Im hearing reports Dementieva is gonna coach Bouchard.

I'll get a link as soon as I can!

EDIT: Elena is in on-going talks with her to coach her on a trial basis.

I rule it out. She had great chances, and blew them all. She doesn't have the mental strength. She's gone downhill since she's gotten involved with Rory. I think she'll be like the Russian, who dates the singer.

I've recently watched highlights of the 2009 US Open final between Wozniacki and Clijsters and the level of tennis was pretty high in that particular match. I don't think she's been able to reproduce that form. She really gave Clijsters a run for her money, and the Belgian was playing her best tennis. I was actually surprised.

She was doing pretty well last year when she took a reasonably healthy Serena out in Miami, one of the few to do so of late. She took Serena by surprise with an improved serve. I thought, ok maybe there's hope. I don't think I've seen her do anything since :(

I really don't know what's wrong with her! You could blame coaching for lack of improvement, but she is devolving. And she had the same boyfriend while successful. It seems like lack of confidence maybe? And the others have raised their raised their game?

After her mixed doubles win in Wimbledon, back to reality for Mladenovic. As the #3 seed in Palermo, she looses to the Spanish player Estrella Caneza Candela 6-3, 2-6, 7-6[6]. She came back from a one set to love situation and from 3-5, and 15-40 at 5-5 on her serve, and save 3 MPs to come back at 6-6 in the tie-break to eventually loose 8-6.

I don't think it's a choke, but to go from mixed doubles on grass to singles on clay against a Spanish player and likely clay-court specialist in less than a week isn't the most clever thing to do IMO. Well, since she's ranked 39 and had a first round exit against Sharapova at Wimbledon, she's maybe seeking for a seeding for the USO. I think it would be the first time in her career she'd be seeded in singles at a slam. Note that the #32 ranked player is her fellow countrywoman Alizé Cornet, who is 249 points ahead of her. To the delight of English people, Robson made it into the top 32 thanks to a convincing Wimbledon run loosing against Kanepi in R16. She's now ranked 27.

On the other hand, she's scheduled to play the doubles semi-finals tomorrow as the #1 seed after two straight sets victories in the first two rounds. She is paired with a Polish player named Katarzyna Piter, who is ranked #116 in doubles and is 2 years older than the young French player.

Say, Nestor was pretty nice to her in the post-match interview after the win in finals at Wimbledon.

Couldn't care less about women's tennis to be honest.

It's almost as bad as watching women play football.

Have the French press, as you predicted, embraced Bartoli and started acting like they supported her all along? How has her coverage been there? And congrats, btw.

Hey! Good news from one of our floor leaders. Zvonereva has been making the most of her shoulder surgery rehab, by completing her masters in international economic relations. She plans to study other subjects as well and get more degrees. Will return to tennis when her shoulder is 100% (if that ever happens). Wasn't a huge fan, but the girl could bring the drama like no other and I miss that!

Good for her. I actually really like her. Well....I like her minus her Oscar worthy emotional meltdowns when she hits a few errors. A masters ain't easy and its nice to see she is planning for a post tennis life.

That said she tennis wise has been cursed in some ways. First time she hit the top 10 she got a wrist injury now a shoulder injury. I hope she comes back though, she had some nice groundstrokes...just never had the head to match.

Here's another great example of 2009 Wozniacki, this time against Serena. The change between then and now is pretty massive; I can't imagine her playing like this these days.

She needs to figure out a way to play in that same, mentally unfettered way if she's ever to have a hope of a Slam.

Yes they did. TBH, it was already annoying during the second women SF, or both men SF: they talked about her at every changeover. Literally.

Sharapova dumped her coach.... I don't know what else the guy could have done.

Improved her fitness... YES
Improved her serve.... YES
Got her back to #1 (briefly)......YES
Guided her to a major.... YES

The only thing he couldn't do was get her to beat Serena. Oh well, maybe he'll offer his services to Kvitova or Wozniacki.

What's the reason?? I mean he took a girl with a busted shoulder and got her back as close to her preinjury self as she is probably ever gonna get.

If Woz has any sense she will go chasing him down the street with a blank check in her hand yelling help.

It will b e interesting to see what he does with the Woz Master's game. I know he worked with big hitters (Na, Haas, Maria) so it will interesting to see how he approaches Caroline's game.

Jimmy Connors is her new coach - to be honest, don't see what coaches can do more for Sharapova. I think she's reached and optimized her physical peak at 25 for sure with the help of Hogstedt but from there on now, she'll be swimming into "decline" waters - next year is going to make it her 10th straight year at the top and she's been sustaining the best period of her career for 2 years... not sure how long she can hold that knowing that she's not a physical talent for a start ; and this is what brought her all the consistency and regularity of the past 2 years.

I was wondering if he dumped her...she says she never listens to him when he gives her on court coaching, that she's stubborn and does what she wants. Maybe he feels like he's done all that she'll let him do, and that her lack of plan B is reflecting poorly on him. Maybe he'd rather coach someone who's a little more coachable. I wonder where he'll turn up next?

Bouchard and Ivanovic are looking for coaches, Thomas may just be the guy for Ana I think.

Im hoping this Bouchard/Dementiva thing comes to fruition though.

Still baffled by Maria's decision, Thomas improved her game a TON.

Connors actually may not be a horrible coach for her. He certainly know what it takes to maintain physical condition into what may be considered twilight years and actually might be able to smack some sense into her mentally when it comes to playing people like Vika and Serena. Plus Connors had a lot of tools and maybe he can help her stop relying so much on power and learn something else

But then again she is such a control freak and seems to not care what others think that Connors being her coach could be a recipe for disaster.

Mladenovic gets a tournament win in Palermo tagged with K. Piter. They defeated the Pliskova twins in 3 sets 6-1, 5-7 and 10-8 in the Super Tie-Break. Mladenovic confirms she's a good doubles player. She seriously needs a seeding in USO to get at least through two or three rounds instead of being "victim" of the draw.

He may have but maybe he couldn't take her any further? I think she was very very disappointed at getting pasted by serena again at the FO and an early wimbledon exist was the nail in the coffin.

I'd hate to be her coach, she has to be one of the most unnatural tennis players to ever make it as far as she has.

I'd love to coach her. I'd much rather coach someone who has the determination and will work really hard than someone who has talent but won't work hard.

Sugarpova changed her coach because he won't be able to travel internationally soon.

On another note, does Simona Halep ever stop playing tennis?

She's second seed in a tournament with Serena in. If there was ever a tournament not worth following, I guess this is it.

Well, we'll see how that pans out - I also heard that Connors takes a lot of money for the player he coaches ; he also doesn't have great knowledge about women's tennis apparently too.

Anyways, her future results will tell.

And apparently Hogstedt has become Wozniacki's new coach... Ok, lol now.

If Caroline is willing to devote herself fully to Hogstedt and Dad completely divorces himself from coaching Caroline, I think that this could be good for her. Maybe she finally opened her eyes and saw what ditching parents as coaches have done for Aga, Serena and Marion.

That said there is a lot of work to be done if Caroline wants to be competitive in slams, namely that forehand. Also, he needs to make her counteract her default defensive nature. Maybe he can also keep McIlroy away so she can really focus on her game. Both Caroline's and McIlroy's games has suffered since they became a couple. I think that it is sweet that they have this "young and in love" thing going, but statistically speaking it probably won't last and both will look back at their careers and have major regrets.

Really happy about that. Woz is just wasting her potential right now. Somebody has to stop the bleeding and bring her old confidence back..

I'm super excited about this. I'm not a big fan of Caro's, but definitely not a hater...I feel like much of the grief she's gotten hasn't really been her fault. She's too young to be written off for good, and a former number 1 floundering around like this looks bad. If she can learn some new skills and strategies, it would be great. Last spring, she did manage to improve her serve and surprise Serena in Miami. Then she regressed. Hopefully she will fully commit and focus, and Piotre will defer to the new coach's plan.

If daddy dearest sincerely meant what he said about backing out and handing her tennis over to another coach totally, then this may be the best possible thing for Caro. He is a solid coach and can definitely get her in shape and drill her the way she really needs to be a contender. If he can do for Caro's forehand what he did for Maria's serve...there may be hope for her yet.

Epic fail! Lol! From Caro's twitter (not a follower, I searched it out I swear:)):

Funny how busy the media is to find me a new coach! How about stop making stories and assumptions, ill let you know if anything new happens!

How about you let us know when you decide to start playing tennis again?! Seriously, WWWH?

How about she get her act together and actually hire the coach that everyone is hinting she ought to instead of mindlessly drifting backwards down the rankings and declining in her game.

I mean for pity sakes she is so messed up now if she could play her 2009-2010 self she would lose in straight sets. Wake up girl and take the hint.

She already got promoted to co-floor leader...is she trying to invent a new position for herself? Like vice president in charge of diminishing returns? Executive dilettante? What's wrong with her????

Well for a start:
1. Daddy - he for to long refused to step out and let in an outside influence and another coach. If he had stepped back in 2010 or maybe even 2011 and someone like Marias now former coach had come in then she wouldn't be as bad off as she is now.

2. Her confidence- the media ripped her to shreads when she was number 1 and they ripped her when she lost #1 and now the only time anyone notices her is when she is watching her boyfriend play golf. In 2010 she at least had some backbone and of you wanted to beat her you at least had to focus and really play pinpoint offense. Now she is scared of almost everybody it seems and her once solid defense is horrible. All the loses and the bashing have taken a toll and now she can't even rely on what used to be her strength. Plus having a boyfriend who is better at his sport than she is at hers right now probably doesn't help.

3. Fitness- its gone downhill the last 2 years. Her movement is worse and she can't stay in rallies like she used to.

4. Poor tactical mind- there are just so many times lately she puts the ball places that make want to throw something at her. At least before she had some plan even if it was to make her opponent hit an error. Now its like she's playing chess and just letting her opponents take her pieces and then going "how did that happen"

Then there is her forehand, her inability to slide, daddy again (just because he really is that big a part of her issues).....

I mean...I'm not trying to come off harsh but her biggest problem is not any of those but it seems to be she is so wrapped up and doesn't seem to realize that any of these things are problems at all....

Someone needs to wake her up.

Well, good news for Woz on that front at least- Rory Mac currently sucks just as bad as she does in addition to his equipment change, agent change etc.

But, of course, he still looks much more likely than Wozniacki to turn it around. Too much talent.

Edit: He-he, totally jinxed him... +8 first round score at the Open

Finally things are going well in Swedish tennis! Johanna Larsson, who has the game to beat anyone, yet inexplicably is seated at #76 in the rankings (no idea why, she can display excellence at times) is up against Serena Williams tomorrow. It's the best of both worlds for Swedish tennis fans.

Why did Serena play bastad again? She only won 280 points from it.

Similar to Stanford (where she is the 2-time defending champ) but with a much easier draw...why not? There was probably a nice appearance fee as well.

Though I'm not sure I agree with playing on 3 different surfaces in such a short span before the final slam of the year...Serena should be honing her fast-court game after her struggles at Wimbledon.

Serena goes undefeated on clay in 2013 and has won clay events at GS, Premier Mandatory, Premier 5, Premier and International level this year.

The Clayrena Sweep is complete.
She is 51-1 on clay since 2012, her worst surface.

IN-SANE!!!!
