Dude where tf was this FH last year

This is definitely one of the better performance Fed has put against Stan though. Normally their matches are very gritty and lot of errors. But today Fed was very clean.

It was a great performance. Better than normal against Stan for sure, but both of you are right. Stan is always uncomfortable playing Roger on a HC, and one of the things I noticed tonight was that as soon as Federer noticed Stan hitting a few clean groundstrokes and getting in the zone, he'd drop shot him and it would just throw Stan off completely. It's not the first time he's done it either.

Just saw the highlights. Looked like very solid play from Fed. good serving, disrupting Stan's rhythm - whenever it looked like Stan was getting into a groove. hit some good FHs as well.

Federer returned 90% of Stan’s first serves. That is remarkable and is a great sign moving forward. And Fed served like a boss.

With his improved plan lately, Federer might actually be better than the average 37 year old on tour.

Congrats to Fed for a great match.
Is that a metaphoric way of talking or literal? Did Federer really return 90% of Wawrinka's first serves or is it just a hyperbolic exaggeration? I would appreciate a link to those stats, if possible.

I watched the match. Fed hardly made a mistake. Was hitting the ball hard although within himself. Stan was making some errors although it was because Federer wasn't making any.

There was one rally that was pretty ridiculous.

I was quoting the announcer, who was using hyperbole. My bad. It’s impossible to return that many balls. I took his statement literally and I shouldn’t have.

I'm sure there have been occasions when 90% of first serves have been put into play by a player, possibly by Federer himself in one of his more dominant performances. This is not a regular stat you see listed at match stats but something you might find for matches at a website like tennisabstract.

I'm not surprised. He was ridiculously at blocking the 1st serve yesterday (not even slicing), but missed a few when trying to go for a big return on the 2nd serve.
Yes ofcourse...
If he can just get rid off that breakpoint-waste-erer inside him, even at this age, his results will get even more boost
