The final is now set. Nadal looking for his 3rd USO title, and 16th Major overall. Anderson gunning for his first obviously.

Nadal leads the H2H 4-0, and is the huge favorite of course. Hasn't won a Hard-court title since Doha 2014, and is 0-8 in his last finals on this surface, so there is some hope for Kevin! :D;)

A good opportunity for Nadal here, does he get #16? Or does the big man spoil the party?

This guy is very very tricky and if Rafa is nervous and so on he will have his chances. His service is better than Delpo.

Well all I know is, after this event, I am taking a break. I was planning to go to Costa Rica, but with that crazy hurricane on one side, and that earthquake happening on the left side, ideally Central America needs to be avoided - Thoughts and prayers for anyone out there - So I will just have to make do with a trip to Bali in two weeks instead. :DGot to get out there before the dry season ends. :)

Myself, I would say keep him moving, wear out his legs. Same as Delpo. Those huge legs suck up massive amounts of oxygen. Run him ragged, and don't give him too much recovery time between serves. Then once he starts gassing out, his nerves will crumble.

Nadal Never gets tired, this is a fact. Only thing Nadal needs to do is play his tennis at good level for him. just keeping hitting that big forehand and keep the backhand deep. Anderson will break down and make ton of unforced error. and Nadal will diffuse that big serve of Anderson by moving far back

Whatever the result will be, no matter how weak the draw is, I am sure it will be a lot better than watching the women's final.

2012 AO he got tired. He and djoker couldn't even stand after the match. ****ing gladiators they were.

I have noticed that commentators always concentrate on the positives for Rafa's opponents. If Rafa has a 15:2 h2h advantage, they will put emphasis the two wins by his opponent and ignore the 15 losses they've suffered from Rafa. I'd be interested to see how they are going to find a window to Kevin's advantage as their h2h is 4:0 to Rafa.

Main factor in this match: nerves.

For the guy who in his 23rd or the guy who is in his 1st?

No matter what happens, Anderson will be stressed out. He looked like he won the title after the sf. He will be scared ****less by the occasion. Hope it turns out otherwise, that he feels he has nothing to lose and swings out. Then we could have a match, at least up to the point when thoughts about actually winning ales into Anderson's brain.

Hope I am wrong. It would be lovely with a decent match to finish of a terrible slam, level wise.

Yeah but Andersson has been around for a long time so it's not the same as when a kid plays a final for the first time.

Heart says Anderson, need to spread the love and money etc around a bit.
Head says Toro.
However, if Anderson can serve lights out even in the tight situations be can make a game of this.
In reality I doubt he can and Toro man and the whole situation will get into his head enough to throw him off :(

Andersson can very will win. He's played just as good if not better than Nadal. Also Nadal hasn't won anything on HC for ages.

As much as I like Rafa to win, I am concern when he plays spirited players that happen to have great serves. Still remembering the Querrey and Muller match this year. Both big servers, and Anderson beat Querrey at the Open.

Another lackluster slam final featuring a main eventer vs a jobber, will probably be even worst than the stinker of a final we got at Wimbledon. Unless Rafa gets injured somehow and can't compete at a 100%, I can't see how he loses this one let alone drops a set. Looking forward for the USO to be over so we can move on from this nightmare, actually I'd rather the season ends today. I'm really hoping that once we have a full roster again in 2018 that things improve. 2017 will go on as one of the most boring tennis year in quite a while.

Perhaps Anderson can pull a Rosol. We shall see.

To be fair, the season started well and with so much promise. AO was played with full player strength. Things just deteriorated during the FO,Wimby timeframe and hit the nadir at the USO.

Nadal Never gets tired, this is a fact.

Nadal has been visibly tired on court a number of times. He was dead tired in a Miami final against Djoker. He was even more tired in the USO final one year against Djoker and he was tired at the end of the AO this year against Roger. He couldn't hit his FH in the fifth set when pulled wide-- he was tired as hell.

Those were not slam finals! The only player superior mentally in slam finals was Pete and that is a very high bar. Querrey or Muller would be demolished by Nadal in a major final. He always brings his A game in slam finals. ALWAYS.

That's the whole point of Grand Slams. It's like an IronMan. The fittest will survive. Not just the most talented.

That's true. Wawrinka got Nadal in AO 2014 but Wawrinka showed that he's one of the best in the world and can rise to the occasion at times on the biggest stage (FO 2015, USO 2016). But then again, nobody hits as hard as Wawrinka off the FH and BH consistently.

The first month or so was quite interesting. Actually if I look at the whole season, it started on a high at the AO and went progressively downhill from there. Only one great match at the FO, and nothing at Wimbledon or the USO. It's a bit ironic because you would think that with Fedal evenly splitting the slams this year, things would be exciting, but save for the AO, the rest was quite forgettable from a match quality standpoint.
