Because on QF days, RG does 1 men's and 1 women's match on each of the big courts (Chatrier and Lenglen). The big shots chose to put the Nadal/Nishikori on Chatrier, so Federer-Wawrinka is on Lenglen while the Stephens-Konta match is on Chatrier.

I agree with you if it's Fed in semi. Probably easiest draw yet for Nadal at RG. If it's Wawa, even washed out Wawa and a perfect matchup for Nadal, at least he'll have to work a bit in semi. I think shuch a complete lack of decent opposition until final is actually a disservice to Nadal (But it's RG we're talking about, so maybe it doesn't matter much anyway )

He took 6 games already in the first. This is as good as we could have hoped. If it goes 5 I don't see how his body can hold up
