Are you a professional athlete though? Kvitova REALLY should be in better shape..

no i'm not a professional athlete.
and yes, Kvitova s/b in better shape.

but so what? neither of those two concepts have anything to do with the fact that kvitova did not meet expectations today ... KVITOVA ... TODAY ...

all I did was agree with Duncan Bell about Miss Kitty MELTing! ;)

hello ........ it's 95 degrees Fahrenheit at IW right now.
What's that in celcius?

So much for my Kvitova was going to win the tournament prediction!

What happened to Kvitova, another meltdown? When is this inconsistency going to end? I did not see the match.

Good win for Kirilenko in any case.

She wasn't playing awful, just her serve. 14 doubles I believe?

That would 35 degrees Celsius!

Btw the formula for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa is

C = (F-32) /1.8. Where C is of course the celsius temperature and F is the fahrenheit temperature.

I'm sure it can be looked up, but I figured I'd be nice. ;)

Kvitova has addressed the getting into better shape thing and she knows she has to improve in the fitness category.

Errani finally finding some belief against the Sharapova's of the world?

I really, really hope so ... but shrieka might have to keep stinkin up the place with her errors for that to happen :???:

well, it's quite the uneven physicality: Maria is the giant Goliath, Sara the David. It's like Ollie Rochus playing delPotro .... Sara's just too small in comparison to the growling monster ...

they obviously scheduled too many matches on Stadium 1 today. Kevin the comm said the crowd was here ready to take their seats for the evening session at 7 pm, but they and the players were forced to wait 3 hours until almost 10 p.m.

yeah, sara looks disheartened ... dont blame her, but maria is as tall as a somewhath tall man @ 6'2" ... quite the advantage vs. a pixie like the italian @ 5' 4 1/2"

Russian Tennis player. In early march 2001 she was only 5ft 3 but the next year she had a teenage spurt and by 2002 was standing age 14-15 at 5ft 9.

In 2004 she grew further and reached 6ft and through 2005 had a final spurt and mentioned 'not wanting to be' 6ft 2, but that is what she claims she is now.

Simon/Anderson should have been on an outside court. It would have only left three matches for the day session on Stadium 1, but I'm sure people would not have complained with it including Fed and Nada. Maybe they could have added a doubles match to replace the Simon match?

Something Kvitova should learn from Errani... drop shots.

P.S. This screaming nonsense is a bit silly, no?

I call it cheating b/c it violates the "hindrance" rule.

did you see what frenchwoman rozzani was called for "hindrance" at the FO last year? she was positively SILENT compared to shriekapova (and errani is yelling in defense, as I believe she should)

that's a good point ... without simon/anderson, they still have 3 men's matches and 2 women's matches ..... wtf?!?!?

Didn't see that. I think players should ridicule Maria for her tactic, or go overboard with their shrieking when playing against her... do it in a way that is really obvious, like delayed slightly after hitting the ball or before hitting it. then when the umpire gives them a violation make a big fuss about it.

that's the only way this will change, but the women won't stand up for themselves so they'll just have to suffer in silence (theirs, not sharapova's).

Funny thing is, i don't think maria needs it.

I wonder ... i've sometimes thought the same thing myself .... i wonder cuz i dont believe maria used to shriek earlier in her career. not sure, but I think her recent success is a bit of a career comeback. apparently, she was shorter before ... but now that she's a giant among women, she's pressing her advantage ..... maybe the other players are afraid she might have russian mafia connections?

something FUNNY: Azarenka and Sharapova in a match where the umpire (Lynn Something) made the announcement for the audience to "Please remain silent during the point"

MELT ..... you may actually have something there ..... some people just do not do well in the heat .... I'm one of those people .... it's in the 90's there today .... that's melting weather in my book ... maybe in Petra's too

Well she melted in Aus, and the only Slam she's won is Wimbledon, where nobody melts.

Also, did I see someone saying Renka wasn't playing well? Behave, she looks fine.

Better Maria won over Errani. Errani makes a terrible noise every time she hits the ball as well, plus I think Errani is ugly and looks like a mix between a rodent and a man (sorry.)

I am not questioning what she has been able to achieve in tennis, I find her difficult to like for a few reasons, she is my least favorite in the top ten. I don't find her really interesting to watch. Re her looks, I am just being honest, I really find her unattractive, it is a personal opinion right?

there is a difference between finding a woman unattractive (personal opinion) and calling her a rodent-man (hate)...

it's rude and an ugly thing to say about someone, especially since she's not there to parade her looks.

That's quite a "growth spurt"

Seems rather abnormal to grow 6 inches between 13 and 15

And then grow 5 more inches between 15 and 17

Sounds like HGH or something at work

Hopefully Kerber takes out Caroline....she is way more fun to watch. Wozniacki is even more boring than Errani. The golden retriever needs to retrieve her bags and head for Miami, she has overachieved in this tournament already. Petrova should have sent her packing the other night but in typical headcase fashion managed to majorly screw it up.

Hoping for Kirilenko to win at this point....it would be a breath of fresh air to have someone outside of the top 5 win something.

Tanya, you actually seemed to be a moderate supporter of Wozniacki a couple years ago. What exactly happened? It is clear you have changed your views on her.

Well when she was up and coming Caroline showed signs of promise....I of course expected her game to develop and evolve further as even back then I was underwhelmed by her ground game but attributed it to being young and inexperienced at the top. More recently, however, her attitude and attention-seeking ways have totally turned me off of her. I hate how she whines to the umpire in almost every match and plays the victim, and I also hate her father and his attitude/actions as well. Further, Caroline has shown no improvement in her game since i started watching her and I really have no respect for players that have zero weapons and just make their opponents defeat themselves. What really irks me is that she acts like she earns so many of her victories when, had her opponent just not made so many errors, she would have been off the court in straight sets. She's Safina-esque in that she defended her slamless #1 ranking--however I respect Dinara infinitely more than I will ever respect Caroline because Safina was actually capable of winning majors, it was just her head that got in her way. She actually had weapons and a good game but succumbed to the pressure (and despite that managed to make more slam finals than Caroline).

yes. that's a very unattractive trait of azarenka's. I for one never heard anything about an ankle injury until the announcement this morning. obviously, she didnt want to face the caroline/piotr team of wozniackis ..... we all noticed vicky's been "off" to say the least, but I'm guessing she would have chanced it if her opposition had been petrova ...

guess Aza doesnt care that much about the points she'll lose for going out in the quarters. Quarters gets her 250 points, but she's defending 1000, so that leaves her minus 750 points, right?

and maybe her conditioning isnt up to the heat, she didnt want to run that much in the heat ... Renka hasn't been scheduled before 4 p.m. earlier in the week. good for s.williams points-wise

*attitude and attention seeking ways* - Huh? got an example or two? cuz I know youre not so petty as to be referring to Caro's minimal and infrequent exchanges with umpires.

*zero weapons* - that makes you sound like just another WTA hater! Cuz if Caro was able to maintain the world no. 1 position with "zero weapons," then that means all the other 100+ players in the world who were playing during the 67 weeks that Caroline was World No. 1 have less than zero weapons. that surprises me that you'd be one of those, Tanya!

"had her opponent just not made so many errors, she would have been off the court in straight sets" CMON, Tanya, make sense ..... name the player who doesnt profit from her opponent's errors? that's the nature of the game of tennis: you profit (gain points) from your opponent's errors. that's a FULL HALF of the scoring system.

"it was just her head that got in her way" ..... again you shock me ... this time with your poor opinion of the mental game of tennis! there's really nothing more important, IMO. In fact, Caro's inability to win a slam is because her father has forced her to remain reliant on him for the mental aspect, a brain to call upon when the body isn't maintaining the lead.

"Caroline has shown no improvement" ... anybody who considers movement up the ranks as "improvement" knows the falsity of that point, and the fact that you make it leads me to believe that you've got an axe to grind, maybe some other player you prefer. that's what's really the basis for your emotions, isnt it?

speaking of players you prefer causing you to "hate" other players and delight in their defeat, did you see nadal beat federer today? ... you can hope for such a satisfaction at a match result by watching Caro play Kerber tomorrow!

Say what ?

I know, huh!? :D

Shrieka owns their H2H 4-2 ..... they've both been russian head cases in the past and seem to be overcoming that weakness, but of the two, shrieka is overconfident due to her comparative height and feral ferocity with the whole growling thing when she gets behind to another screamer ... Kirilenko can scream when she wants to, but Cheata has the more forceful Hindrance tool.

that said, I'd LUV it if Kirilenko beat her sister Russian like a drum! :)
