Looks like Serena is coming back to Eastbourne next week

the rap album must have tanked! someone check the "bargain bin"!

like i said elsewhere, looks like a case of "barfoot" will put you on the shelf for about a year. btw, how long did she get on "double secret probation" for after her little hissyfit at the uso?

I thought I had her in the drama queens section a long time ago. I guess she missed out. She's back in the top 10 and there hasn't been much for drama from her this year. I'll think about it and if her grass season is okay, there's a good chance she escapes.

Meanwhile, Sharapova got transferred to the Drama Queens section. Who knows what she'll do when she serves? That and her moaning is too much.

Pova has had a pretty good year too, suprisingly, shes 4th in the race.

That's a nice one for Serena, Pironkova hasn't been very good since when she beat Venus at Wimbledon.
I think Venus should beat Petkovic if she's really ready to come back.
Ivanovic vs Goerges . . We'll see how Ivanovic does in Birmingham.
Stosur should win that.
That's a great match for Watson, finally she gets to play a really good player, that will be interesting.

Peng vs Azarenka will be good too, that is a very nice draw.
I like Li Na's draw too - Qualifier, possibly Hantuchova, Ivanovic/Goerges/Petkovic/Venus etc.

Nice tournament!

Have you got a link please, I havent seen the full draw.

Thanks :)

Also, on grass I would consider Petrova a favourite over Sam.

Barthel is just the type of player Woz enjoys playing. Barthel is such a UE-machine. Makes me wonder how she beat Mattek-Sands.

Petrova since the beginning of 2009 has been mostly garbage. Still hasn't won a title since Quebec 2008, if I am correct. Her game has been dreadful all year.

That said, this should be a sloppy affair with some big serves and brain farts.

Dani in a final? She went 4 years between titles recently and now could add a 2nd title for 2011? I think Lisicki will win though.

If Lisicki serves like she did, she has a shot at Wimbledon for Semi's or something. She was unstoppable.

She needs a favorable draw. I'm not sure what her rank will be on Monday.

I don't think favorable/unfavorable draws matter much on the WTA tour. Anyone can beat anyone depending on the day, and Lisicki did almost take out Bepa at RG and that was after going through qualies.

And FWIW Lisicki is 19th alternate on the women's entry list, so she may have to go through qualies again if she doesn't get a WC or enough withdrawals.

Lisicki vs Li 2011 Stuttgart. Tremendous serving and groundies. A bit annoying on her habit of screaming "come on!" and pumping her fist on every winner lolz. A VERY dangerous player indeed. Apparently she had injuries last year, hence her low ranking.

Lisicki vs Woz 2009 Wim. hard to tell who is whom since they both wore the exact same outfit and hair do  This is the match Lisicki "bumped" off Woz.

Radwanska or Gajdosova could be dangerous for Schiavone, who is not good on grass im guessing. Also, aggie has owned frannie the last two times they have played. once on hard courts at the sony ericsson, and the other in stuttgart on clay! she only managed to get 6 games combined in both matches

Schiavone lost in the 1st round last year. I can't think of a time BOTH finalists at a major went out the 1st round at the next major.

Maybe it just me but Wozzi looks all glammed up for the Copenhagen final, hair tied up in a different way and looks styled and seems to be wearing eyeliner.

Her serve never left her. It's her other stuff that needs more urgent improvement... and it seems like she's making steady progress.

I swear it must be either Sharapova or Ivanovic or both who have created this contagious notion that every WTA player who's recovering from whatever has somehow "lost" their serve.

Which major has Azarenka not retired in? AO, USO she's done it. I think she did at the FO as well, but not sure. I wonder if she'll beat Djokovic for the career retirement slam.

Caroline Wozniacki wins the Wozniacki Open (AKA: e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open, Copenhagen) for the 2nd straight year, beating Safarova 6-1 6-4.

'Like she did' as in like she did in the 1/2's at Birmingham. I didn't say she lost her serve, she won nearly 100% of 1st serve points.

No surprise there. Safarova is a poor Kvitova-clone (lefty, flat-hitting, similar grunts). Safarova beat herself basically in trying to break down the Great Wall of Denmark. Woz's 17th career title and 5th this year. Any more proof needed that this is a weak era?

^^Lisicki's serve can go haywire at times. First serve % drops into mid 50s or lower, double faults start creeping in. 5+ doubles isn't uncommon for her. She also struggles to win 2nd serve points at times.

When she's on her game though that serve is basically 2nd to only Serena I think. I remember her blasting serves against Wozi at Wimby scoring so many free points. Was quite amusing to see Wozi frustrated during that match. I think Lisicki can definitely go deep at Wimby again barring injury problems.

Are you being serious with this?.. You know what happened minutes after that.
She was obviously handicapped.
I cant really laugh about this one.

I know what happened that day. It's also ridiculous the frequency that she retires. 9 retirements since the beginning of 2010, including 6 last year and 3 already this year. Having problems with heat when she trains in Arizona? It was unfortunate for her, but I suspect she'll use retirements as a crutch if she can't go deeper at majors.

I agree, but it's literally her mental toughness. 17 Titles to Ivanovic's 10 and Ivanovic hits beasty forehands.
Reason Ivanovic won a Slam = Forehand. Reason was hasn't = No Weapons.
Works both ways.

And her 10th title the last 10 months. ;)

Looks like Caro is keeping the rate - keep going girl, at that tempo you'll be catching Davenport not too soon from now.

ROFL I really like her but that's one thing that kinds of annoys me with her the most (...) anyways it's cool to have Sabine coming back as a rocket on the scene. I think though one of the main things she lacks is the control over her emotions to really explode on the big scene again. She's so over-emotional that I really wonder how far she would make it in Wimbledon and her talent, serve, ball-striking can definitively make her a semi-finalist or something close.

There was speculation that her diet change was the reason that she totally collapsed physically at Roland Garros. I take it it wasn't true then?

She said she's still adjusting to the gluten free diet and what she can and can't eat, and that she ate some not so good stuff which helped lead to her collapse at RG.

http://cowbell.typepad.com/forty_deuce/2011/06/air-quotes-gluten-free-lisicki.html

BTW Sabine did get a WC for Wimbledon.
