Tennis Warehouse: Yonex VCORE 95, 98, 100 2021 Playtest

Attention Talk Tennis Members:

Happy holidays! We are very excited to offer our first Yonex racquet message board playtest. We have a VERY Limited number of Yonex VCORE 95, VCORE 98 and VCORE 100 2021 racquets for a playtest. This playtest is open to USA Talk Tennis members only.

Racquets/Grip sizes Available:
VCORE 95 - 4 ⅜
VCORE 98 - 4 ⅜
VCORE 100 - 4 ¼

Note: there are no alternative grip sizes.

VERY IMPORTANT: Playtesters will be required to get their test racquet strung. Each racquet will be shipped with one set of Yonex Polytour Rev string.

Application period is now closed. Selected playtesters will be notified by December 14th via email.

We select playtesters based on a number of factors, including message board participation and performance on past playtests.

Your review is due by January 15th at 5 PT pm.

Posting a full review by the deadline is necessary to remain in good standing for future playtests. Reviews lacking sufficient effort will resort in disqualification from the playtest program.

Tennis experience/background:
Describe your playing style (i.e. serve & volley):
Current racquet/string setups:
How many hours did you play with the racquet?

Comments on racquet performance for each stroke (each section should be 3-5 sentences minimum):

Awesome! As a former player of the SV95 I've been really excited to try the next variation of the VCore 95.

I hope I get picked too. I played the SV95 for a while and almost switched to the Vcore 95 red. Ended up with the Ultra Tour mainly out of love for 18x20 racquets and past Wilson. I feel like I lost some of my serve leaving the SV, and would love to see if the new version could help bring that back.

I used the SV95 and really liked it. I probably should never have switched away from it.
I tried a Vcore95 demo strung up pretty high with poly and my serve was half the usual speed so I assumed it wasn't for me... At all.
But just recently, I borrowed a friend's Vcore95 strung at 42lbs with a poly/multi hybrid leather grip and some lead at 3&9.
I immediately served several aces in a row and hit a couple pinpoint placed winners in doubles.
So now I'm demoing the Vcore95 again but Id love to test the 2021 version at the same time.
Several hitting partners all switched to the Vcore95 and I never understood why because it played like a limp noodle for me the first time but now i know why. It felt amazing the 2nd time!
String and tension es mui importante!?

I've been on the fence about switching to Vcore98 or 95 because the 98 has crazy amounts of power and spin. (Sometimes too much power and not enough accuracy)
Meanwhile, I've been hesitant to use Vcore95 because if I'm lazy (which is often), I could get overpowered.

I'm hoping to either build up confidence with vcore95 or accuracy (thicker string?) with vcore98.. or maybe the 2021 vcore95 will be the Goldilocks frame for me?

Wow...pretty cool to see a Yonex Racquet playtest. Seems like the 95 is the popular one (so far from comments). Would be intersted in that as well due to playing with other 95s/mids lately and see how it goes up against them (Prestige 360+ Mid/TC95)

Been using the Vcore 98+ for the past 5-6 weeks or so and planned to try out the new line. Excited that TW is doing a playtest for this new one. Hope to get in.

Would be superb to be selected... I hear so many good things about the 95 once you find the right strings for it. Yonex is such a great high quality brand, really nice that TW is offering a playtest.

Haven't played with Yonex racquets before, but hoping I get selected, as I've heard really great things about the new EZONE Tours, so I'm expecting great things from the new VCores as well!

I am interested in the new beam width of the 95. The 21.5/22/21 may give a touch more pop than the 21/21/20 of the outgoing model. That’s part of what kept me from it vs the VC95, a bit less free pop.

Ha, me too. I should have requested the 98 since it’s more comparable in head size to the UT/UP combo I have now anyway. I just enjoy 95” frames too much though

I just started playing with Yonex during the summer, V core 100 and love it. Hopefully I'll get selected for this playtest as I'd love to see the difference in the new racquets.

Fantastic - I'd love to check out the 95. I've been grooving with the Vcore tour 89 - just an amazing stick.

All of these racquets are so solid, it’s hard to imagine they could improve on them. It will be interesting to see if they’ve been able to take some of the harshness out of the upper hoop on the 100.

I was going to put in an application for the 95 but the string pattern is 16x20 and I had a Diadem with that string pattern and it wasn't for me. I'm hoping I get picked for the 98 since couple of my friends have the 98 so I can just borrow theirs to compare. lol. One has a the red 98+ and the other one has the Galaxy Black.

Used the Vcore Tour 97 310 for a few years. Got the SV95 from the rep but found it too stiff. Recently switched to the Vcore 98 after also demoing the Ezone 98. Hopefully Canadians are eligible for the playtest!

Pretty sure I won’t make it, but I hope another stalwart VCORE 98 user gets in. Really want to hear how the new ones stack up against the previous version, although no word on + versions yet.

I'm also excited to hear about playtests on all of these. Sounds like they beefed up the beams a bit? Curious how that will change the feel, especially with VDM.

Haven’t played this line since the SI & SV versions. Yonex must have improved on the feel. Looks like this line gained a lot of fans.

After reading this , I wonder what the Flex is on these Frames?

"New designs and materials are crafted to produce a vicious racquet flex, heavy ball bite, and faster racquet head speed, resulting in 5.3% more spin and a 3% steeper drop angle".

2G-Namd Flex Force: Incorporated in the upper throat to lower frame, allowing the racket to quickly flex and snapback for maximum spin potential.

That’s doubtful, we are used to knowing that graphite frames do not recoil before the ball is gone - vibration frequency is too low. The stringbed snaps back way faster making the ball depart within 4ms of initial contact.

Not entirely true... you can make a variety of layups, including some with fiberglass.. Not all rackets are super stiff. Watch the movie carefully. The racket deforms before the ball leaves the string. It was even more so with old generation rackets, such as the Wilson Pro Staff 7.5si

It deforms, but doesn’t recoil/snap back, that’s what I tried to say. So it stores/dissipates energy but never returns that part to the ball. Stiff racquet flexes less and dissipates less energy.

I am not entirely sure of that. Look at the movie again. There is a lag between string recoil and racket frame but the racket frame snaps back before the ball has entirely left the strings. That should be even more so with a stiffer racket.

It’s not what you see from video. It’s what you read from science people who have put up theory, made calculations and verified with experiments and statistical data. TWU published related articles, which I personally prefer to follow over marketing texts or city legends.
