Fed should btw have won this match in straight sets. Only faced 1 BP today, and had 3 good opportunities in the opening set.

Del Potro is a different animal indoors now.. He still and whack the cover off the ball and give you less reaction time to hit it back.

Its not like playing freakin pusher Ferrer out there who lines up everything in your dang strike zone

So Fed won just one point in the last 3 Delpo service games. That's laughable.

Last 4!

Fed overall won only 27% on Delpo's SECOND SERVE. It's not laughable btw, anyone who dares laugh about Federer's tennis better be named Novak, or Rafael.

Vamos, what a way to win it, too big too strong. Delpo rattled the big Fed, Fed had no answers.

At the age of 31 he has no answers, you finally got your wish

Though I do like to remember last year. 6-3 6-0 was it? Against your precious lover?

No Mas No Mas!

Hey, atleast he reached SF, your mancrush didn't even qualify at the same age :).

He was too busy yelling "No Mas, No Mas" against Bastl at Wimbledon, it was quite hilarious (especially for a supposed grass GOAT).

Who has greater chance to beat Novak? Del Potro or Ferrer who beat del potro?

Delpo, ferrer is scrappy and gets to balls in a simular way murray would but i just feel delpo could hit strong flat shots that would work novak harder.

Ultimately tho, i dont think either of them can beat him. Murray is the only player that will stand a chance at beating him, if he makes it past federer (if thats the matchup)

Well he's gonna lose his next match anyway so doesn't matter. Seriously hope he plays better tomorrow though, such crap play as of late.

Nice, all that needs to happen now is ferrer beating tipsy and fed and Delpo make it to the semis. feel sorry for ferrer though but i guess he pays the price for getting beaten in straights.

Just like poor Petey against Bastl at the same age.

If only he switcher to a bigger racquet during his career, he might have made a FO fina :)l.

wow, what an awful, awful performance in the 1st and 3rd sets from Federer. His BH completely deserted him and he couldn't hit it DTL. Don't know if there has been another match where his BH was this bad..

Tankage.

I mean Fed wasn't playing that badly. The second set was brilliant and he was cruising through his service games. A random dip in the 3rd set which caused him to be broken when up 30-0. He obviously wants Delpo who is now full of confidence to knock out one of Djokovic or Murray, he knows Ferrer can't beat them.

Del Potro against either Djokovic or Murray would be a tougher match than if Ferrer was there, so I am quite happy with the semi final line up. It is going to be box office stuff.

All slam winners.

Had to leave before the third set and just took a look at the stats. Federer won 2 points on Delpo's serve all set? I'm sensing some terrible form and/or half-assed effort,

Just a lot of unforced errors from Federer and I guess you could say that Delpo overpowered him a bit. I'm not really upset about this since I wanted del potro to go through instead of Ferrer.

Missed the match. :(

Summary of what happened?

Both played average in the first set, Fed had chances at 4-3 15-40 in the first set but Del Potro saved both break points. The Argentine was more solid in the breaker, ******** in full flight showed up.

Fed started the second set great, breaking Del Potro to love, then held to love. From this point on, the 2nd set went as the first but this time Fed had the break advantage - he won it 6-4 winning just about every point on serve and losing just about every point on the returns.

Del Potro upped his level a notch in the 3rd, ******** showed up big time again. It should've been 6-1 or 6-2 in the final set but Fed still found his serve to get out of trouble.

All in all a C-/D match for Federer, Del Potro at C+,B- at times, a deserved victory.

But Fed's record on indoor HC with Djokovic is 3-1 and with Murray it is 3-2. Neither has defeated Federer at London before. If anything Roger has defeated Murray twice at London and Djokovic only once there. Do you really think it is a big difference in Roger's head?

.

As I said before, Murray is the only top player who leads the head to head vs Fed on hard court (a feat no to be minimized given Fed's overall record on that surface) and let's not play around words here please, Murray may not have beaten Fed in London but unlike Djoko, he beat Fed at WTF before, he's also beaten Fed in Madrid indoor and he has beaten Fed convincingly very recently in Shanghai. Now I'm not saying that Djoko would be a walk in the park for Fed, just that Murray is clearly the worse matchup of the 2 especially in a best of 3 format and on this surface.

With today's match Fed has practically ended his chances at this tournament. Had he won in straights or lost in straights, I'd give him at least a 30% chance of winning against Murray inspite of his terrible form. After playing a 3 setter today compounded with his abysmal form, his chances of beating Murray are at about 5-10%.
Too bad Ferrer got knocked out though :(
