Rafa Nadal wins the ATP Sportsmanship Award

I think Nadal won because of the work he did after the Mallorca flooding. I mean what does Federer ever do to earn it, other than being GOAT?

Truthfully KAndy has done more good deeds than all of them combined.

Good for both to have recognition in the game from the ATP but it is more important for de Minaur then Rafa (I think has won this award in the past)!

He sacrificed his Paris Masters Title defence in order to help flood victims. That's a big deal. You would not know these things.
He made no such sacrifice. He did not attend Paris, so by chance he was there when the flood hit. He picked up a mop, as anyone would in that position.
... the rusty peak injured mopping bull !

and this is only the beginning:

... keep the awards coming, folks !

You added a funny smiley at the end, so I figured you were kidding. It was a nice joke anyway since he did exceed the time limit many times but they said nothing.

It's your imagination that he "did exceed the time limit many times". I should have added 'Laughing' (at the anti-Rafa campaigners' disappointment).

That's ridiculous. The flooding in Mallorca has nothing to do with it, he won it because:

"Fellow players voted Nadal as the winner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for a second time, recognising the Spaniard for his fair play, professionalism and integrity on and off the court. Nadal also received this honour in 2010. This season, the 32-year-old Spaniard spent 36 weeks atop the ATP Rankings and won five titles, including record 11th titles at Roland Garros, Monte-Carlo and Barcelona. Off the court, Nadal supported flood relief efforts in Mallorca."

Fed is no GOAT either.

Again - embarrassed by Rafa fans.

Just stop the nonsense.

I was thrilled Rafa won. I think Rafa is an ATG. I'm Fedal but on both sides the fans are absolute nuts.

Anyone who thinks that the citation for a sportsmanship award is to do with helping victims of floods and not with fair play and professionalism just doesn't want the facts to get in their way. I would imagine the humanitarian award would be the right one for helping victims of floods.

Here is the ATP's official announcement:

The ATP announced today: “Fellow players voted Nadal as the winner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for a second time, recognising the Spaniard for his fair play, professionalism and integrity on and off the court.
