H2H: Nadal leads 1-0
Roland Garros 2013 R64 Nadal d. Klizan 4-6 6-3 6-3 6-3

Nadal starts his Wimbledon sojourn against a young lefty, and a potentially dangerous opponent who made R4 in USO in 2012 upsetting Tsonga, took a set from Nadal in RG last year, made third round in both Slams this year, and won Munich.

...On the other hand, this the guy who lost 1, 0 and 1 to Donald Young in USO 2013 :D (although he beat him back this week in Eastbourne)

Your thoughts? I expect Nadal to win, but he may well lose a set. If he doesn't complete his adaptation to grass, he could be in deep trouble like the last two years.

Klizan in 5. He's definitely a player that can beat Nadal in the early rounds of W.

He's also a guy that should be ranked higher, no?

Klizan in 4. Hopefully Nadal will repeat his performances from previous two Wimbledons.

Enough is enough.

It's interesting that Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic all have lost in the second round of Wimbledon. Djokovic lost to a 2-time Slam champ and former number 1 in Safin which is not as bad as the guys who beat Nadal and Federer.

I would take a couple of extra NADALRECORD accounts over the jinxing clowns on this forum.

Djokovic was coming in after losing a highly competitive match to Nadal in Queens a few weeks before and had a ton of hype and expectations. It was a pretty bad loss and he doublefaulted so much in that match it was hilarious.

Still, its not much of fair comparison, especially with Federer. Djokovic hasn't had a major downturn yet since entering his prime. Federer lost to Stakovsky in 2nd round exactly 10 years after winning his first Wimbledon title. Do you think Djokovic will be nearly as consistent even 3-4 years from now?

In all fairness, Nadal has lost to Rosol and Darcis in the 2nd and 1st rounds here the last two years. It is officially not outrageous to say that Klizan could beat Nadal in 5. Sorry, that's the reality now with Nadal on grass.

That guy has been saying Nadal will lose every match he has played in the last 2 months.

As for klizan, can he even play on a grass court? Darcis actually loves playing on grass.

Ah, didn't know he was a repeat offender. My bad.

Klizan: He's more of a clay court player who can also play well on hard courts. Grass definitely isn't his surface of choice so I guess it's a bit of a different story from an attacking player like a Rosol or Darcis, but I still feel like Nadal could lose to anyone early on grass. It's a stigma now.

Now that I think about, I feel bad for calling out M2nk2 now. I guess Wimbledon is a tournament in which Nadal can be predicted to go out early. I hadn't gotten over his antics throughout the entire clay court season this year. His fanboy instincts caused him to toggle Clarky Mode.

I will issue M2nk2 an apology without hesitation if Nadal gets whooped in round 1, but with these journeyman opponents I don't understand why some fans are so certain that Nadall will get knocked for certain. If I was a Nadal fan, I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal got knocked in the first round, but I would at least have some belief that Nadal can get through. Even though Darcis and Rosol beat Nadal the past 2 years, he isn't the underdog in this match.

A little deeper recent bio on Klizan...he just won 2 matches @Eastbourne in warm-up for SW19...both vs lefties (Delbonis, Young) in straight sets. His new coach, Martin Damm, was a good grass court player (3R Wimby twice, SF dubs) and has spearheaded his climb back into top 60 after a horrible '13 season. The guy will be a tough test for a rusty Nadal. If Klizan were to win, it should not be considered as big a shock as either of the last two upsets of Nadal at Wimby.

I don't think 130 is NADALRECORD. 130 used to attempt to pretend to be N.S.K. but recently has become very very bitter. More like NADALRECORD is actually N.S.K.

But back to the topic I'll go with Klizan in 3. Yep he played well in the French so I think he'll have a good match against Nadal. The fact that he's lefty means that Nadal doesn't have the benefit of looping the FH to the BH anymore.

He probably uses proxies or VPNs to coverup.

On MTF, NR has been banned but not listed in the banned members list. Probably, for multiple accounts.

I'm tempted to vote for Klizan in (probably) 4 sets, but I still can't vote against Nadal in any early round match where he's favoured by a nice bit.

Nadal in four; he's been shaky on grass so far, but i'm sure he'll recover and at least get through Klizan.

Predicted score: Nadal def. 2-6 6-3 6-5 6-3

Klizan is 3-2 against top 15 opponents in slams (Wins - Tsonga, Isner, Nishikori. Losses - Nadal, Berdych). In one of those losses, he took a set from Nadal at RG. He's also 2-0 this year.

He's the type who rises to the occasion.

LOL, I don't think you could make it any more obvious that you're willing Klizan to beat Nadal in the 1R! :)

Rosol will show nothing of his form 2 years ago. He had his one shot and he is done and will go away meekly and pitifully to Nadal. If he even gets to Nadal. I think Rosol might be done in the first round

Oops I posted in the wrong thread sorry!
I do not think Klizan will win but he does have a live arm and young legs.

In all fairness though, Nadal's knees were bad and grass is the worst surface for bad knees. He didn't take 7-8 months off in 2012 and miss the Olympics and other hugely important tournaments just because he wanted a rest from tennis. If Rosol makes it to the 2nd round, he'll lose in straight sets to a much healthier Nadal.

Nadal is predicted not to make it to the SF meeting with Federer so it would be just as easy for him to lose in R1 as it would be anywhere...

All I can say is uh oh.

I don't think you should worry. Problem for Klizan is that this Grass surface has bad bounces and low bounces and it really throws his timing off so much so that he will mishit so many balls and NOT be able to display his power game.
RAFA should take this one easier than many people think.............

How is Klizan actually winning the poll?

I realise Nadal has been prone to early round upsets recently on grass but...

Of the 9 people who voted for a result in 5 sets, all of them opted for Klizan.

No. When Federer was in his prime like Djokovic he was not making QF exits in slams.
