Roflmao you have to be making this up

the thing with Rafa is that people act like it’s just his chronic foot condition but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of his laundry list of ridiculous and eclectic injuries. I mean who even gets appendicitis? Who can stress fracture a rib playing tennis? Who can hit himself in the nose with his own racquet?

the guy’s injury luck is just absurd

But his haters think he's making up his injury. I am sure there might be some posters here who will say Rafa faked his nose injury.

Congrats to Nadal. Looked down and out in the first two sets. Hopefully he improves in the next few rounds, no chance of beating Medvedev in this form

I played hockey on ice growing up also, that doesn’t mean I’m a wanna be tough guy.
But I'm not a wannabe tough guy. That's my point. Getting hit with a hockey stick, even when it requires stitches, is just one of those things that happens and doesn't make me some kind of tough guy. Same as accidentally hitting yourself in the nose with your racquet.

Lol this is priceless.

Well good win for Rafa to pull that one out, the score doesn't tell the whole story here this was a slog fest. Hopefully Rafa can play better next round(s)

Manu Ginóbili vibes, 2010 Sun/Spurs playoff game in Phx, sitting there we noticed many fans with tampons on their noses. Ginóbili’s nose was so heavily taped/bandaged it looked like a tampon. :-D He’s fine lol

I always call out people laughing at someone who is really hurt. Even you wouldn't laugh at Rafa's face if you were there in front of him. Hypocrisy at its best
Umm...85% of the crap people say about tennis players on this site they wouldn't say to their faces. There are some really egregious things said about tennis players here that I don't condone one bit. Laughing at Nadal hitting himself with his racquet doesn't count as one of those egregious things.

Come on. He's VERY interested but he plays the "I don't care" game, just like Kyrgios. They are both protecting their lack of self image/confidence. I feel sad for both of them.

ETA: someone above mentioned Paire. I'd put him in the same camp. These guys need mental health support.
Fog is the outlier in your group. He’s quite healthy mentally, grounded by a healthy marriage to a strong woman in Flavia Pennetta and father already to three children. Please don’t tar his reputation just because he doesn’t fit your profile of how a competitive athlete should behave on court. He has his priorities straight in his life away from “the office.”

I would have expected a more fair evaluation of Fognini from you. Quite disappointing, to be frank.

Yeah I agree. Fognini isn't remotely in the same realm as someone like Nick Kyrgios, who (and I say this respectfully) legitimately seems like a tortured soul.

It's OK if we have different opinions. I watched Fabio live in Toronto and he was a petulant child. The crowd became so disappointed with his attitude that they started to boo him. I hadn't seen that before. He slammed a ball at a lines kid. He yelled at the ump. He berated the crowd. He delayed the match by being super slow walking back on court or facing the server. (And I've seen it since on TV.)

He was just like Nick. (OK, not quite as bad.)
Of course I love that he has a great life away from the courts, but that doesn't mean that he is 'professional' and well balanced on court. That is what I was referring to. Just my observation. I'm sorry if it doesn't match with yours.
We all have different experiences in life.
