Given Goffin's recent humiliation at the hands of Federer in Basel, winning this match and making group leader would very likely keep him Fed free until the Final. PCB or Thiem could run the tables in their remaining matches, but more than likely the winner of this match will be Group B leader.

Excellent play from both in the first round so should be a great match.:p

I have noticed that Goffin makes Grigor uncomfortable. But it might just become a matter of who controls their nerves better, with both realizing they are on the cusp of something truly special.

I definitely give Grigs the edge given what he did to Goffin in Australia. Goffin's later win was against a player starting a tailspin. Given the Nadal result I'd say these courts favor Goffin more than the ones in Australia.

This really a great match and Thiem won't mind Dimi softening up Goffin for him.:D Group B is looking very strong despite Nadal's departure (and who really wanted to see another Fedal match at this point.) Group A is down right shaky with Zverev and Cilic decidedly not at their best. Dimitrov and Goffin may very well both come out of group B.

I did not see Dimitrov vs Thiem. How did Grigor play in that one?
Mostly well, excluding the usual 1-2 shocking service games where he got broken like a Top 200 player - match should have finished in straights

I expect him to beat Goffin with relative ease

Would this be the night game?

Cheers, nah, schedule has this one at 2:00 pm. PCB vs Thiem is supposedly the night match.

Goffin will be mentally spent after that Nadal match plus supposedly has a knee injury. Dimitrov is a better class of player as he showed in Auz.

Comfortable two set win for Dimi.

GRIGORIUS VICTORIOUS in two. David has no go go left in the gas tank. He will be wise to save himself for Thiemeles on Friday and a spot in the SFs.

Goffin will be very confident in this match. His chokes in the important moments vs. Rafa were do to the fact of the respect any player has toward Rafa, and of course for the fighting qualities of Nadal. David will have no fear to close a match vs. Grigor
If Grigor wants to prevail he needs to be very aggressive, If he begins to rally it'll be an easy match for Goffin.

I think this will be a battle and should Goffin prevail in 3 he might be softened up enough for Thiem. Dimitrov has a less than flattering recent record with PCB, but still could end up in 3 way tie at 2-1 with set% the breaker. Great opportunity for Goffin if he comes out as group leader and avoids Fed SF. Could easily be Goffin and Greegor in final given the shaky tennis on display in the Fed v Zed match. LOL if Thiem is #2 seed and gets Fed.:D

Actually, he defends his Brisbane, so he may drop like 205 points there if he doesn't reach the semi's, and the field of that 250 is tougher than some 1000s
Grigs needs a big WTF to lock up #4 seed (which he deserves) for Auz.

Expecting a very close one here, but Grigor's added variety and bigger serve should see him through.

Grigor!

But I like both players, TBH.

Not too bothered by the result, just want a good match.

These will both be pushed over easily by the Fed+Zed duo in the semi's anyway.
