Konta and her pure aero 2019 is definitel favorite to win it all here at Wimbledon... Her groundies right now is better than Serena's

Trolling? I’d imagine she’s like the 6th favorite behind Serena kvitova barty Halep pliskova. Possibly behind svitolina too.

Why do you think so? The serve makes the difference, Konta has a huge edge here and it seems that Stephens other qualities are not enough to compensate for it

Idk I just always picture the sloane who beat Serena. Sadly that form rarely comes out. So maybe it’s just a fluke when sloane plays that well.

I just watched the last set of Konta vs Stephens, and Konta really wasn't playing any kind of magical tactics, she was simply playing fair high percentage, hitting solid serves and groundies and Stephens couldn't even hold a rally - she needs to go back to basics and if she wants any real success in the future she needs to become the aggressor in matches or at least have the ability to mix it up a lot more. She appears swift on the move side to side, but flat footed so a ball out wide and then to the opposite side at a decent pace is pretty much enough to force an error from her. She really just needed to get the ball back in play on Konta's serve a lot more and could have made it more competitive. Truly disappointing display, I really don't know what to say because these are millionaires employing coaches and a team on a good wage and that's the execution?

Well done to Konta 4-0 against Stephens this year, remember didn't Ivanovic have a 7-0 h2h vs Stephens? Something like that. Konta has her number, big time!

Agreed. People are trashing Sloane needlessly. Konta won it more than Sloane lost it.
Konta is form, and apart from the odd blip she's been taking it to opponents since the beginning of the clay season. She's playing aggressively with wicked angles, lots of spin and a powerful serve - if she keeps this up she has a shot at a slam this year - I would love that if she could keep this form for a couple of years and really fill the trophy cabinet. Tennis needs more solid players on the women's side - Barty is proving to be, it'd be cool if Konta joined her and we got some regular winners. From my perspective Sloane lost a lot of points through sloppiness alone, way too many UEs from what I witnessed.

Nah, Sloane IS the better player. There’s a reason she has a slam and JoKo doesn’t. She’s much harder to figure out and unsettle when playing well.

But she’s not that much better that Konta can’t get the best of her when zoned, as she was in this third set.

I personally NEVER seen Konta hit that crosscourt forehand angle better than she did today... It had Massive 4000 RPM spin with Power,,, Sloan knew she was going there but still couldn't catch up with it... ONLY pure aero 2019 can do that.. and that Power on the Konta serve.... Massive now that she has that racket.... You can clearly see the difference

You’re not wrong overall but those were some hard angles from JoKo to contend with. She was solid, no two ways about it.

Trust me, I have been very impressed with her groundies the past few months. Some of the shots she hits, I see no one else replicating.

This is probably how 80% or more of matches are won - far, far more than people summoning "magical tactics," which is why the "magical tactics" matches are so special.

To me SS was playing at 70% pace wise and occasionally ramping it up big time. Maybe her
game plan was to just let Konta make errors?? For 3/4 of the match i felt it was Hers to lose

Where as to me Konta was trying to construct points. I think on grass u need to slash and blast
more. Konta Resolve win her the match.

Konta takes it to Stephens! Did not see the match but what happen in the third set? 6-1! Did Stephens give up?
Konta started to cut out the unforced errors about midway through the 2nd set and kept moving Stephens around - which she doesn't like - and as a result she ran away with it in the 3rd set.

I don't think Stephens has ever particularly liked matches where the opponent starts playing differently halfway through, she likes things to be steady. Konta didn't allow her to play at the pace she wanted.

Its off court issues. From appearances, she's too interested in her personal life than the professional one. She had the ability to do what's supposed to as a player, but it is now a "well, what's next" situation.

I predict a Pliskova- barty/Serena final

I'm not so sure about the Serena side of that.

I'd like to see soo many Manic Monday's matches (I'm very curious about that Gauff/Halep), but my sick leave is ending and I already have a 12h shift to do on Monday. Tough luck.

But for those who can watch it, don't miss Barty/Riske and Kvitova/Konta also. They might end up being the most competitive and well played matches of the day.

Uh why the overly high expectations of Yastremska? Due for a breakthrough? Thought she'd have a good result at the French? She's played just 3 previous slams in her career, she's 19 and she's unseeded. Her breakthrough was making the 3R of the AO this year beating Stosur and Suarez Navarro.

Because she has 3 titles and still 19 compare to other teen even Vondrousova.

Some random Osaka fan account on twitter tweeted that Garbi finally dumped Sumyk.

Haven't seen anything official though, so I don't know if it's true or not.

Gauff could be more aggressive, she has good groundstrokes.
She's letting Hercog dictate too much.
That's what I noticed. She's not like Venus, Serena, Capriati when they were young pounding winners. She's seem a bit more patient without the mind of Hingis.
Cori does have a serve that should get better and hopefully become a little more aggressive.

Not even close. Check rankings and results. The titles yastremska won are small tournaments. Vondrousova already reached the 4th round of the us open and the finals of the French Open. Most people haven’t even heard of yastremska.

I'm not so sure about the Serena side of that.

If Serena somehow survived Barty in the QF and Petra in the semi, I don’t think she’d lose the final. Bottom draw features no one that can truly threaten her on grass imo, at least if she plays her average game.

But I don’t think she’s surviving Barty. Hell, she might not even get there if she repeats the mess from 1 and 2R on Monday.

One way to look at it is that Yastremska is more likely to learn how to control her power than Vondrousova will learn how to do something other than push. Although she also might not ever learn to control her unforced errors.

Traditionally, it's also been difficult for girls to win majors playing defensively. Vondrousova also doesn't seem to be able to redirect pace as well as the defenders who have won slams, at least from what I have seen so far. Generally you will see these types of players are unable to consistently beat top players in a slam.

I don't want to inject an endless debate but I prefer winning a tournament even 250/International than Top 10 win. Especially with inconsistent top 10 that we have. But that's me.

I like Vondrousova, crafty but she need to learn to be more aggressive like fundrazer said. Yastremska is a power player which more likely having a success faster than other type of player. Even facing Woz, I believe she will make through to the last 8. Nothing is sure thing tho.

Grauff taking 'winning ugly' to a whole new level!
I've only seen a few of her matches now but I see all kinds of weaknesses in her game now.
I really don't see what all the hype is about? we have seen a lot of this before Oudin, Gavrilova I think everyone is trying to use media to their advantage. I have only watched a little bit of her but I think she seriously lacks power

Halep is the overwhelming favorite against gauff. Gauff needs to be more aggressive.

I agree.
But then again, can you think of any other player who has employed a consistent loop-d-loop approach against Halep?
It will be interesting to see how Halep adjusts her game to that.
She'd have to be creating pace from scratch all the time. Not so easy.

She has something. Don't forget she won three matches in qualifiers just to get into the main draw. You don't do this cause of luck. She has won 6 matches in a row. 5 of them in straight sets

I just checked Twitter. This is the same person who claimed Venus was going to pull out of RG with an injury and would be out for several months after undergoing surgery.

I think it's a troll post, much as I wish it were true.

Can't say I'm a fan of the order of play with Barty not getting CC and not even getting Court 1 either.
Because is Manic Monday, is understandable that Barty was placed on No. 2 Court. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Serena are multichampions, therefore they deserve a more prestigious court than Barty. Kvitova is two-time Wimbledon winner, will play against the home player, and Halep will face Gauff, the sensation of the tournament, so these matches are more attractive to the organizers than Barty against Riske.
