This is basically how it's shaking out for the last two positions. Berrettini is only 75 points under the current threshold to qualify, so he's effectively punched the 6th ticket. Removed Nadal (#8) since he's out for the season.

Its like noone watched the Dimitrov or Schwartzman matches. Norrie is in form and looking good. One point away!
We did, but a lot of us also saw him get demolished by Ruud two weeks ago.

With that said I did bet Norrie over Grigor and again today... Too bad I had paper hands on the Badosa bet...

Or maybe they watched the three previous rounds that were a struggle. Norrie is the Churchillian riddle/mystery/enigma player of 2021.

If Norrie can carry on making finals win or lose at some point next year he might enter the top 10 in the 52 week rankings. It's a pretty amazing achievement given Norrie wasn't even thought of as a "British hope" in Men's tennis, he was an afterthought in the British medias eyes, it was Kyle Edmund everyone thought would be a top 20 or top 10 player after Murray.

I know it's cliche but hard work does pay off, especially in tennis.

If Norrie can further exceed expectations his next objective is to reach the 2nd week of a slam.

I don't want to spoil the fun. It might be an entertaining match but I'd just say it's not for the casual fans of tennis :)
Great. I can’t watch it live but I’ll happily watch the replay tomorrow. This fan is more a fan of the sport than any one or two players.

Norrie dropped out of Antwerp (wise move) so Sinner can be basically tied with a title. From there, they are all doing the Vienna/Paris/Stockholm marathon, kinda like Around The Continent in 30 Days. Should be very suspenseful, kinda like spending a month touting the horses.

Yes this tournament has been a joke but I'm still glad Norrie won.

In all likelihood this will be the biggest tournament he'll ever win. He's had a good season and he played really solid ball the last couple rounds. He deserves it.

A joke because the top seeds lost? Not following you. Some great matches in this tournament, on both the women's and men's sides.

Great win for Norrie!

This guy should be (I know he isn’t) a great role model for all rec players. Weird (and effective) strokes but fit as hell with the right amount of mongrel to regularly beat players with ‘better’ games/strokes.

A true battler who made it to the top!

Not really willing to go sky is falling here over this outcome. It’s October Indian Wells, post USO, the big 3 all skipped, NextGen fluffed it but it happens. It feels like the logical conclusion to what appears to have been a sparsely attended tournament.

Norrie beat Rublev and Shapo last week in San Diego and absolutely decimated Schwartzman - plus battled back vs. RBA whose game was imo made for this sort of slow hard court. Well deserved as much as his backhand gives me a headache. Kudos to a hard worker with a great mentality.

Both him and Badosa are receiving something of a year end achievement award, huge risers from below the top 50 in 2020 who have gotten close in many big events so far and justifiably get the trophy to top it off.

In winning Indian Wells, Norrie has:

1. Won his 2nd and by far the biggest title of his career (won his maiden ATP title in Los Cabos, a 250 event, earlier in the season) in his 6th ATP final of the year.
2. Become the 1st British player to win the title in Indian Wells (Rusedski was a losing finalist in 1998, Henman in 2002 & 2004, Murray in 2009).
3. Become the 20th active player to have won at least 1 title at Masters 1000 level.
4. Become the 1st player ranked outside the top #25 to win Indian wells since Ljubicic in 2010.
5. Become the 3rd player to win his maiden Masters 1000 title this season (after Hurkacz in Miami and Tsitsipas in Monte Carlo).
6. Become the 4th British player to win a title at Masters 1000 level (after Rusedski, Henman and Murray) and 2nd active player to do so.
7. Become the #1 ranked British male player for the first time in his career (finally achieving the ranking to match his results).

That's correct. I thought his parents had accompanied him but they are still living in New Zealand. My bad.
They are both laboratory professionals of some sort and met through their work, then left U.K. for South Africa but their stay there was shortened when they were victimized in a home invasion. They landed on their feet with their employment at a NZ lab. Not an easy thing to do a third time within a decade or so if they had come back to their roots in Scotland or Wales or hunker down in neutral London.

Which is great, because there are no rabid fans fighting with each other and bringing guys who aren't even playing into the discussion.
Wut? There has been increased toxicity from the fanboy bases with their idols idle and their hands transforming from their usual chores of overadulation into hate for the guys that kept grinding into the second weekend. All the pathetic calls that the tennis wasn’t worth watching with Player A as a SFist or Player B undeserving of making a final because of his limited ball bashing skill set.

Looks like Fawcett is now an investment banker. Could potentially make more money than Norrie, unless Norrie continues winning Masters 1000 tourney and starts getting large sponsorships.

Cam Norrie is a pusher!

Sorry, it's something you have to say at least once during your stay at TTW.

He “shovels” his bh. I guess Connors was a shovelhead too. And Pancho Segura with his 2-hand righty FH, a virtual mirror image of the bh his protégé Jimbo made.
