Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Head Graphene Touch Prestige Tour/Mid Racquet

As far as Prestige is concerned, all Graphene versions were a step back from IG, let alone PT or PC. At least for us, more feel-concerned rec players. As for the pro players, we see that most of them play with the old guys - PT600, PT57A or something heavily customized formula-wise that will never hit the common market. Partly, it's our fault too, because I still hear comments like this: "It's a perfect, very light racket!"

What I heard is that the Graphene models went lighter and polarized and this is where the game is at today (yes, there are still the old-school non-polarized players out there). The thing is that these lighter frames can be customized to old-school non-polarized setups with lead tape in the right places.

I got here from a TW tweet and I would have loved to playtest his frame but I'm recovering from illness and won't likely be able to play tennis (outside of some short hits and I'm not even sure about that) for six months so I wouldn't be able to do this playtest anyways. But I'll watch the reviews. I'm an IG Prestige MP user so either of these racquets would probably feel great. But I'd want an XL frame and Head isn't known for those outside of Pro Stocks. One of the guys on SF has at least one of them and I'm waiting for his review (he modified it to 340 grams) but I'll be happy to read the reviews here. I hope that BounceHitBounceHit and Geoff get a shot at this frame.

The feel of the graphene racquets have been horrific.

It's kind of the nature of polarized setups that you sacrifice feel for performance in terms of maximum swingweight for minimum static weight.
No it's not. It's a result of the layup. Placement of weight does not effect the layup. It's the layup that Head decided to use.

Anyone heard anything?
Nothing so far, but as I said earlier... the lack of 'Woohoo! I was selected' posts, as well as TW not updating the first post with 'playtesters have been notified', means we're all still in the running...

Attention TT members,

We had a great turnout and could only select a few. Congrats to those who were selected, you will have received an email, please make sure to respond back. For those who weren't selected, we want to thank you for applying and appreciate your willingness to playtest. Keep trying and don't give up! More opportunities are on the horizon!

Thanks,
TW Staff

@Boyd Clary,

I just looked up your playtest email and you were not eligible for this playtest as you did not provide a full shipping address (only the street address). We need a full shipping address in order to ship the racquets.

For the future, we want to give a couple tips on how to improve your chances on getting selected. Apply for string playtests first and leave detailed, thorough reviews. We generally have a larger amount of strings to send out for playtests and your chances are much higher of being selected. Additionally, it helps if you have a good history on the message board and are participating in a positive way especially in the shoe, string and racquet sections.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Mid testers, roll call pls! :) - Hoping we can exchange notes from the very beginning. I'll be posting pics and giving initial impressions as soon as I receive the racquet.

I'm in. I have been really grooving with the GXT Rev Pro lately. Looking forward to extra weight and stability.

Thanks. And for the record trying all those things. Including my own spontaneous reviews. And I guess got so excited forgot state and zip. Also assume w user name you have account info (since I seem to order something every couple of months).

Just me having bitter grapes. Sorry thanks for the work here.

@Boyd Clary, hang in there, you'll get one eventually.

But do realize it may be a while. I've been around here for over 10 years, and this is only my 3rd official racquet playtest (A Volkl about 6 years ago, the Pure Drive + about 3 years ago, and this one), yet I've applied to every one. I have had the pleasure, though, of being a part of numerous string playtests, a shoe test, an overgrip test, and even a clothing test. You just need to keep contributing to the forum and applying to everything under the sun.

aaaahhhh...i see the "head still makes the PT57" still reference or something along the lines now.

If anyone should get a Prestige playtest, it should be VSB.

I also thought that it would have been so poetic if Breakpoint got in on the RF97 playtest.

So who else will be testing the tour? Can TW provide any hints on SW or RA just to get a feel of how I want to string it? That would be awesome!

Damn. Just realized I asked for the Tour when I meant to say Mid. Wonder if that had any bearing. I suspect most people asked for the Tour. I wanted to compare the mid to the Premier Tour, as they appear to come from the same mold (at least very very similar). Oh well.

I think that’s likely. I don’t think that there are a huge number of players experimenting with racquets looking at mids these days. I’m playing 95 but I’d look more at 95 to 97 if I needed new frames.

They really jumbled the specs around this time. The Pro is now 95 sq in and softer than the MP. Overall I think that the mid is the most attractive to me.

Pro has been softer than the MP since the first Graphene, and they have always been 95 - they are just admitting it now.

For what it's worth, I asked for the mid and didn't get in...
