Andreas Seppi who was a top 15 player can be sneaky and seems like a guy that Nick Kyrios with his flashy power game and hard serve could just take out in 1 and 2 in sets. But Seppi has a lot of heart, pride and a solid groundstrokes game. In end, Seppi got some of his game and pride back; this veteran tour player still has game!

Verdasco the fiasco strikes again............. Where was that big time hitting GOAT that showed up in last year's aussie open 1st round and beat down RAFA ????????????? Where was he ?

Hard to say. Evidently he was not comfortable playing Djokovic

Cheers

As I suspected, the Doha semi-final is no doubt still in his head. It will probably take him a while to get over that before he feels ready to face Djokovic again!

GSM Andy Murray 6-3 6-0 6-2

Important to get through the match quickly after that ankle roll. Hopefully it is nothing serious and i hope he addresses it in the interview, im curious to know how he feels about it since he's been wiggling it and grimacing ever since he fell over.

He seems to have a slight weakness in his ankles, hence the constant wearing of ankle braces. We'll know by tomorrow if there are any bad after-effects. Hopefully not!

2017:
A 17 year old playing his first ever ATP qualies in Brisbane ranked 351st in the world scoring huge wins over top 100 Kukushkin and top 120 Tiafoe is ****ing amazing.

Defeating a top 50 player and former top 20 player Benoit Paire in Sydney (the following week) in 3 sets in just his 2nd ATP main draw match is ****ing amazing.

Defeating Melzer, someone ranked 200 spots higher then you and inside the top 100 in a 5 set marathon at the Aus Open aged 17 is pretty ****ing amazing.

Then in your next match getting set point against a top 30 player in Querrey who defeated Djokovic last year is also pretty ****ing amazing. His next 2 sets dropped off of course but his past few weeks have been amazing.

So yeah I say he's a top prospect. Wouldn't you?:rolleyes::rolleyes: Pathetic. All that in 3 weeks while in year 12? Yeah amazing
I'll just tag @SQA333 as he liked your post.
I think DiMinaur is a very solid prospect. The sum of his game is more than the parts. He's shown himself to be a fighter and a winner. And I don't detect any 'headcase' in him. Unfortunately I feel his technique and serve will really hold him back. But he's young and can improve it.

The Paire match doesn't prove anything bc that guy is a freakin joke, who barely shows up half the time.
I was very impressed with his comeback vs Melzer though. 1st slam match, 1st 5 setter. I believe he came back from 2-5 in the 4th set down 2-1 in sets. Super tough!

Anyway had to go to bed, but what a lame loss for Kyrgios.
I genuinely like Seppi, but he didn't do anything in 2016. Maybe had some extra motivation for redemption in this match!

Judging by the 6-3 6-0 6-2 scoreline that was a good win for Murray and exactly how he should be winning these early round matches as the #1 ranked player.

Kyrios losing early doesn't surprise me but a good win, perhaps, by Evans over Cilic.

Well that's what happens when Sir Andy asks for a point to be replayed! ;)
Lol, the Eurosport commentators were funny
Chris B after Andy insisted they reply the point."well that's what happens when you become a Knight"
To which Mac replyed "no that what happens when you are 64 60 and two breaks up" and then muttered "call me a cynic"
;):)

could be a very hard game for nadal when baghdatis is on fire....but i hope rafa is back on track!!!

also would be interessting if zverew will struggle again and fognini should win over paire. i want him on a big stage where he is on the non brain fognini hard hitting modus.
then he could beat neraly everyone...

I agree, he was also hitting his shots a lot harder i noticed. Almost like he was trying to end the points early. It might just be one of those things that looks worse than it is tho, he did play a couple of points afterwards that would simply not be possible on adrenaline only if it was a serious. But yeah he needs to make sure he's fully prepared for Querrey coz that is deff going to be a lot more tougher than what he faced today.

Still, he'll have a handful of experts looking after him today and tomorrow so i'm sure he'll be fine.

It's obviously not horribly serious, but he'll be pleased that he had less than a set to play on it, in order to avoid aggravating it. He's lucky his young opponent didn't think to test it, but then he probably knew that Murray was winning anyway and messing with tactics could easily back-fire. Murray seemed to think it wasn't that serious in the after-match interviews, but then he would say that. Then again, I think Murray's initial reaction probably was shock, and flash-backs to previous ankle problems, and like most tennis players, they are wary that they could make it worse if they aren't careful. Better to take some time before getting up, and pausing for a bit of a scowl, than launching back into the match.

We'll get a much better idea by what he does during practice tomorrow.

Anton Chigureshs is not one who demands a coin flip...he demands you flip a Pringles potato chip.
"And if the Pringle breaks when it falls to the ground, then how can I go against that. You understand me, the chip, it's this fragile thing, like you, sitting in that chair, trembling, but you shouldn't tremble; some of us are chip flippers, some of us are chips and we have to accept that, you see. I have to accept that the chip must break, it's hard for me, too, believe me, you are so fragile and I don't want to do this but I must, as must all chip flippers."

Anton Chigureshs will be back to terrorize all my readers after Slaminal's fourth slam run is completed.

The letdown from Dutra Silva in this game, as he struggles to outlast Simon from the baseline. 3 BPs.

Forehand into the net, and Simon breaks for 4-3.

Careno Busta beats Kyle Edmund 6-2 6-4 6-2 and looked really good in doing so. Possible danger for Novak? Probably not, but if Novak is not playing well, he could be in trouble.

Holy crap! Chung is showing a seeded player who's boss! 1-4, Chung, 1st set!

EDIT: This was a bit early. I take it back. I got excited. :(

EDIT 2: There we go. That was nearly bad for Chung. Chung indeed leads 4-1!

Simon takes the 1st set 6/4. Simon having one of those days, where his transition game is quite good, and his volleys are executed well.
