I’m switching off. If I wanted to watch this kind of low standard of serving I’d go watch WTA. Norrie is shocking.

What a horrible obnoxious **** Kachanov is… and Norrie gets broken while serving for the set then loses set points with a lucky FH on the line and an ace. Awful match.

I think Novak can still have a say in this clays season
Have you seen his interviews this week - low energy and lacking confidence. I don’t know what is ailing him this year and whether it is physical or mental, but to me it seems like he is not out of it yet.

Novak is a master of exaggerating physical discomfort. Like AO final 2015, almost dying of heatstroke last year in Cincinnati or the best one - winning AO 23 with a torn hamstring (genuine lol). It's designed to look like he's borderline superhuman because he always overcomes those super serious issues. And just in case anyone is in doubt he'd send Goran to tell the press that he actually is superhuman.

To explain why he will do better this year than in 8 years at MC, do you know why he has performed so poorly in the last few years and what has changed this year? Also he has been playing poorly this year with hardly a single match (except maybe Mannarino at AO) up to his 2023 standards and he has been talking this week with low confidence about having low expectations at MC and picking others to win the titles this year on clay. Do you know what has been ailing him all year and if so, has it been healed?

We don’t even know if it is a wrist/elbow injury, long-term symptoms from his Australian respiratory illness or some personal issue affecting him emotionally. He even fired his coach recently and there was a report that Goran fought with him over his low practice intensity at IW - he then went to Miami, but didn’t play. So, how can you predict that whatever problems affected him this year or in general at MC have all vanished suddenly?

Taylor tanked in order to save his energy for the important match of playing doubles tomorrow with Rune.

They were good together, clearly had a lot of fun. Saw it on Danish tv.

The miniscule purse is a hoot! Bet she's got him on a leash.. or something. #trouble
That minuscule purse probably costs more than my car!

**** off kachanov you ****. Also Norrie go retire from the sport you pathetic WTA player.
How much did you lose on the match?

Sinner playing in doubles now with Sonego. Why wasting energy like that?
Olympics...

Thank you! I'm glad someone remembers this. What a joke...

I would never wish long-COVID on anyone, because it sounds so miserable. Seriously. But if Novak had it, I might let out a half chuckle...

I have it. Every time I’ve gotten a cold or flu virus since (happened 3 times in 2 years), it takes me at least two months to get rid of my cough and slight sore throat long after the original virus is cured along with other symptoms. When I exercise and get a bit breathless, I get coughing fits during this period. There is a heat regulation issue where the body gets heated up further as soon as I get slightly hot from the exercise and so I have to avoid playing in the hot sun also. So basically I can’t play singles for 2 months every time I catch any respiratory virus due to bad coughing fits (and the over-heating issue) after a couple of long points that make me breathless. I can play doubles though. When I actually got COVID in mid-2022, I had many of the typical COVID symptoms persist for 2.5 months also even though I tested negative in two weeks.

Djokovic has been sick a couple of times in the Spring according to reports in the last three years and had slumps at Dubai/early clay season while he took a long time to recover. He also looked exhausted from heat in some tournaments on the sidelines. This year, he got sick in Australia and did poorly at IW, skipped Miami and still looks low energy. I can’t help but wonder if he has the same problem I do.

I am hoping that it fades over time for me as there doesn’t seem to be a solution that doctors can provide although they seem to understand the WBC mechanism in the blood that makes it happen with the body’s immune system still active after a virus is gone. Very frustrating though as I travel a lot and it is impossible to not catch some virus however fit you are. I think Djokovic will never be open about it because of his well-known carelessness about COVID and anti-vaccine stance. If I didn‘t suffer from it, I would view it as poetic justice also.

I think it will be an easy W for Rune. Unless its a repeat of how he lost in Miami. Never know whats going to happen.
But even in the 1% chance Rune loses, I will be happy to see a desi fellow onto round 2 of a M1000, as a indian myself.
While Rune is heavy favorite, its not 99%.

Rune has 3 chances in 4 to win according to oddsmakers.

I'm very intrigued by the upcoming Djokovic Safiullin match. That could be a doozy if Novak isn't quite himself. Saffiullin doesn't play a style that gives you much time to fins your game. Shouldn't be a problem for Djokovic. But could get dicey if Roman jumps all over him.

You asked which rounds will he lose? Did you ask to provide a detailed case study with compelling evidence?
Unless someone is in Nole's inner circle, they will not know the answers to any of your questions. Djoker's butt may be hurting but he can always say his elbow hurts and no one can say otherwise.
