Definately would be a contender for the most pessimistic of fans on this board though. You even thought he'd lose to Nadal at the French even with Nadal's diabolical form in the build up.

Probably a humblovic Djovak fan considering the success Novak is having. Some Novakians are going to an extent saying let's give Novak a direct bye to the Final. As for the FO though, many were still unsure despite Nadal's slump. So I won't say he was wrong in that. Novak has never made 4 GS Final in a single year. So I will say he may be right in this as well.

Cilic has honorably gone deep in the draw as a defending champion (started year off badly with injury). Very impressive. Djokovic is a tough match up for him though. Djokovic in five sets.

this #1 versus #9 was my semifinal pre-tourney pick for the top half. i thought cilic would somehow find a way to relive last year's glory run . . . but he's had to expend a lot of energy to get there.
his ankle may be an issue, which sucks that any semifinalist might be injured going in, but that's sports. i'm not concerned that novak is his kryptonite. i am concerned if he's hurt, though.

Yeah against Tsonga and Chardy he was not aggressive off the ground at all really. Only serving big. If he plays that way against Djokovic he has no shot, even against a subpar Djokovic.

He has power for sure but he looks like he goes into control mode, percentage over winners

Exactly. I don't get it either. Cilic is likely to blow Fed off the court like last year. Sort of like Delpo 2009, only Fed is a lot worse 6 years later.
Fed's best chance is meeting Djoko in the final. He lost with MPs the last two times they played here and has got some unfinished business with him.

Funny how I wanted to ask the exact same question because it was annoying to here "Chilich" from the commentators. The "ich" in the end sounds fine like all Serb/Croat names but I thought the first 'Ci' should be pronounced like Silich or Tsilich.

I must admit I am impressed too. I was kind of condescending to him when I posted early on in the tournament how far the "defending champion" is expected to go. Thought he'd be out in 3-4 rounds. He has definitely exceeded expectations so far.

Doesn't exactly work against one of the greatest return of serves the game has seen. Karlovic pulled it off recently, but big difference between the two serves. Cilic is going to have to be confident with his ground strokes.

I watched the highlights of the epic 2011 semi in anticipation of that.
I had to watch multiple versions in HD to spot the ball in that 'lucky shot' that saved the first MP. Djoker's expressions when he was preparing to receive that serve is hilarious.

That's weird seeing a Nadal fan rooting for Djokovic's opponent given that Federer is still in the draw. Most Nadal fans (like the ones spotted in the other forum M-T-F) wants to see Djokovic not knocked out as long as Federer is still there lol
