Murray is going to win in 4.

Also take notice of the timing of Nadals injury claims tomorrow. Its not a matter of if but when. Guranteed.

The players and media are so sick of Rafas bs.

He won't take a time-out tomorrow. The London crowd likes him, but I'm sure they'll turn against him if they feel he's up to shady things. Murray makes them crazy and I wouldn't be surprised if they turned hostile.

What? Nadal has taken MTO ALREADY in the tournament. And the majority of the crowd will be pulling for MURRAY.

Anyone else agree?

I have the impression that the British crowd likes Nadal quite a lot, the majority of the crowd will be for Muzza of course but I doubt they're gonna be hostile to Nadal or anything like that(they're gonna applaud his great shots).

I wonder what (if any) psychological impact the first SF's result will have in this match?

I do feel that Rafael will play even better if JWT wins the first SF (however unlikely that is).

If the Djoker wins (expected outcome), Nadal may be a little tight, I'm guessing.

So since NBC will apparently have the right to this match, and they didn't stream the women semifinals today, how does one watch this match on the West Coast? :(

ESPN quote:
Andy Murray is in danger of being short of 100% fitness for his Wimbledon semi-final showdown with Rafael Nadal, having picked up a hip problem.

Following his straight-sets dismissal of Feliciano Lopez in the quarters on Wednesday, Murray revealed that he will be undergoing treatment on the problem area.

Nadal has already had to deal with injury concerns, picking up a foot complaint in his fourth-round match with Juan Martin del Potro. MRI scans showed no serious issue, and Nadal's movement did not look inhibited during his last-eight win over Mardy Fish.

"I'm a little bit sore at the top of my hip, but I'm still moving OK," Murray said. "I'll have a better idea of how it is in the morning [on Thursday]."

It sounds like Murray's injury could be more disabilitating than Nadals.
Thought Murray was looking in great form. Shame if this spoils what could have been a fantastic match.
Any news on the Murray Hip Flexor situation?
iliopsoas-bursa.jpg

No news as far as I'm aware, but I imagine he'll take some anti-inflammatories and maybe some painkillers and be OK. This looked less serious than that ankle injury during RG, and he managed to push through that fine.

As a Nadal fan I was lucky enough to be at this match 12 months ago and as has been mentioned although it was straight sets it felt a hell of a lot closer!

I am expecting a tight match Murray has been solid and has the crowd support!

But what fills me with confidence is when I look at their last 2 Semi Finals in majors, close as they have been Rafa has still won in straight sets by virtue of winning the big points!

So from Murray's point of view this makes the task of having to win 3 sets against Rafa a VERY daunting one, not impossible but very tough!

I think Murray will win a set and if its the first it will be a tight match but either way I think Rafa will be just too strong on the big points and win in 4 sets

Ark, it's funny, because what makes you see this as an especially daunting task for Murray is what makes me see it as a matter of only a slight adjustment... something that could be accomplished quietly and quickly, without anyone noticing until it's too late. When it's only the big points that make the difference, the outcome of the match stands on the edge of a knife. When one learns to hold his ground in those moments and apply pressure, to grab his chances rather than thinking about the worst case scenario, suddenly the match could tip entirely in an unexpected direction.

Will that adjustment happen here, or ever? Who knows.

46 votes Nadal. 29 votes Murray. It's just a matter of how many sets it will take for Nadal to win. We know the polls are always accurate here.

My heart says Nadal in straight sets, but my head says Rafa in three, so I am voting Nadal in 4 sets just to show respect and please the crown.

The surface is key IMO. In slams on clay and grass, Nadal leads 9 sets to 0. I expect this to be 12 sets to 0 after tomorrow.

Most matches between top players do come down to big points, that's nothing new, I doubt either of these guys is gonna blow away the other one.

Where I see Murray's chance is his 1st serve and his ROS, if he serves out of his skin(say 65+% 1st serves in)and returns the majority of Nadal's serves(which as good as Nadal's serve is at the moment is certainly possible for Muzza given his terrific ROS) that will put tremendous amount of pressure on Nadal.

However if he gives Nadal too many looks at his 2nd serve then I'm afraid Muzza is toast.

Just no. Those 'big points' are the difference between a champion and a loser. A match could all boil down to ONE break point or something - and the person who played it well is a champion - the person who choked it away is a LOSER. If the loser wins many more overall points than the winner - the loser is still nowhere close to the tennis playing level of the winner.

Although on the surface it looks like a mere one point, the truth is that the mental strength required to play that point well (Nadal) vs. choking it (Murray) is literally a UNIVERSE apart. Give Nadal a point like that, Nadal wins it 10 times out of 10, Murray 0 times out of 10.

That's something you're born with (ability to play big points well). You can't acquire it no matter how much training you have. That's why Murray will ALWAYS lose to Nadal in a slam.

Interestingly Murray served at 73% in the first set vs Nadal in 2010 (that must be pretty close to his maximum potential considering his average %) and lost 6-4. Maybe he just had one bad game and paid for it, can't remember. Then he served at 66% in the 2nd and lost in a TB.
He seemed to have trouble returning Nadals serve quite a few times, seemed to miss returns more than usual. Andy was only 1/3 on bp for the match. Nadal was 3/4.

Andy has improved a lot since last year.

My guess would be Rafa in 4 with the scorelines something like 76(6) 36 64 64.

I'm with you all the way until you say you can't acquire it, also you're insulting to murray saying he'd never win a big point, he's done it before, just not to win a slam. Also, Murray has beaten Nadal what twice in slams?

Patrick McEnroe and Brad Gilbert picked Murray to win (even after breaking down the match and making Nadal the favorite in every department). wtf

How many times do you need to be told that Murray has ALREADY beaten Nadal in TWO Slams!!!

Can't you try and get at least one or two facts right amidst all the rubbish you insist on posting???

Well, with Djokovic through to the final, and Murray through to the final, they may as well just hand the trophy over to Djokovic now since Murray does jack all in slam finals. Even if Nadal made the final(he won't),he would get smoked by Djokovic anyway. Novak no good on grass? Bs.

Yes. I watch tennis. Do you watch tennis? Murray has played much better at Wimbledon this year than Rafa has. How do you come to the conclusion that Rafa would beat Murray today given the way the two of them have been playing? Murray will win easily today.

Oh how I would love to see Murray beat Nadal to see some select Nadal fans shut up.

And Batz would finally get his dream.

Will Muzza crack from the pressure or will he rise to the occasion

He will be fine. Andy has been playing great tennis lately, and should win this one easily. Nadal has not played that great,so he won't come anywhere near winning this one.

Will ESPN2 be showing the match live on the west coast?

Per ESPN website:
Wimbledon Update - Due to rights, the Rafael Nadal-Andy Murray match will not be live on ESPN2 or ESPN3.com. The replay will be available after 8pm ET.

So us on the West Coast are pretty much screwed? Again, I hate NBC.
