including my ezone 100, ezone 98, tfight 300. Tied with my vcore 95 but for different reasons. It offers so much power and spin. Only tiny gripe is that the launch angle is so damn high but it's still controllable to an extent.

Why are there no replacement grommets for this?

prince japan is releasing a lImited edition graphite 93 (japanese review below). 16x19 but has a cts beam that is 22.5 at the tip

Considering Prince didn't bring the 97 over to the US, I don't have high hopes for this.

Can anyone compare the ATS 98 against Extreme Tour? I find Extreme Tour just a tad stiffer than I like. Wondering whether ATS 98 would provide a similar performance as ET while being more comfortable. I also see numerous review saying the ATS 98 swing weight feels higher than listed spec. What is your ATS 98 SW?

The ATS Tour 98 I test drove last week had a static weight of 324g, and not using a dynamic SW calculator, just the stringway calculator, it had a SW of 309. And honestly, it felt like it had a heavier SW than the ATS Tour 100 I demoed, which had a static of 313 and a SW of 319, using the same calculator.
But I loved it and bought the 98. Both drove the ball better than my Phantom 100X, but in different ways. The 100X still may end up the best volleying racquet I have ever used, but I never felt like I got the sweet spot on the serve, and the 98 gave me that right away. (Not that either serve is going to make anyone faint.)

my guess would be the 98 did indeed have a heavier swingweight. as you are probably aware, the stringway tool does not reliably calculate sw, as two racquets with the same weight and balance can have different swingweights. as someone without a sw machine, i wish it did work!

Yes, bought them both back in April. ET (360+) sw with 14g strings was 315; ATS98 sw with 16.1 gram strings was 330.

As you say, the ET is stiffer, but not uncomfortably so, at least with multifilament!

The ET in stock form needs help, unless your preference is low sw. ATS98 is magical; the combination of low mass/high sw is a new spectrum for me.

I have both. I can confirm that the ATS 98 has a higher swing weight and does feel sluggish when pressed for time. Currently using the Extreme Tour with 3 grams at 12 and feels whippier.

Hello,

I bought a Prince Phantom 100x 305, and added an OG (6 grams), a dampener (2 grams) and a bit of protection tape in the hoop (less than 1 gram). Strings are a hybrid of Solinco Revolution 1.25 and Outlast 1.25.

The racket static weight is now at 329, the balance 32.5, but the swing weight I measured shows 335!!! This swing weight seems way to high for me. Is this normal?

Dug this baby up out of the old stash at my family’s house. Was my last one from the glory days. The Alpha strings in there must be 25+ years old! Probably a 6.5 in absolute terms but given its age, it’s in amazing shape. Time for a tuneup and a test drive for this classic. PGII

How is the spin with the Txt 03 compared to the phantom 100. The phantom 100 is underpowered but it is the most comfortable racket I ever hit. The o3 tour is by far the best o3 rackets ever made for me. Power and spin with great control and amazing touch. I just recently picked up the mid. I have been missing out. The mid does everything better then the mp. It has better control and more power with similar spin and more plow. When the o3 tour mp came out I was a sponsored prince player. I had at least a dozen of them. By the time the mid was released I was too committed.
I also really like the original 03 Tour. I added a lot of lead from 10 to 2 to increase the swingweight. Mine is getting old. I may get the Phantom 100x 03 to replace mine. It is the only thing that looks like it is close to to the 03 Tour.

I did not find the 100x O3 to play the same as the old princes (in my case O3 white). It is much less powerful given the thin beam. It is a very controlled stick and I could see that folks would like it but it is a different stick than the old Prince racquets.
