Stan just seemed to give up. He was defeated after he got broken at the beginning of the third.

federer fan, but wawrinka deserved it. along with some other guys, like tsonga, del potro, gasquet, i hope he can have some good results against roger and the other top players in the near future.

i hope he does too but I doubt it, he had a really good chance today. Last big win I can recall was him beating murray at the 2010 USO

Today was just another example what separates the top 4 to the rest of the ATP... bloody lapdog.

Fed arrogant when waving to the camera, totally disrespected his friend there. Meanwhile, Fed being too nice to Sky, Murray will NEVER be No.1 in the world.

sure, not easy. but i also feel that if the 300 week record wasnt on the line, roger would have lost. i really think stan deserved this. the same way tsonga deserved to win against novak at RG and so on. hope those guys step up. times are a changing, with murray coming in, roger going out (he is going out, dont believe he is staying like this for 2 more years...), nadal coming in and out of injury. i sure hope a little more belief. i think that is key. just that click at that really important point.

It was clear to me that Fed can literally read Stan's shots. He picked the right spot so many times when Stan tried to put the ball away.

Why are you dragging Murray into the conversation yet again? This is a thread about Federer's match with Wawrinka!

You're obsession with Murray and dragging him into every single thread no matter how irrelevent is becoming really tedious and tells us quite a lot about you!

Stan had real chances to win the match in the 2nd set but choked on break point and let it slip away...yet again. Once Fed won the 2nd set breaker you just knew he was going to run away with the 3rd set.

Great performance by Stan in the first 2 sets but, once again, couldn't close it out when it mattered. Sadly but rather typically, he then gave up the ghost and rolled over for Roger in the 3rd set.

So, in the end, it was business as usual for the two top Swiss players!

That's what Fed said to Sky in his post match comments, just stating the obvious my friend. 8)

Had me on the ropes for 2 sets. But hated to see him give in so easily to me in the 3rd. 300, here i come.

^ What did Rogi say anyway about Andy ???

Yes I know what he said. What I want to know is why you feel the need to bring it up in a thread about Fed and Stan's match?

Cause the post match comments are from this very match.

Are you okay? Why are making a big deal out of it?

They discussed about if Fed wanted to be at the top of the year end ranking and he said it would be difficult as he has points to defend and Novak hasn't and included Muzza in being one of the favorites in being the year end No.1.

I mean who would say they don't want to be #1 kind of a stupid question IMO

Congratulations for Duncan Bell and TheFifthSet, they have chosen the best poll option, Wawrinka lost in 3, really choked in that second set!:(

I'm fine thanks and no big deal. I'm just curious why you would suddenly feel the need to pour scorn on Fed's remarks about Murray's chances of getting to #1 in a thread in which everybody else is discussing the ins and outs of his match with Stan Wawrinka as per the subject matter of the thread??

It was tough for me to see Stan lose that way although I'm like the biggest fan of Federer .. but I like Stan!

Anyway, congrats for Rogi for his 300 weeks .. *****' impressive!

I had to work during that entire match and there's hardly anything on YouTube . . .

Looks like they both played well for 2 sets and Wawrinka vanished in the 3rd. I think what rubs Wawrinka the wrong way in these matches is not necessarily the sight of Federer, but the sight of Federer finding his groove. When that happens he almost doesn't bother responding and capitulates. I remember something very similar from their Stockholm match.

Nice number, that 300. Right up there with his biggest achievements.

Thanks for the link -- maybe because Rog didn't give the oportunity, but in the clips I didn't see any of the signature Stan big crosscourt 1HBH's. Also I gather Rog wasn't serving that great but Shanghai doesn't seem to put up match stats.

Another example of Federer's opponent handing him the set/match. It's been a long time since Federer actually won a match via his own good play (rather than his opponents choking).

Plenty examples of Nadal's opponent handing him the set/match because of the frustration that Nadal cheats the system. It's been a long time since Nadal actually won a match via fair play (rather than resorting to MTO's, and delaying tennis).

OH BTW, next time go beat Federer will ya, with your remarkable good play of course.

On Topic.....What awesome get by Wawa in the 2nd. I am pretty schocked that Wawa got a set then again he been in good from from pushing Murray to three the last two times.
