The grass-court season isn't over yet folks. The Hall of Fame Tennis Championships - the only grass-court tournament outside Europe - takes place next week. It's a small tournament, dominated by Americans as you can imagine, but it's one last bit of grass-court tennis for grass lovers.

I reckon Isner is probably overdue for another title win and he's won here before, I think!

I've gone for Hewitt, if this is his final full season what better to win your 2nd title in 2014!

Ryan Harrison is destroying Hewitt.

Hewitt has since leveled the match, winning the 2nd set 7-5, and now he's serving at 2-all in the 3rd.

I realize Hewitt is a shadow of his former self but why in the world is he being troubled by Ryan Harrison??

That was a very ugly tennis match and Hewitt just scraped through. He's going to have to improve from that if he wants to defend his points (and hopefully add some more)

Harrison was never going to be an elite player with his flawed forehand, but it's still sad that he was much better as a teenager then now in his early twenties.

Aussie torch ready to be handed off to the new generation...Saville did a fine job today over Polansky and, of course, Kyrgios is leading the way with that Wimby run.

why dont' they import the Grass from Wimbledon and make this same surface as Wimbledon? this grass at Newport is too fast and it is boring tennis overall.

Why should Newport cater to anybody else? Tennis needs diversity. There aren't many ultra fast courts left in the world so if anything they should keep it this way.

Rye grass is better. it lasts longer and Greener(which is better for TV). and more rallies which is more fun tennis. Tennis is Entertainment business and It caters to US the audience and crowd. It is supposed to please US the fans.

Is this something you're rehearsing for school or is it an actual argument?

I also think it would be fitting for Isner and Mahut to meet in the final to be decided by a TB in honor of Jimmy Van Alen, the creator of the tiebreak AND the Tennis HOF!

Isner vs Mahut in the final, and right before the final the organizers will announce that there will be no deciding TB in the final...

I suspect there is a really evil streak in you somewhere!

Edit: But it won't need to come out. Mahut just lost to a 26 year old Aussie called Samuel Groth!

Dr. IVO have good chance to win here. with this surface so fast, nobody can return his serve

He will face an "unreturnable" in the SF vs Groth, he of the 263kph Challenger serve. The odd part of that serve by Groth...it was a second serve, it jammed the returner on his BH but was returned and Groth had to hit two volleys to win the point!

Dan Markowitz (from Tennis Prose) says he's watched both at Newport this year and says Groth serves a lot bigger. If Dr Ivo's 1st serve is 128, Groth's regularly hits 142. Oddest thing is, Sam is "only" 6"2.

Good win for Hewitt over Steve Johnson 6-4, 6-4. I watched some of it and Hewitt just neutralized Johnson's fire power and was too consistent for him.

Right now Sock is playing Isner, Sock serving 0-1 on serve

hard to watch this on tv...bright, higher angle, different grass than W, ball disappears into the court

Some nice plot lines to the SFs...we will get one huge serve in the final (Ivo/Groth) along with a veteran grass player or a young American on a roll after his dubs triumph @SW19. It could be Aussie/Aussie or an all-Metamucil final. I'd even like a SamSock battle. Great tourney so far!

Hewitt - Groth would be something, wouldn't it? An all-Australian final at an ATP Tour event. How long since that last happened?

I don't know if it was the last one but Hewitt defeated Stoltenberg in the Sydney final in 2000. He also beat Stoltenberg in the Adelaide final in '98 but got some revenge later that year in R16 @Newport.

Hewitt/Rafter was never a final but they met in a SF @'01Cinci with Rafter winning.
