Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Tecnifibre TFight 295/300/305

I've been looking up Tecnifibre's website to understand their racquets better. Sounds like they have a 'Control' series (305 and 320, both 18x19) and a 'Power/Traditional' series (300 and 315, both 16x19). I am a little confused about where the 'Limited' series fits in all this - it appears the limited ones have 315g unstrung weight, but usually come with substantially lower RA than the 'regular' 315 and 2 string patterns 16x19 and 18x20.

Folks who've played the Limited series - I see a lot about how these compare to the legendary PT280 / PT630. I've played with the PT280, and while the feel is just amazing, my game is a little less effective with it. Any thoughts / opinions on this comparison, especially in the XTC series, where the limited had a 64 RA (somewhat higher than previous Limited series)? And for those that have also played the 305 - how different is this in the 'feel' department ?

Understand this: the 295 is a special 100 SI frame. [emoji3]

I checked this one out - appears to be 69 RA. No doubt will provide lots of power and spin, but I’m always nervous about the comfort levels.

Crap!
I can totally identify with this, only I’m not super surprised I was not selected given their criteria ...

I'm surprised there aren't more players on tour using Tecnifibre... at least according to TW Tecnifibre racquets page.

First racket test I've been selected for (305) and easily the best I've applied to, huzzah!

Can we expect the "prototype cosmetic" to be the same as the picture in the tecnifibre thread?

Thanks TF and TW!

Looks like I didn't get in again, hopefully some more interesting playtests come up relatively soon. Definitely won't stop trying!

i've briefly hit with the 2013 LTD 16x19 and owned the DC ltd 16x19. the XTC is supposed to be the same racket as the DC with a new pj. i'd say the the 2013 model is closer to the PT280 than the DC/XTC. the 2013 has more of that flexy muted feel that the PT280 has while the DC is a tad bit firmer while still retaining excellent feel. the 2013 is also silicone filled while the DC is foam filled, and the layups are slightly different according to TF.

That prototype paint job on the technifibre thread looks amazing! (if it is indeed what we’ll be getting) Any chance we’ll be able to purchase a second racquet in that paint job to match our playtest racquets if we end up liking it enough? @TW Staff

Also, regarding the inclusion of ice code and x-1 biphase, were these strings intentionally selected for this playtest? I know some companies recommend particular strings for certain racquets and I’m wondering if Tecnifibre or TW believes that these strings would be a good pair for this racquet. If so, I would love to hear the thought process behind the recommendation!

cannot speak for TW but X1 is one of the best multis around. I havenot used Ice Code but I’m looking forward to hitting with both strings. I’m probably going to use my current go to string: VolkL cyclone tour as well. It’s not unusual though for manufacturers to send along samples of their popular line of strings though.

Mooooooore please, detailed, EXCPLICIT pics

AWESOME looking so far .......

Comments about its performance?

The feel is remarkable. It reminds me of the new Prestige Mid or PT 2.0. It’s less precise than either, but more powerful. Despite the 69 RA it’s amazingly comfortable to actually PLAY.

I’ve hit four frames recently I could happily play: Head Extreme Tour, Head Prestige Mid, Head PT 2.0, and this TF.

Honestly I’ve never been a big Head fan, but their new frames feel SO good (as does the TF 295)

P.S. I strung them all with Cyclone @ mid recommended tension. 18 g in the Prestige and PT 2.0, 17 in the Extreme and 16 in the TF

If this is true. And it is coming in the prototype paint. My search will be OVER at a young age :D

It is my experience, free from bias. YMMV, of course. But the TF 295 is the best lighter frame I’ve ever hit, period. It’s like a Clash 100 and PT 2.0 had a Love Child [emoji41]

So I spent some time looking into the history of the TFight series since I am not too familiar with Tecnifibre racquets except that my coach currently uses a TF40 305 and seems to like it a lot.

Something that caught my eye was that a previous iteration of the TFight (the LTD line) was made in the mold of the Head PT57a, and I was wondering if the mold has changed since then? Or has the mold pretty much stayed the same but the specs have changed over time?

Edit: I see that the beam thickness has increased from the LTD so it doesn't seem to be the EXACT same mold, but it's hard to tell if the other design elements have changed (e.g., are the edges more rounded and less boxy?)
