Djokovic has lost in the 2nd round or 3rd round in each of the last three years. Which of those rounds will it be this year?

Well, well, well. Looks like Sinner has a pretty fair draw. Looks like all the threats are on the other side. I guess that's what it means to be #2. Not that I think any draw is tough for Djokovic, but his draw is as tough as it can be in MC this year. We'll see what the old man has left in the tank.

Not even a guarantee. He has to beat one of Ruusuvuori or Arnaldi, tricky opponents with enough weapons to take Rune out if he doesn't bring his A game. And after that, he has to face Dimitrov, who has been on FIRE recently and Rune has lost to in straights in Brisbane. Hopefully Mourataglou coaching will do some magic to his game, but I doubt its enough to take down Dimi let alone Sinner. Pretty bad draw for rune :(
EDIT: COMPLETELY FORGOT DIMI BEAT HIM IN BEIJING TOO. chances of Rune doing anything in this tournament are slim to none, unless a good win over Fritz in Indian Wells was indicator of anything.

Oh, I agree with you completely. I don't expect Holger to defend his finalist points from last year unless the draw opens up or he suddenly rediscovers his form. He loves the clay though, so we'll see if that rejuvenates him.

Medvedev vs Zverev again, for the 8th time in just over a year. Zverev probably has post-traumatic stress, he only won 1 out of 7. Alcaraz vs Djokovic is also coming. It's also interesting to see what Sinner will show on clay. Last year he lost to Rune here, and also had a tough match with him at YEC.

Thiem lost his qualifyer against RBA 1:6, 2:6. The score is a bit of a shocker really. If Thiem is still bothered by wrist issues he should do himself a favor by not playing competitive tennis until this is resolved.

Strange draw. For Sinner it is bad good. Looks good higher up but boy Fokina or Korda in the first clay round of the year in slooow Monaco…
Yeah, he’ll want to be sharp for that opener. Both of those guys can really feel the ball well on their day, take it early, change direction, etc. Of course either one of them could just as easily hit 50 unforced errors, so we’ll see lol.

Rune or Dimitrov in the quarters – both have variety to throw Sinner out of his rhythm, potentially. If he plays as well as he has been of late, though, there’s really no one to stop him being in the final.

He’s got a whole crowd behind him. Italians tend to support Monte Carlo really well. If he goes all the way, I’m backing him for the title
