In defense of the nextgen guys, they do have to pay attention to instagram, and their whole social media profile, and play lots of video games, and generally be gentlemanly raconteurs and renaissance men, rather than perfectionist tennis players.

In my mind they already have. But 5 years when the big 3 are gone (at this rate they may playin into their late 40's), guys like Tsits are supposed to be the future. That to me, is sad.
Only part of your mind have but other part haven't lost hope ;)
Tennis will be good, when big 3 go, few players will mostly divide slams, there will be rivalries, we will get used to them... Off course, atp can have wta destiny, but I don't think it will happen...

Anyway, you are good poster, nice Fed fan, and I am always sad to read stuff like this from your side... It's something one would expect from People's Champ or tennisaddict... Please don't spoil yourself... ;)

If Tsits was the guy you banked on to beat Djoko, you picked the wrong horse. That would have been 6-3 6-4 6-4 and out. Looking at his match last night and Djokovic's yesterday was night and day, and Djokovic was just a level above. You should put all your eggs in on Thiem or Medvedev on the opposite side as far I'm concerned. They have the best shot. Maybe Zverev, if he's firing on all cylinders and serving 80% like he was at the AO.

Correct on what would happen to Tsitsipas

But nothing will happen if Zverev serves 80%. On a BO5, Djokovic will beat him like a drum , with the kind of form both have shown. Zverev Is dropping sets to some 17 year old teenager and Mannarino.

Truth is truth.

But hey, if djoker is the only guy that can play a high level, I will root for him because I want to see good tennis. I never thought I would run out of good tennis players to root for.

But hey, maybe Djoker is just so good and consistent even at his age that everyone else just looks bad in comparison.

Good for Djoker fans... not so good for guys like me. :X3:

Two next gens played and a next gen won.:unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure:

Power of positive thinking !!

I think to keep ourselves entertained basically support every player we can and ultimately a couple will show up in the later rounds

If you bank on just the players in top 10, one ends in disappointment

Federer won Slams in WEAK ERA.

That is debatable. But surely, the slams that Djokovic is winning NOW is in a "WEAKER" era compared to Federer's.

How can you compare the next gen to the players in the past? Every one of those players (Roddick, Hewitt, Safin, Nalbandian etc etc) are 10x greater than jokers such as Tsitsipas, Zverev, Kygrios, Thiem etc.

It’s not worth arguing with him when it concerns Fed. Sorry, Yugram.

I'm quite happy happy any tennis right now personally....

It's like when you've been hungry for so long, you don't really become too picky when you finally get to the table, you just want to eat. After the longest period I have been in my whole life without live tennis of any sort, I am happy to watch a slam being played out. There have been some interesting five setters that I have watched.

It's much easier for Djokovic fans though. I also didn't watch tennis for long time, and I'm still not watching this slam.

Maybe, but I'm actually watching a lot of everything right now, not really that focused on Djokovic. I think Novak has only been in like 5% of the matches I have seen since Cincy started.

Tennis is so boring without any fans. I mean on all those great points, there is no cheering and the whole atmosphere is like dead. The Ooohs and Aahs from the crowd and all the player reactions are such an IMPORTANT part of tennis.

Everything seems muted now. Someone hits a great shot or has an amazing get - DEAD silence. 40 shot rally - DEAD silence.

I mean this is better than NO tennis for sure. But it really seems flat. It's like being a gladiator in an empty arena.

I'll be honest with you, if I had a choice of fans or no fans, I would choose fans, but I actually don't mind the matches being played without any fans....since I know it is only short term, I don't mind it as such. It's not something that will be around, very unique experience, and that alone makes it alluring to me...the novelty of it. I am sure it will wear off soon, but for now, I don't mind personally.

Тут все таки игроки по разному играют. Некоторые показывают скучную игру.

One thing 2020 has shown is, is there's absolutely no way Djokovic isn't passing Fed.
Tbh both Nadal and Djokovic are passing Fed, I would be baffled if one of them does not at this point. Fed is gonna officially be a middle aged man in 11 months and Djokodal don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

I did not expect to see his game so brutally exposed and clearly the tour has worked him out. Coric is an average player at best.
How was it "brutally" exposed? Coric didn't double bagel him. It was a tough match. Also, on a good day, Coric is up there in potential with other hyped next gens.

I think it's a breath a fresh air without the boisterous and often annoying USO crowd. It's peaceful for a change. No complaints from me lol

I personally prefer watching tennis on TV without fans. Players are more focused and there are no ohhs, ahhs, outs etc. sounds from the crowd. Also, I can assess players’ techniques better without crowd. I have to say that I am impressed with improvements in Djokovic's technique. Coric-Tsitsipas was a great match and both played very well. Pity that Nadal and Federer are not there, it would be fun. I just heard Mark Petchey saying how great young players are and how level of play is incredible high.

I can only assume you did not watch the whole match. Please if you get chance watch a re-run. Tsitsipas has no BH at all. His return of serve is awful. Players will now just plug away at that BH until it collapses. Also his 2nd serve is poor. Far too many holes in his game. He was arguably better 3 years ago.

Well, I certainly would have been interested to see how Federer and Nadal would have responded to playing without fans.

I think Tsitsipas would be a top 10 player back then as he is today, or fight his way into it. But I disagree that he would go unbeaten and take everyone out like he is saying. We are not talking about 70 or 80s equipment and how lesser the game was back then compared to now. 05 tennis and onwards is still very similar to today. Maybe the equipment today and tactics has slightly improved, but that's it.
Honestly, I feel tennis has been really similar since 2000.

Even if Tsitsipas had won, he still struggled with Walmart Djoker.

But that should teach some people to stop blaming their failures on the 3 GOATS. :p

I question if they will play until stadiums are full. Their egos are bigger i think than Novaks. I have heard a few journalists say Nadal and Federer are aware of their worth.

Well, they are the two darlings of the tour, so probably for them, it would feel more stranger not having the roar of the crowd pushing them on.

Watch Nadal last year in US Open final in 5th set near the start when crowd booed him. It gave him a 2nd wind and he got super pumped. I cannot see who he would be fist pumping in this environment and he would be flat. Federer would hate it. He loves the adulation not just in the stadium but around the grounds as he walks on air. I think Federer has already mentioned something about coming back in front of fans.

Is any other Nole fan now worried that Djokovic might lose now?

Like gee, all the wailing about Novak crushing the competition and being a total lock for this slam is getting me a bit nervous.

Love the aggression and shot making from Shapovalov. Wish he could keep it going for 5 sets. CB was just kept going at him and was patient to eek out the win.

Serve was great. Groundies are heavy and at times he was able to maintain that level. Hopefully he can lower the error rate without sacraficing the pace.

His error rate will always be high, but he showed much improvement and his net game is miles better. Good to see from him.

Dear Gary, thank you for your comments.

In my opinion, Djokovic is dramatically improving; he never served better, sliced better, volleyed better, hitting overheads better; hitting forehand better. There is added layer of Federer's game in his game now; he looks like a next stage in game evolution. However, other players are doing the same thing as well. Thiem, Tsitsipas, RBA and other have attained incredible heights, and, for me, when I look their technique they are miles ahead of previous generations. This is also the reason why Djokovic have problems when playing with them (RBA, Thiem etc.; with current level he would annihilate previous fields). It is my honest opinion that the best Wimbledon version of Federer is the one in 2019. People say Djokovic played poorly, I say Federer made him to look like that.

Best wishes

You don’t half write a load of nonsense.
