For one it’s indoors so cleaner conditions, both prefer these conditions to a hot outdoor one.

For two, Djokovic didn’t show anywhere near this level of explosive movement or attitude in New York

It is incredible that after so many gladiator matches against Nadal and Murray with plenty of 40-shot rallies Djokovic still has it in him to slug it out against Med in so many points at this stage of his career. I would not have as much patience.

Indeed, Pusherer never won points aggressively at that age, least of all against someone of Medvedev's caliber. Whatever competitiveness he could barely muster against Djokovic at al is nothing but a function of servebot junkballing.

Novak always seemed like he was probably his best match-up of the Big 4 for Med. Fed, Rafa and even Muzz all throw more variety at you. Novak has to go more out of his comfort zone to get that done.

He played better against Nadal at Roland Garros. His number of UEs while keeping a pretty aggressive game at the time was just staggering.

This is one of his best hard-court matches this year, though.
