Yay Jo!!! Biggest title of her career to date and for any British female tennis player since Ginny Wade's 1977 Wimbledon win (I think)!!!:D

This will boost her ranking to #7 in the WTA rankings. Keep it going Jo, keep it going!!! :p

We finally have genuine slam interest on both the men's and women's side since, well, since I don't know when! Jo is the real deal, a genuine slam contender and the other women will now have noticed her big time.

Probably since Roger Taylor (outside chance) and quite a few British female champions then.
Prior to that Perry and Dorothy Round.

Congratulations Jo :)

Yep, she could have easily taken the ball in the air.. but hesitated and let it bounce ... could have been costly but she came through
I think that shook her up, took. As I recall she did not break and then had deuce in her own next game. Lucky for Konta, Woz wasn't playing sharp and lost the game.

Great win for Konta, happy for her. She really is a class act and deserves the title. She had a scare against Halep, but got it together and she was in control from then on out. She definitely did her work on Woz, and I think her over hitting some of those shots was her trying to shut down the Dane early...thankfully for her she reigned it in.

Woz...well...she's having a bridesmaid season so far with these finals and losing them, but she too should he very proud of what she has accomplished in the last 8 months or so. Hopefully both have further successes this year...because I'd rather have them in top 10 then several of the women currently there.

Both Konta and Caro could have mediocre clay seasons and still surge up the rankings and the race standings. Neither are defending anything and several people above them are defending quite a lot.

However, neither of them is suited to clay really. Konta is more suited to hard and grass despite her results on grass, and Woz...well...her movement on clay is not consistent and she seems to have gone schedule crazy this year. I'm not really looking forward to the clay season because most of the ladies doing well right now are not suited for dirt. It's going to be a little messy.

Although Jo's game isn't best suited to the slow bounce on clay, she's already shown she can adapt/improve her game, so I can see her overcoming her shortcomings and going much further this year.

Konta has had some good grass court results in her home town of Eastbourne.

Yeah, in Wimbledon last year she came up against Bouchard while she was in one of her weird mini-purple patches, plus her own form took a little dip that match. If things had worked out a little differently she could have easily gone deep in Wimby.

But generally, there's no reason grass should be a drawback for her if she's in form.
