I had picked Fed in 4. But the # of votes for Nadal in 4 was ridiculous.
This is still a great run for Nadal. After all those years of losing early at W, he is finally back in the mix with 2 SFs in a row and looks a lot more like a legit contender.
I hope he can keep it up for a few more years.
Depends on what we consider a killing. Did he kill him in 2015? Because Fed kept it close for the first half, but after that it was one-way traffic.Really? I thought he'd lose today but he played at his best level since Shanghai 2017. RBA won a set against Djoker, but you think Novak will "kill" him on Sunday?
I gave Nadal the nod in what I expected to be a close one because I wasn't sure about the bounce. The grass is slow and is said to still be low bouncing, but I wasn't sure about it. I think if Federer did as well as he did in the rallies today, then the court must still be low (or lowish) bouncing.
What's the thought process behind such a risky strategy?Tactical tank
Lower than the bad challenge that cost him a first MP opportunity? Not for me!When Federer missed that easy smash, my heart sank...
Rafa is mentally done against Fedovic imo. So many uncharacteristic errors..

Fraudulent victory. Just like last year. BYE
After getting broken for the first/second time he thought it was just better to move on to the next set and not waste energy in the second. What's the thought process behind such a risky strategy?
I don't know. I'm not into all this speed debate. I'm just glad Nadal is having deep runs again. A lot more noble to lose against Fedovic than vs Darcis typesI mean his resurgence on grass aligns perfectly with when that statistician's numbers suggest the grass was drastically slowed (again).
Sure Nadal did well to make the semis, but I think he loses to Nick in the 2R if the grass was still like 2014.
With that win, Federer proclaimed "Yeah, you got me at Roland Garros but you're on my turf now!". 12th Wimbledon final for the GOAT! Outstanding!
What's the thought process behind such a risky strategy?
I'm expecting a 4-set Djokovic victory.
I'm certain it is. Most of the balls were at his strike zone, around waist level in contrast to RG where it often was chest level. So much of their matchup has to do with court geometry, always has. With speed taken out of the equation they seem to dominate their preferred surfaces.I gave Nadal the nod in what I expected to be a close one because I wasn't sure about the bounce. Second serve percentage stats is telling.
Second Serve pct points won. Despite Google stats displaying this & not the quoted post.
Nadal 52%
Federer 64%
This stat really reinforces that Fed out base-lined Rafa today . It gives us hope that Fraud will put up a good fight vs Djoker.
p.s , why are winners/unforced error stats so hard to come by? You'd think the official slam websites would follow such vanilla stats of w/ue?
Honestly, I've elected to just go along for the ride at this point in regards to FAA. No expectations, so I don't really have a prediction. Gun to my head, though? General and loose prediction? I'd say a Hewtt/Roddick/Safin/Ferrero type career. Consistently at the top, or at least among the top players, for a long period of time, with 1-3 majors to go with it and a handful of M 1000's. He could accomplish a lot more than that though if his current trajectory is anything to go by.Bit off topic but what is your general and loose prediction for Aliassime's future on tour?

Ok, that makes more sense after maybe the 2nd break. After getting broken for the first/second time he thought it was just better to move on to the next set and not waste energy in the second.
He can always hope for a 2017 USO type draw. If it happened once, it can happen twice...Big fat LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL at anybody who thought Nadal has a chance. His mentality is soooooooooo overrated. He was leading with a minibreak twice, and I never had doubt he will still lose. Such a terrible mentality against Federer and Djokovic outside of clay since this AO 2014. He is never winning another non RG slam again unless his toughest opponent is somebody like Anderson.
At this point, nothing would surprise me from Fed though. Absolutely believe he can win his 9th (but of course I am 100% team Djokovic for attempting to tie Borg's 5.)

How so?Fraudulent victory. Just like last year. BYE
Not to be a party-spoiler for Fed-fans
But Nadal will break back in this set!
I can bet xD
You and everyone else sadly. Me includedI'm expecting a 4-set Djokovic victory.
Not likely to meet at USO IMOPretty awesome that we've had the chance to see these guys play eachother at two majors this year on their best surfaces in likely the twighlights of their careers but yet still in great form. Could we possibly get our first US Open meeting?
I really can't get over the sensibility of this post, lol! What you just said is what I've been trying to preach to certain folks here....to no avail. No such thing as patience here. That's absolutely fair. I'm pretty confident he'll win Slams, and I'd suggest more than 1-3. But there are so many rising talents right now, and how it all shakes out well, who knows? There's only so much room at the top. Felix has some serious things going for him though, and at the top of the list is athleticism and work ethic. It's hard to imagine he wouldn't make the most of what he's been gifted with unless a tragedy strikes such as severe injuries. There's a very good crop coming through IMO, they just need time and we the fans need to be more patient. Lots of players in their late teens and early 20s who could be beasts in 3-5 years time. Likely only a couple of those will convert the high end of such promise - Aliassime is well placed to be one of them.
Lets talk about six baby, oh wait different sport.I know some things. This is Federer's lawn after all.
Well done Roger. Such a good performance...

If only Fed could get Thiem/Anderson instead of Djokovic in the final. A bit unfair how he has to beat both Djokodal at nearly 38 to win this slam while Djokodal have had easy slam wins since USO last year.
And don't let the door hit you on your way out.Fraudulent victory. Just like last year. BYE
I didn't expect Federer to dictate everything from the baseline. He played well on the ground but it was still frustrating to see the serve gets neutralized by how slow this surface was.
