RBA played great in those last two sets. This is Djokovic's wake up call. I have not been pleased with where he has been standing all week and so hesitant to take control of these rallies and go for the approach shot and come in when he had shorter balls. Must maintain that aggressive mindset at all times.
I think neither Djoker's nor Fed's fans are particularly elated at their man's play. I feel ya.

Tough fight by RBA. The guy had a great year in 2017 but somehow faded in 2018. Wish the David Ferrer, Jr. a good 2019.

The loss is bad for Novak only because it took too long ...
Wouldn't say so. He had a great early 2018 with a win in Auckland against Delpo in the final and a win in Dubai.

djokovic won the us open because he had the easiest draw.
djoker is not the big favorite as many people think, he is very vulnerable.
I bet he loses before the final.

This loss feels a lot like Federer's 2018 losses. Age catches up.

Doesn't mean that Joe is Finnish, he might even still be the frontrunner in AO. He's just not invincible.

A lot of Nole fans who gloated at every Fed loss might take the opportunity to develop some humility and respect.

I agree to a certain extent but he's still the No.1 favourite.

I really think tonight's match exemplified why even for the best players in the world it's just so difficult to win a vast amount of titles these days due to the depth in the game. I mean Doha is a 250, a level of tournament that the likes of Connors and McEnroe won tons of back in the day but how often did they ever come up against someone playing like RBA did tonight and this wasn't even the final! In many ways tennis is a different sport compared to what it was even twenty years ago, let alone further back.

RBA thoroughly deserved the win. It was a high quality match that I very much enjoyed watching. Djokovic did not play badly but he is not invincible.

You and I should talk bodybuilding then! I have trained with Jay Cutler in the past.
Wow love to. I love talking about lifting. Unreal JC is a legend. He has a swagger now having to compete against the great one RC all those years. No one had it tougher. FC had is tough against AS. But it might be blasphemy and i hate to say it RC is greater than AS.

Don't worry. Novak is the favorite. I'll be surprised if anyone takes 3 sets off the guy. And no, no jinxing. I don't believe in that stuff anyway.
Ok. It will not be easy. If he is not playing in extreme heat and not playing consecutive days i will agree he is the favorite. He won the last 2 majors.

He's favorite because no one else is. A weak favorite.

neither djokovic, the number 1 seed and winner of the last two Grand Slam and neither federer, winner of the last two Australian Open, are the big favorites to win the first major of the year, as many people think.

Both will be defeated before the final, even if they do not collide with each other in the SF.

Maybe it's time for a triumphant young player in Australia.

I basically agree, but the fact that you can't name which young player shows why they are still the favs.

Some made up math to demonstrate - let's say Djokovic has a 25% chance of winning, Fedr 15%, then 12 other players each 5%. 60>40 so odds are it's one of the 12. But Joe and Fred are still the favorites. Weak favorites.
