I will catch the replay later, but I must say I am stunned.Djokovic was obviously not in the best shape, but never really thought he would lose the whole thing, not on plexicushion and not in the R2 at least.
Fair play to Istomin.

No more players to root for me,hope one of Stan/Dimitrov/Zverev win the whole thing now. Wouldn't mind Murray/Fed/Raonic either.

I fell sorry for you, but everything suggests that. His level has been way below his best since the 2016 FO and the only reason why he reached the USO final is because his draw collapsed (at least in my opinion). He lost badly to Murray in the match which decided world's No. 1, now he was dethroned in Australia.

But, hey, it's not that bad, Zvezda is still kicking a$$e$ in Euroleague. :D

I forget the part about the car crash he was in and he was told he'd never play tennis again.

In 2001 he was in a terrible car crash and badly injured his leg. He spent three months in the hospital, required 80 stitches, and didn't touch a racquet for two years. In fall of 2003 he started playing tennis again, but skipped over Juniors and went right to the Futures circuit.
Yeah, definitely a major motion picture in the works.

The UE's in the first round were a pretty solid hint he is off.

It's an open field now. Raonic, Murray probably the favorites. Wouldn't look past Stan or even Dimitrov either.

It won't be Rafa, or Roger . You can forget that.

My bet is Raonic.

Remember in Rocky 3, when Balboa started to get to comfortable ? That's Djokovic right now. Not training enough, not eating right, basking in his greatness. 2017 could of been a multi slam year for him. But it won't be.
I was actually thinking the exact same thing. He needs an Apollo Creed to get his mind back on tennis, if he wants to win that is. If he's content with himself then there's not much else to say.

I feel sort of vindicated by this result, as I originally forecast that Murray will overtake Novak after the end of this tournament.

This match was GREAT for tennis. Should make the top-tier players shake in their boots. Anybody can beat anybody on the day, given they are physically fit.

I guess it was actually good that he didn't win FO earlier than 2016. :) Maybe the loss at the Olympics had just as much of an effect as his FO win.

Can't complain about that.

I guess it's a combination of finally winning Roland Garros, the fact that he's been playing on a very high level since the start of 2011 and his millage. It has to happen at some point, but he's done great and has set some all time records in tennis, you should be happy. ;) And he is still No. 2.

Yes only some nobody called Sir Andy Murray in his way.

I think Fed will beat Berdych, but Nishikori is a tough draw for Federer and then Murray directly after? Not got much hope. If Murray gets knocked out then I might start to believe Federer can vulture this one.
I agree, but don't see anyone in the draw who could beat him, except Querrey, the Major streak breakerer. :D

And if Nadal and Djokovic were never born, Federer might actually have 40+ Slams. LOL

Djokovic has done enough for his legacy. He is in the GOAT debate, no matter what anybody says. He played a level, especially at the start of 2016, we have never seen. The greater the peak, the greater the downslide.

What would be the most epic final here?
Fedal ;) blast from the past!
It's funny, I had a feeling from the start that Murray would get this one though. I guess he deserves one after all those finals.
Also an opportunity for new kids on the block Zverev/Evans to show what they're made of.
Monf is playing fantastic and well, there's Tomic. If he's ever gonna amount to anything, now is the time, no? The event has become wide open now.

He did go over his ankle yesterday. Not sure if it will be an issue, but Murray may have to be careful. Agree Federer's draw is tough, especially giving age and lack of top level match practise. Serve will have to be at its best.

Fed is going to get suplexed by the Bird. Don't be foolish.

I'm worried about the Bird for sure. But Djokovic is the only player that I consider to be unbeatable for Fed at this point.

Murray is a great player having a great year, but Fed has never had the kind of mental block against him that he had with Rafa and then Novak.

I'm not saying he will win, just that he can.

If he does, he will be going out in a stretcher.

Yeah, I don't know if that poster even watched Federer's first 2 matches. Would he have taken Istomin to 5 today? Probably not.
