I'm still shocked. Have never seen Fed play this badly ever before. Even if he's not performing well, he at least will try to put up a fight or get one break, but none of that happened today. Hopefully Fed's not injured.

So what do we have? A Federer who can't get a first serve in and can't keep his BH in the court. Just like it's been all week, except this giant is a superior player to anyone else Roger has played this tourney.
yes.. Fed has had long run since start of W without facing a good in form opponent. Eventually his luck ran out.

Congrats A. Zverev on 2nd masters victory and at an age of 20
Couldn't watch the match as it was way past midnight but isn't shocked with the result considering Zverev had been playing extremely well for the last 2 weeks. To me, he is very much among the favourites for USO alongside Fed and Nadal.

Which version of Memento? I've been dying to watch this flick, but really want to watch the original non-American version first, before watching the American one.
What non-American version? The 2000 American film is the original, based on an original idea by Jonathan Nolan.

Fed was so bad... seems like some injury, or plain low energy or bad mood.
Zverev was excellent regardless. didn't leave him an option. closed down with precision and thought.
very nice.

From Fed's press conference:

Q. Can you tell us how you felt physically today, even from the moment that you warmed up before the match, and during the match. What is the plan for the next few days?
ROGER FEDERER: I'll travel to Cincinnati tonight, then take a decision in the next couple of days and see how I feel after five days of playing, if I'm ready to play in Cincy next week or not.

You know, felt all right all week. Had a bit of muscle pain, aches and pains here and there, just because it's back on the match courts, on the hard courts. After vacation and practice, it's always a bit of a shock for the body.

We'll have to wait and see now how I feel in the next couple of days.

---

Also mentions a few times that he needs to make sure he's 100% for the US Open. Sounds to me as though he won't be playing Cincy.

Let's be realistic, Fed looked stiff and resigned to losing. Rafa lost because he played a bad match, but Fed is definitely not 100% physically.

"Something minor happened," Federer described in the second set. "The back is a little stiff," he said. After the incident, things weren't the same. "I have to see whether I play Cincy, I don't know if it's enough time."

For goodness sake! Fed should pull out of Cincy and give some LL a chance. Is he just being greedy?
Am I right in thinking that he will be replaced by a lucky loser as long as he withdraws by Wednesday, and that that lucky loser will also get his first round bye?

Yes. Tipsarevic is a LL and has a bye in the first round. Can't see the logic, but that's how it is. Some seeds don't even have a bye.

yeah, i hope he does. i assume its just a back spasm or something b/c fed, in his swiss interview, said it was minor, and the back was stiff which would make a lot of sense, so maybe just a few days of rest is all he needs, but i'd rather he not risk aggravating it. he has plenty of cincy titles and either way if he damages it there, USO and ye.no.1 are gone and ofc more importantly his health. granted he's had back issues his entire career and knows how to manage it.

Out of all Lynch movies, I do like Mulholland Dr. the most. It's far too mysterious for me to decode though I think I've done a decent job. Lost Highway is also very good. Lynch is our modern day Hitchcock. Btw, I like Patricia Arquette a great deal as an actor. She's done a TV show called Medium (loosely based on true story) that I thought was quite good. I also like Naomi Watts. I recently finished watching her Netflix original Gypsy - a psychological thriller but unfortunately, they've pulled the plug and it's not coming back for a second season.

I think as far as mystery/psychological thrillers are concerned Memento is quite up there with Mulholland Dr. along with Fight Club. I also enjoyed Following a great deal - a little gem not too many people know about.

I don't know if you are into sci-fi but my personal favourits are 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris (Russian version) and Contact. And perhaps in that order.

Sorry I've gone off topic here.
Think Ive seen everything Patricia been in, including Medium. Now I have had a Brit Marling thing. Started w the movie Another Earth which she co produced, Another Earth is fantastic, most stuff she is in has been great. Kubric I think is overrated, Only liked Eyes Wide Shut. Lynch- I just love his taste really and its fascinating.
I watch a lot of European movies, Spanish, Italian, Scandi...Thats where you find some real movie work. But I do like American stupid comedies too a lot. I like Tilda Swindon- watch: only lovers left alive.. Its great. I like Idris Alba a lot too and just watch everything he is in. Its a british cop tv-serie called Luther, but so scary dont watch it alone ;) I watched the Asian new scifi movie w Scarlett Johansson on the plain, it was great!! I love Japanese cartoons, Anime a lot. I love Japan and Asian stuff. Love a lot of things Lol

He is even a Fed fan. Its very I go well w them. I have 15 fed fans on ignore, no other fan groups on ignore:oops:.

LOL at this. Maybe you dont have any of those pestering Nadal fans in ignore because, oh right, you are a Nadal fan?
i am not sure what would be the case with Djokovic fans, they are a few who are as annoying as some ridiculous Fed fans here.
You are absolutely biased according to your comments, and I dont have a single issue with that as we more or less are biased towards our favourites, but please... stating that all the people in your ignore list are Fed fans is hilarious.
Enjoy the forum as it is, and dont try to preach to the people to ignore members, it sounds a bit silly. In a related note, I have a few people in ignore but not because I dont like their opinions but mostly because they are boring as hell, and that has nothing to do with the fanbase they belong. Have a good day

I am considering to put a Novak fan on ignore too now, a nasty one ;)
You preaching about respecting other peoples opinions, well then you should respect my choices too ;)
I do find the most insulting posters here being Federer fans and im avoiding that w ignoring them. Its nice and a good option. Its only 2 posters I have on ignore because they are boring fanboys creating gossip threads.

So now they are 2, instead the 15 you mentioned? LMAO, ok

You are aware of the difference between respecting opinions and encouraging people to ignore members right? Or this is kind trolling effort in a sarcastic way? I want to be sure of this since I expect absolutely everything in this forum, I would not be surprised at all

I saw Another Earth last year on Netflix. I like Brit Marling. I mentioned some movies to Richard not so long ago and The East was one of them where Brit Marling played the lead role. It's actually quite good if you want to check it out. I just recently finished watching The OA which I thought was a bit far fetched, but still good. Like Patricia, she has the tendency to go for unusual roles which I really like. I've seen a few of Tilda's as well. As to Idris Alba, I think I have seen only Prometheus and No Good Deed. I do enjoy comedies a great deal too but I probably prefer Hangover, Horrible Bosses over Dumb & Dumber even though I really dig Jim Carrey.

I am very used to watching horror flicks alone; in fact I enjoy it much more when I watch alone. I am a bit fearless! but wasn't always like that. I used to get scared very easily and it would bug me to no end, so that's when I decided to overcome all my fear and I have I can proudly say. Though I wouldn't want to put myself in certain situations but I tend to feel that I have the intelligence to get out of a scary or tricky situation. I have gone through a lot of dream simulations for that but that entirely a different subject! Thanks for mentioning Luther - I am sure I will check it out. :)

I do watch a lot of European, Spanish (Talk to Me was so good!) and Japanese movies and sometimes, I watch some very well made Indian movies. I haven't seen Ghost in the Shell yet but I'd probably prefer to watch the Japanese one over it. I am not into animation all that much, I am afraid! I like the real stuff and that's part of the reason why I don't read novels anymore. I'd rather read a book on quantum physics (and other matters that are of interest) or books that are based on real life experiences.

Another long post by moi and rather off topic! I'll stop I promise. :p

Its so few of them and they dont attack me, so.no.need for ignore. I have Bartelby on ignore because it was too much w the sharapova defending stuff. But not sure who he is a fan of. Im a proud ignorerer ;)
Whats the big deal?

Zara, yes, the East was exceptional. Great taste you have.

So much uncertainty in men's tennis again. I like it. Excited for the real slam and of course, for the USOpen.

Hoping for great tennis from Roger, Sascha, Rafa, et al.

We have our own reasons for ignoring. I have been attacked pretty bad and threads been deleted because of. I dont want to be insulted and attacked in a personal way. That you dont respect that is strange, but its not your problem really. I dont get why is so important for you to "teach me" about what I should accept or not. Its my boundaries, not yours.

Didn't think Zverev would have it in him. M1000s is a start I guess considering he has already won more than Dimitrov, Raonic and Nishikori, lmao.

Even without Roger getting injured, as long as ATP doesn't protect him and Rafa anymore (no point this week, as one will be #1 anyhow), the younger guns have it in them (in terms of shot making, speed and even mental toughness).

You think Allison DuBois' claims are fake and that's fine with me. I tend to think otherwise.
It's not a matter of opinion. It has been well documented that her claims of having helped law enforcement are false.

I don't mean they are false because there is no such thing as a "medium". I mean that in every single case, the law enforcement officers involved have stated unequivocally that she contributed nothing meaningful to the case. So even if you choose to believe that there is such a thing as a medium, you ought to concede that her stories are fake.

(Of course, there is NO SUCH THING as a "medium", it is all cold reading and similar techniques. But I'm not foolish enough to think that I could convince you otherwise. The evidence is out there anyway, for anyone with an open mind.)

Hey gogo, I don't think Memento has any other version - it is the one and only. It was directed by Christopher Nolan (another favourite along with Lynch) and Guy Pierce was in the lead. I was in Atlanta and went to see it in the theatre with some college friends as soon as it came out and we went for the last show. It was my choice of movie even though I had no idea what the plot was all about as I try not to find out, so it was huge surprise. My friends however all fell asleep one by one and till this day, they tease me because they hated it. I really loved it and was hooked right awat. I think it was the 2nd or 3rd viewing when I was able to figure it out that the movie was shot both in colour and black and white, while one was going forward, the other one was going backward. I've seen it a few times since then on - one of all time favourites!

The Matrix came out several months before Memento and I remember that too we watched together in the threatre and they loved it and thanked me later for picking this movie for them! So they trusted me with Memento too but little did they know. :p

Her stories may as well be fake (because some are fake but not all) as I haven't done much research on that and frankly it doesn't matter because the series was pretty good, but yes, I do believe in mediumship. I have my own experience and that's good enough for me. Open mind doesn't mean being skeptic or debunking something you choose not to believe; it's quite the opposite.

Personally I don't like to exchange or hang out with fundamentalists and hard core materialists. They bore me.

Trust me, I didn't have the taste at first. I watched a lot of junk early on to finally sort out what I really liked or what I found most interesting. I think it's essential to go through that in order to have a more specific individual taste and to grow of course.

USO does look uncertain as it typically does with a lot of players being injured etc. during this time of year. I don't feel Sascha is ready for the slam yet. As I've mentioned before on some other thread yesterday that he's just doing the ground work this year. With Federer being slightly doubtful physically, Nadal's stock has gone up but the draw will be crucial for him. Any big hitter or big server on the way and he'll be in world of trouble. I am still holding out hope for Andy and expecting him to play. Winning is another matter, of course. But we may see some surprises especially during the first week or even second week.

Look, i barely remember it, but just wanted to say I used to be a medium. This was in the first two years of high school. Then i grew, and filled out to a Large. Went up three shoes sizes, too, from a Nine and a half to a twelve, by senior year.

Sorry. I was getting it mixed up with the Norwegian film Insomnia. I believe Robin Williams was in the American remake.

Both Insomnia and Memento are on my current to-watch list.

Thanks for the background on Memento. It only makes me want to watch it more.

I will bring this back to tennis, and maybe offer a bit of perspective on RF/Sascha.
Ok....where were we? Ah yes,
Interview With The Vampire.....
The Vampire LeStat looked just like Gaston Gaudío.
Gaston Gaudio suffered a double bagel loss to RF in Houston at the ATP Masters year end Championships.
At that time (2005), Sascha Zverev was playing 14u tournaments.

This Vampire movie is much smarter I think ;) Not like a US blockbuster thing. But clever. Nothing beats Tilda anyways ;) Wish Ill hold up like her when i get to 50. And she is Scottish like Andy.

She's Scottish!? Ha, cool. I always just assumed Tilda Swinton would be from Swindon.
Kidding.
Cannot believe she is fifty-six.
Just a year or so younger than Mac. Well older than Cashy, Wilander, Boris and Edberg.
Same age as Yannick Noah, Bono, Michael Stipe, Ivan Lendl, and Andres Gomez
