Thankfully, I didn't get to see Lucie unravelling spectacularly. She was playing so well this week only to end like this.
I do wonder. They really ought to finish it if at all possible or tomorrow's gonna be rough.

That game which she had 3 match pts was freaking 16 mins long !! SS really stepped it up a notch and Saf seemed to be playing to not lose. That one game was so long

ESPN showed side by side picture and they've got the blowers out. I wasn't sure if it was still raining when I posted. So at this point it seems that match at least will finish. Hopefully Halep is able to get on court at a somewhat reasonable time. She's due on court after Mugu/Svitolina finishes?
She is. I do hope she makes it. It would suck to have to do back to back tomorrow potentially.

If Sloane wins the title (big IF I know) she'll have arguably one of the hardest runs to the title we've seen in recent times.

I don't see Pliskova doing much as a #1. She won't disappear like Kerber. But just too inconsistent, as they all are. Bring back Serena and Sharapova.... maybe Kvitty and Azarenka.... to restore order to the WTA!

Can these new/older new players create this new world order? Thought it was going to be an "older" Kerber. She has just vanished since getting #1. Still early, but don't see Pliskova being that anchor to hold down that top spot. Hopefully she can. I like her and Ostapenko. Ostapenko is a breath of fresh air. Love her game and spirit. Would be great to see those two batteling for slams.Would love to see the new blood vanquishing the old (not Sharapova though)...with solid and consistent players in the top 3 or 4. Players who can create some great rivalries. That's suppose to be how tennis creates interest has prospered. Hope it happens. The old guard will be back in full force shortly.

RG was already Simona's revenge for Rome (where she lost 1-6 in the 3rd set to Elina). No further revenge required.
Slight disadvantage for Elina. Didn't see it but stats indicate that she had a tough 3-setter this morning vs Gabby. Elina's match lasted an hour longer (and ended an hour later), than Simona's 2-set win over Caroline Garcia.

OTOH ESPN2 will have a fair amount of coverage of both WTA & ATP throughout the day today.
Sloaney didn't play half as bad as result would indicate (nearly a 90 minute long match, lots of tight service games), but tanked her 2nd serve and let Woz draw her into long rallies WAY too much. Wasnt bad at handling rallies tbf but no match for Woz the wall.

Hard to say. Elina is up 2-0 in h2h (both HC). But Caro is up against the defending champ, Simona, 3-2 in h2h. But on HC, Simona leads 2-1 (from 2012 to 2015).
