Hardcourt GOAT at work. In historical terms, Djoker had a hardcourt 250 in Tokyo and a hardcourt 500 in New York to complete one of the rarest feats in sport. He choked.

Gotta suck that clay specialist Nadal is still better at half the hardcourt slams.

So, he just beat the goat in straight sets

It can happen after all the previous few contenders for GOAT were crushed in straight sets. Sampras 7-6 6-1 6-1 by Hewitt. Fed several times by Nadal
Fooled the field for a while now but has been found out. It has been coming to be honest

Lol he gets outplayed in one match and suddenly he has been found out. I am sure i heard the same thing when Rafa hammered him in 2020 and we all know what happened next

Stands true. Just posted that many are pathetic losers. Look at NYC crowd. They are there and you are here. My kids are there, at Arthur Ashe. Cheering on both players.

It doesn't matter where people are, you shouldn't generalise them just because of how they like to enjoy their tennis. It's also a given hypocrisy to criticise people for cheering for/against a player... I'd find it hard to believe you have never cheered against someone in your life. Oh and by the way, I don't condone the booing from the crowd, but your post is just unnecessarily abrasive and just comes across as your own way of venting frustration.

Medvedev celebration (That fall) is L2 + LEFT in FIFA.

I'm surprised no one know this, all of you said his celebration is awkward but he planned it lol.
Lol is that what he said at the end of his speech? Couldn’t quite understand. It’s been years since I’ve played FIFA but now that you mention it I totally recognize it. Tbh he should’ve saved that one for a European crowd.

A win today would have made the rest of Novak's career so much more relaxing to watch for me, but 4/4 was too good to be true I guess. He'll move on as always. After all he's done a humongous job this season as it is.

The one positive for me is that he lost to Medvedev of all people. I want to hate him for today but I just can't. Same for Delpo @ Olympics. Any other players in their place instead and I'd be buying and burning their lookalike voodoo dolls.

Congrats to the Russian. Really made my generation of 96 proud.

Congrats to Meddy. So refreshing to have one of his gen get a slam and so convincingly. Guy his age beating a vet on these fast courts is absolutely normal and healthy. I loved his reaction, too. Just took it all in with real perspective and a sense of humour.

I'm honestly...kind of speechless.
I know I'm not the first, but I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations. I know most of us rooting for Daniil today were doing so because we’re just jackasses rooting against Djokovic. But you’re one of the few genuine fans of a non-Big 3 player here. You’re in these match threads watching him every match he plays, keeping track of the schedule, historic trends, running the math on ranking point scenarios, etc. You’ve been all in on him for years now and I’m happy for you that your moment is finally here. (y)

Do you think winning GS is that easy?

What the last few months have shown is that this is why we love sport. You just never know what is going to happen on the day.

Nearly everyone thought Rafa was a lock to beat Novak at RG, and if you had said at 0-5 if first set that Novak would win in four you would have been laughed at. Likewise if you were to believe majority on here Novak was string favourite tonight.

It's not a matter of choking, Medvedev was the vastly superior player. FAA has a long way to go and I'm not serious about him being to blame.

.....

Medvedev choked today, and in Australia. The difference is that he was finally able to turn it around today.

FAA won more games in his first semi than Medvedev did in his second final. Let's not get carried away.

First of all as a Novak fan congrats to Medvedev and his fans, played an amazing match today and throughly deserves his first grand slam title.

As a Novak fan wow what a year seeing him win 3 Slams in a row and the first 3 and being one match away from the calendar Grand Slam is something I never thought was possible. It’s been quite the ride.

I think he can relax now the pressure is off in many ways and I still think he has a great shot at the slam record.

Lol, "carried away" ? Medvedev is a vastly superior player on HC as of now, period. Doesn't matter if FAA won more points in hist first slam SF than Medvedev at AO, what kind of logic is that ?

The point is that Medvedev lost the AO badly, but was Djokovic a VASTLY superior HC player in 2021?

Nadal lost to Novak at the French Open so keep crying.

I think Novak should take a month or two off and forget about tennis. This a crushing loss and sometimes the best thing is to take a break and regather.

I would only play a couple more tournaments this year and then get myself mentally fresh and fit for start of next year.
That's what the Fan Boys said after the Olympic debarcle... didn't work then, won't work now.

Medvedev joins Thiem, Wawrinka, Murray and Cilic as a Grand Slam champion since 2010 that isn't from the big 3 :)

At the beginning of the match I told my husband: if there's a problem this umpire won't be able to manage the situation. He always folds like a cheap chair in front of bullies.
Yea, it was out of control when Med was serving @ 5-2. You gotta make the crowd understand there won’t be any tennis until they shut up.

Congrats to Med. I was pulling for Joker but also tired of all of the Young Players suck comments. I think Nole can relax now. Does he have another in him? He may pull out one.
