And there you have it. They both played well, but it was Thiems clutchness that go him through in the end. Zverev failing on the big points, even on serve.

Also respect to Zverev for his performance the last couple of weeks, might be the making of him.

if Thiem plays like in his tie breaks in the final he will have a chance... slicing wont be enough against Djokoko

Yallaaaaa!!!

He does it.

The Prince of Clay is now in an Australian Open final! Who'd've thunk it.

Excellent battle, tight match, lot of momentum swings. Zverev should be proud of his run here as well, maybe a breakthrough for him.

Two youngish guys scrapping it out for a place in a grand slam final -- you love to see it.

You mean stand 8m behind the baseline, do nothing and hit a loopy forehand every sitter you get?

Got him to the SF, obviously he's got a lot to work on still but it's a positive sign him beating the guys he should be beating in a straight forward way.

Well done to Thiem, if he can find his top form he has the game to seriously trouble Novak. However he has clearly exerted quite a lot of physical and mental energy in last 2 matches so the longer final goes the more i favour Novak.

OMG. Novak wil kill Thiem. I almost feel bad on what it might do Thiem's confidence to get thrashed again in a slam final.

Zverev would have maybe had a very small chance with big serving, Thiem will have NONE.

yea, I think this is definitely a encouraging fortnight for him. He's played some very solid tennis, mostly kept his composure well, and losing this close a battle with Thiem isn't a big shame.

Most encouragingly, he seems to have gotten his serving back to a level where it's as good or better than it has been. That's very important for him if he wants to have chances through the two weeks of a major.

Yeah, back to back matches with what 80% first serves in? Very good.

Don't think he has much of a shot at the other majors this year tbh, maybe a very longshot at the USO? Or FO I guess if Nadal goes out early...
