I'm amazed that Cilic could barely hold serve. I know his serve used to be quite shaky but he improved it somewhat over the last couple of years so that it became at least a quite good serve (with the help of Goran). It was nothing today for Djokovic, though.

As I said earlier in the thread, I just don't think Djokovic has ever really struggled with that type of serve too much though. Cilic places it well but kind of lacks elite pace and placement.

Pretty much what internet anonymity does to people. Wanna think it's a persona they made, but I can't be sure.

He got paid a lot of money so that we and every other tennis fan could be entertained. Turns out we had to make our own entertainment. Lighten up he'll live.

Novak being very gracious in victory kind remarks about Cilic's injury.

Did Cilic bet against himself? Any worse play and one would think he's throwing this thing. I do wonder if that ankle is worse than thought.

4 aces, 5 DFs, 45% first serves in, 60 % first serves won, 22 % second serves, 11 winners (more than Gasquet ) and 37 UEs . That ladies and gentlemen was your big serving, hard hitting, aggressive, defending US Open champion.

This is embarrassing for the atp. Really it is.

They have no one to blame but themselves. Cilic would have made this a more interesting match had the ATP not slowed down the court speed to clay standards. It still would have been a deserved beatdown, but not this bad.

OMG I'm so happy.:) Novak becomes only the 3rd player in the Open era to reach all 4 slam finals in a season, equals Sampras with 18 major finals and makes his 11th successive final of the year, the same as Federer did in 2006. Come on haters, you might not like him but you've gotta respect that level of consistency.

I actually don't think Cilic played that badly, Novak was on a mission today.

Obviously it's still too early, but unless Fed/Stan brings his A+ game in the final I don't see Djoko losing this one. Before anyone chimes in with a recap of this year's FO final let me add Djoko has looked clearly sharper at this tournament. Looks like he's peaking at the right time, which means he's learned his lesson.

Not saying Novak is playing bad, coz he isn't making any mistakes. But with the crappy quality of Cilic's play anyone who can return the ball would be leading Cilic right now.
i said it Noles hacking abilities frustate any aggressor esp Cilic, it will always be bad match up for ever for Cheatlic
Fed is dead and Stan will be Flan for the finals.
award the trophy now to nole

Alright settle down Djokovic2011. We're all aware of Novak's consistency but you don't need to rub it in. Go outside and get drunk or something.

I will continue to fight Djokovic's corner (as a disgruntled Federer fan who is COMPLETELY F****** PISSED OFF at what Djokovic has done to Federer for the last three years -- the punk, sod him).

Great great achievement from Novak...

Viva Peru.

oh come on cilic was sh*t ...

winning only 3 games with that serve ?

novak was playing nearly as well in the QF at wimbledon, but cilic made it respectable there ....
