Yes, I have watched the match. Stan took extra day off and maybe he wasn't as sharp, but he was rock solid. He'll trouble any of Djokovic/Murray. His game also suits well to slow surface and probably more well suited to FO than those of Djokovic's or Murray's. I think he is in with a good chance.

Maybe you're genuine, but it was a low quality match to be honest.

Stan won't be able to afford coughing up 17 BPs in the final, no matter who he plays.

Just thought that it has been so good that Wawrinka has suddenly been doing all these great things. His talent could have been wasted altogether, but he somehow managed to make a surge at relatively late stage of the career and has been a real dark horse for the past 2-3 years. What a waste it would have been had he not realized his potential.

Yup, Norman should be given a lot of credit. Stan has also worked hard to get this far. If he was in late 90s, I'm sure he would've achieved as much as those temporary no. 1s of the time. The shadow of big 4 have been too big to the others.

Hopefully, Stan has earned more of your respect back. If Novak reaches the final, don't underestimate Stanimal.

Nah I like Stan. He is a entertaining player to watch, have nothing against him but me thinks for andy and novak it is a dreamfinal, especially for Novak.

kudos to stan. the match was no classic, but he came through it.

two things:

#1. i've been on the road for this entire tournament and i can't say how horrible/pathetic/non-existent the coverage has been in the states. sad.

#2. i barely liked a handful of tennis kits worn by the pros for the last 10 years, but stan's outfit is hilarious. his shirt is channeling 1975, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. i like retro, though red and grey wouldn't be my first choice. and his shorts are channeling a slumber party, which also isn't a bad thing by itself. the shirt and shorts together, however . . . not so good. i will say that one of the things i like most about stan is that he always looks like he's just rolled out of bed and onto the court, with absolutely no thought given to his appearance. i like that.

Yeah Stan the man did great really. He didn't play amazing, served terribly but toughed it out against the crowd in the heat. Most would have lost that like nishikori.

yeah, he fought his inner demons, if he can go with those shorts, he is more than ready to face the crowd....:)

Our top four favorites are the same, just the order is different

For me it's

2) Juan Martin del Potro

3) Stanislas Wawrinka

4) Jo-Wilfred Tsonga

I don't know whom to support. Stan has a slam, Tsonga doesn't. Still when Stanimal is in beast mode, it's a joy to watch. I would go for Stan.

I will not be disappointed at all if Tsonga makes it to the final

Hahaha I feel like our top four isn't all too unique amongst other Federer fans. Still, you've got great taste ;)

I really wanted to see Jo energized in a slam final on home soil. It would've been a special sight had he won. Still, I'm very happy for Stan and am glad he made it. To be completely honest, if Djokovic wins and had Tsonga won, I almost have no doubt that Novak would win the final. Now, regardless of who the other finalist is, I'm glad the match will really have an air of uncertainty.

Jo has his chances, sigh.

Love Stan too, 2nd grand slam final. Just wow.

I think most Federer fans like these guys. I think we love AGGRESSIVE tennis. They are my favourites as well, throw in Dimi.

Wow, now that was one craptastic match!
I think it's fair to blame it at least partly on the weather, 3 hours and 46 minutes of playing tennis in above-30 degree temperatures aren't actually fun. Both of the guys looked like they were melting out there!

Very happy with the result of course. Kudos to Stan, saving 16 BPs. Came up with the goods every time he found himself into trouble.
Norman really did an awesome job with learning him to keep his cool - pun intended. ;)

Too bad, Tsonga. Back to the drawing board. Close-but-no-cigar.

And what's that with actually whistleing and booing the victor because he wasn't the preferred Frenchie??? Totally uncalled for, hooligan-like behaviour.
The chimps responsible for that should be ashamed of themselves!

He was always extremely talented, probably one of the best ballstrikers on the tour for awhile. Even when he was a top 30 ranked player he was routinely beating great ballstrikers like Nalbandian.

Great post.

Sign of a champion to win without his best.

Tsonga helped the cause. He should be happy Monfils and Fognini are on Tour so he doesn't win Clown of the Year all the time. His goofy shot selection was pathetic.

French crowd - you s*ck.
