Thiem: I am not a machine

Do you really think he can do what Fed never was able to do: beat Nadal/Djokovic back to back in a slam?
Well...

1. Djokovic and Nadal are both mid-30s, so it's not like he'd be beating them in 2011.

2. Beating Nadal at AO isn't as impressive as beating Djokovic here. Rafa is cursed at AO. Either of them may be far from 100% due to injuries.

3. Bear may not have to play both of them.

Don't get me wrong, it'd be very impressive if he beat both, and I'd love it. Would shut up the Big 3 fanarmy finally, at least for a while, or at least stun them for a while. Make them bleed. Make them reassess their fanatical devotion to the (Un)holy Trinity.

He's caught a malware bug though called "instagram bimbo"
She might be a keeper, my man, all I can do is hope he breaks up with her as soon as he sees redflags. If he has a kid with her its RIP.

If it's not a chronic injury he'll be back. I'm lowkey sad because he's known to be one of the nicest people on the tour.
But hey, if he decides to be mechanically accurate about the way he takes those fat Ls, that's one threat down for my boy Jannik.

I will never cease to wonder how you can lose a match from being 2 sets up to a player ranked so far below you!!!

Maybe it's high time he started to acquire a bit more mental machinery???

You cannot un-next gen a next gen. Self-doubt runs in their veins.

Thiem was predicting the future. This is the Bordeaux 2023 challenger, where he went up against Moutet whom is recovering from injury, and can only slice and hit a fairly feeble one handed backhand:
(If you are a Thiem fan, turn away):

Thiem's decline has been tragic. A grand slam champion to a challenger level player in 3 years.
Well, there's a lot going on with the Aix En Provence and Bordeaux challengers, really. It's all in very well to do areas and really well put together. They usually bring in a lot of well known players even outside of France. I very much enjoyed the Murray Wawrinka match.
But, yeah, Thiem seemed to refuse to take advantage of Moutets backhand issues. Thiem seemed to have power in his one-hander, but maybe Moutets lack of power just made it seem so.
In any case, I think Thiem's strategy let him down more than his ability.

Thiem and Halep (now doper) are two with highest loser mentality. But its ok we have winners to see.

I saw this movie without any expectations as I didn't know anything about the manga. Really enjoyed it. I'd love to see how she takes on the sky city of Zalem and the big boss Nova.

But sadly, Disney may not make a sequel as they are all about making more $$ now and Alita Battle Angel didn't make them a lot of money.
I saw the ovas in the 90s.
What memories!

I know he had the injury but it also coincides with publicly ending the relationship with Mladenovic, basically saying he had to focus on tennis and she was a distraction. Tough one.

Thiem just lost at the Heilbronn challenger 6:2, 3:6, 1:6 to Pedro Martinez (ranked #135). Kind of a losing machine he has become?

Honestly at this point he should just retire. I see no chance of any sort of a credible comeback at this stage. It is not like he even has youth on his side anymore either. He got the slam win, so that should make it easier to do.

It's baffling really, since his injury healed quite some time ago and he got some decent results in last fall's indoor season. What is the reason for him being so bad this year when it seemed like he was getting back on track last year? Despite that, I don't think he's just yet at the point where he should consider retiring - I mean there are guys older than him who have been off the tour even longer who are starting comebacks soon - Nishikori and Raonic.

I'd say if there's no (or only marginal) improvement by the end of 2024, then he should hang it up for real.

Thiemug has added a first round loss in the Perugia challenger against 31 years old Stefano Travaglia (ranked #260), 6:2, 6:7, 1:6. It appears that losing the 3rd and deciding set 6:1 is now Thiem´s hallmark. How stupid can one be?

This is a very worrying result. A player of his abilities and past results should not be losing to mug journeymen older than himself in the first round of a challenger, WTF.
