The attitudes in this thread absolutely suck. You guys just watched one of the greatest slam final matches (if not the greatest) since the 2012 Australian Open.

And all you guys do it **** and moan. Just disgusting.

Damn, why not revel in the moment of incredible high-level tennis in a slam final? Christ.

Amen. That was the most screaming at a TV the wife and I ha e done in a long time!

Match that with Bianca yesterday and what an amazing two days!

By making Medvedev serve again, Nadal scopes out where the next shot is likely to go. Gives him a competitive edge in reading his opponent after his opponent just hit an ace, similar to what happens during a 2nd serve.

But really what I was getting at was the "1st serve" was the 2nd one Medvedev would have hit at that point, making it a 2nd serve.

Yea I saw that and I definitely did not like that. That wasn't right. I let it go because Medvedev hit the ace a second time but that was not cool. I agree.

"We've never seen a North American hard court season like this, 4 finals 1 title..."

Um, Pat Rafter won Cincy, Canada and the US Open in 1998.

Regardless of the outcome Medvedev helped make this the best USO final since 2009 (No that's not a dig a Federer. That was just a great 5 set final).

This was a terrific match, but the 2012 final was better when Murray edged Djokovic in 5 to become the first Brit to win a major since Fred Perry in 1936.

I’m guessing Rafa got sick and tired of the weak draw criticisms of his past US Opens and decided to give everyone an epic dramatic final.

Should’ve have won over two hours ago but who cares

What a champion what a player. 2020 is going to be quite the year in tennis

Historically it was amazing, but the quality of tennis tonight was much higher just looking at the stats. Murrovic had like double the errors to winners, whereas Nadal finished +16 and Med finished +18.

Not my usual demenour, but this was too much. Like we came back in all these lost five sets: AO12, AO17, WIM18 and played them till the end, till the win.
Well, yes. This win is not over Federer or Djokovic and he should have won in straights...But he missed just two chances, and then Medvedev simply started GOATing. It was unreal level from him. I don't know how Nadal won that fifth set. LOL, if I hear one more time about Nadal's "easy" USO draws...

That was one fantastic speech from Med, especially considering how gutted he must be feeling. I really do think he'll go far.

I don't think he's gutted at all. If anything, he is quite proud and he should be. He gave the crowd a great match despite being down to 2 sets and came dangerously close to even winning. I am sure he wanted to win too but I am also sure he knew it would be a monumental task for him to win against Rafa.

Listen, I don't like gamesmanship that much either. However, you need to understand that Medvedev was also using gamesmanship by quick-serving. Roddick used to do that *all* the time after he won a point and the umpire would actually stop him. The serve clock really complicates the situation. But I actually thought the umpire called Nadal for time violations at the perfect times. Nadal even got broken because of it.

Relax and enjoy. It was a great final. We haven't seen the last of Medvedev and probably not the last of Nadal or the other Big-3.
Medvedev was up to the line fast a lot of times, yes, but he waited for Nadal to get settled before serving. For the most part, it worked fine for both players, but a handful of times Nadal claimed he wasn’t ready and made Medvedev re-serve. It was particularly egregious on that break point. Disappointing behavior from Nadal, in my opinion.
