Sorry everyone, I was away on a little vacation (I know you all missed me soooooo much), and I have some catching up to do. So what better way to do it than one of my famous (or infamous and hated) multiquotes!
Watching TM is so cringe to me. It’s like watching a not-very-good 3.5 ladies match at my club.
I absolutely get the same impression. That she can continue to get decent results here and there is just proof that a good player with some variety and a little power when needed would clean up on this current tour. Graf would do the golden slam in 2024 as well.
Tbh, I haven't noticed Andreeva much recently either. I think a lot of players have a little explosion where they announce themselves, then struggle for 2 or 3 years whilst they finish their growing and iron out what they need to do to take that next step.
Nice call (sarcastic). Andreeva had a good little run in Australia, and has played some very good matches. She is still quite immature mentally, but her game looks very promising. Much more so than anyone else around her age, and much better than Gauff at her age (even if Gauff was obviously much stronger physically at that age).
I had it on while we were having lunch, my wife remarked how empty it was too. Can’t believe this is a 1000.
Spain is one of those countries where they really don't care too much about women's sports. There are quite a few of them, and some women (especially American women) would do well to travel and bit and get some perspective.
Disappointed but not surprised that somehow Gauff yet again gets an easy draw.
...
Meanwhile Gauff gets Yastremska 3R and either the completely out of form Samsonova or inconsistent mess Madison Keys 4R.
It's almost like a joke. One or two times, OK, but she has had so many easy draws lately in big events. Aussie open was a complete gift, followed by more of the same at IW and Miami.
And now we see that every match she has had against a half decent player (because someone like Kostyuk is really only half decent), or a highly ranked player, she has pretty much been immediately bounced.
Haven't got it on but a guy on Twitter says she seems to be trying to play like Ostapenko (?!?) today. And failing.
Um, Raducanu tries to play like Ostapenko every day (as so plenty of other WTA players). The blast away and go for their shots, and if they manage to get in a groove and have a good day, they win. If they have an off day, they get trounced.
She really does, I think her long windup for the forehand helps her on slower surfaces. Really hope she keeps her foot on the gas like she has been lately because she's my favorite player on the women's tour bar none.
Wait, what? Sloane Stephens is your favorite player? How? Just how? How do you deal with all of the matches where she completely fails to show up and looks like some strange twin sister that gets called in to play in her place? She is the most frustrating player on tour, by a mile...
I don't know how anyone can be a fan of Collins. Worst attitude and celebrations that are so stupid and cringe.
This! She is truly insufferable. Not only is she rude and over the top, but her antics look so stiff and unnatural. I was almost rooting for her on this farewell run, but I can't. She's just the worst.
I also have no idea why so many people think she is really attractive. She isn't bad looking, but in a WTA packed with some absolutely beautiful human beings, she doesn't stand out.
I like her game, but I also can‘t unsee that match against ATP #1500 that she has lost pretty badly.
Huh? She played well in that match. We all know that the pro men can easily beat the pro women (this is old news), but watching that match you had to come away thinking that if she could play that well against other women, she would do just fine on tour.
Kinda suspicious don't you think? Has any other woman manage that?
Also take today, when the younger, lighter, faster player (Jacqueline Cristian ) got tired, while Collins was fresh as a daisy.... PED anyone?
Well, when the PED's are sanctioned, they become TUE's. Just ask the Williams sisters, Chris Froome (or most of the old team Sky), Simone Biles...
cute little italian girl losin first set
Another one I just don't understand. Cute? I don't see it at all. And in case you think I'm crazy, neither does Italy, her home country, where she is essentially ignored because they only like absolute champions, or beautiful women.
