Exactly. I just watched a quick video of him in a recent match and his game doesn't look anything special. Just looks like a worse version of Alcaraz.

He beat the world #1 just last week
Yeah, did that just so he could get heckled as a “loser” minutes later by someone in the Montreal tunnel; probably a TTW member.Strategic tank.
I told you he is not a real top 10 playerShelton is all over ruud this is embarrassing.
Casper needs to consider retirement if he loses here. This guy is a world #3???
The commentary I got on this match from APTTV was awful. For the first set and a half it was non-stop demonizing Shapo, even suggesting that he should go back to challengers but saying what would that change. Then a couple of games of praise and back-tracking, then no commentary for the third set.A catastrophic derailment for Paul. Shapo couldn't win 2 points in a row to save his life until Tommy started spraying errors. Shapo has played much better since the middle of the second, though, but mostly because Paul gave him some breathing room.
Murray makes an utter mess of a couple of bp chances.
He matches up well against him. And Med actually played a pretty poor match. Wasn’t close to his best. The moment he plays guys that make him uncomfortable and that he can’t emotionally manipulate, like Hurcakz and Fritz, he’s done. Basically there’s nothing new about Kyrgios. He’s not playing any better this year. He’s just playing utter mugs. The only thing his “run” has proved is that the tour is the worst it’s ever been in a long while. Even Kyrgios was a much better player in 2017, than he is today. He beat the world #1 just last week

haha
I thought he had the ab injury while serving? That doesn't make any sense to endanger his USOpen chances.Just realized Nadal is playing Cincy.
He often plays Canada and has skipped Cincinnati when he goes deep up north. This year he wasn’t ready with the ab strain and needed the extra week to rehab so he’s back in The Real Slam for the first time since 2017.I thought he had the ab injury while serving? Plus he usually skips Cincy as the surface doesn't suit him.
Interesting, so is he now sponsored by yonex? He could have been before but assumed he wasn’t without the stencil.Tennisnerd has a closeup on their website that clearly shows 18x20 HD and states he’s on the list to receive the newer 2021 cosmetics sticks before playing USO.
With a father who has pro playing experience, Ben will not deviate from what has gotten him here so any change will be cosmetic only.
Sponsorship may void his amateur status, which he hasn’t abandoned until he decides whether to return to play under his dad at University of Florida.Interesting, so is he now sponsored by yonex? He could have been before but assumed he wasn’t without the stencil.
I would be interested to see a match with amount of spin. His forehand was dipping as hard as anyone I’ve ever seen, especially watching court level practice.

Didn’t know this could happen. Thanks for the info.Sponsorship may void his amateur status, which he hasn’t abandoned until he decides whether to return to play under his dad at University of Florida.
I think he stays on at Gainesville as HC and hand picks the traveling crew to tour with Ben, traveling with his son only when there’s no conflict with the Gator schedule.Real question is: what does dad do if/when he turns pro? He's been coaching the kid his whole tennis life, I'm sure he'd love to keep doing it at PRO level... At the same time, Bryan doesn't strike me as someone who would nonchalantly walk away from his job, where he happens to be putting together a HOF NCAA coaching career...
Nadal's serve looks better today than its looked at any event this year, and that was the only thing stopping him from winning the US Open, his stomach injury/serve. A+++ serving today
what's up with so many people choking from up breaks?
alcaraz was up a set and double break last week and lost to tommy paul.
paul was up a set and double break 4-1, serving for 5-1 and lost to shapo today.
tiafoe was up a break in 3rd set today and lost to korda.
He was bringing big cheese on the serve so I think he’s no longer timid about swinging big with that repaired shoulder. Other than that, he still had some holes to mend, right up to the last 15 minutes of the match. Too many groundies buried in the net when pressured.Did not see Coric winning against Nadal today. Great result for him, though. Maybe he's finally (sort of) back, we'll see more of him at a higher level.
Kyrgios a ‘serious contender’ at the USO
Something tells me FAA may not have such an easy time with young Jannik tomorrow as he did in Madrid.
Who do you have, and in how many sets? I am going with Sinner in 3.
What did you think of Nadal’s loss?I am rooting for Fritz over Rublev, Shapo over Medvedev, Schwartzman over Tsitsipas, Coric over Bautista Agut, Isner over Korda, Shelton or Norrie, Auger-Aliassime over Sinner, and ALCARAZ over everybody!
I tend to root for underdogs. I do like Medvedev but I would prefer for Shapo to win today. So long as my Carlitos wins all will be forgiven as far as other matches are concerned! (;
I really like Coric and thought they both played really well! Super happy for Borna! Each set came down to just a few poorly played points and it was a match that really could have gone either way. I was glad that it wasn't "rust" that was the reason for Rafa's loss; he still played very well! What did you think of Nadal’s loss?
I don't think anybody did, but Nadal didn't really bring his best stuff (or maybe even his average game).Did not see Coric winning against Nadal today. Great result for him, though. Maybe he's finally (sort of) back, we'll see more of him at a higher level.
Coric is a bit of a "big match" player, kind of like a Kyrgios. Decent H2H against all the big players except Djokovic really. But yet to break into the top 10.I don't think anybody did, but Nadal didn't really bring his best stuff (or maybe even his average game).
With that said, Coric took care of business which for most mugs is still a big ask. Served effectively, and backhand crosscourt was absolutely money.

3-2 Medvedev
3-2 Nadal
3-3 Zverev
2-2 Murray
1-1 Del Potro
1-1 Tsitsipas
2-3 Thiem
2-4 Federer
1-3 Wawrinka
0-4 Djokovic
0-8 Cilic (weirdly)
Looks like he’s saying, “I choked on that one.”What is that hand in the mouth gesture by Rublev mean, lol?
