Congratulations to Novak! You know he’s playing well when he didn’t miss a single smash. 14 and counting! #3 and with good chances to get #1! Amazing turnaround after the French Open.

Poor Juan, I really feel for him. Not much he could do against this Novak. His forehand let him down too often during the match. He will have other chances. Really nice to see a genuine friendship between him and Novak.

May we all have a great end of season, with several matches between a healthy Big 3, Murray and Wawa raising their levels and going deep into tournaments, Delpo keeping up his, and continued growth for the Next Gen.

From tonight, the Big 3 has another meaning. No longer just the best three of today, but has a clear case of being the best three in the entire Open Era.

Anyway, fantastic stuff from Djokovic and I am very pleased the way it ended. Initially I was thinking what an amazing story it would be for Del Potro to win the US Open again after nine years and all the injuries he has had, but unfortunately the crowd was a big turn off, especially for someone who cheered for Lendl a lot back in the day. And how fitting it was for Novak to win under these circumstances (again) and tie the Czech's entire US Open final record. Major congratulations to him on tonight's win, and also on the entire summer resurgence that nobody saw coming. Nobody deserved it more than him after all the issues he went through previously, and I am also very happy for all of his supporters that stuck by him and remained the same throughout that period. Enjoy the night. :)

Yes, arbitrary enforcement of rules, sometimes, makes sense. For example: in car speeding, an officer may take into account road condition, weather, traffic, etc. to see what's reasonable. Also, the whole idea of having judges (or umpires) is to arbitrarily weigh everything, all the intangibles that create the actual background. Otherwise, it's a robot thing, "either or," but we are humans and like nuances.

Privilege? Please. Why does it always have to be someone else's fault? Where does responsibility for one's own actions begin? Just the system keeping her down? It wasn't Ramos who illegally coached, broke a racquet, and abused and threatened an official. Those were the choices of the individual.
Was he harsh? Maybe. But if she and her coach didn't make those choices, which infringed the letter of the rules, then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

It's like getting a ticket for going five over the limit. It sucks, and the officer is probably being an as*hole, but you can't cry no fair. The Man didn't make you speed.

Sad for Delpo and wish it could have at least been closer but congrats to Djokovic! He proves why he was many people'd favourites and looks like he is well and truly back to make life very difficult for Nadal and Federer

Congratulations to Djokovic on 3rd USO and 14th slam. He played a pretty good final, including being clutch.
Delpo showed heart, but not enough game or clutch play. should have at least taken a set.

Other than for members of the Royal family and inheritors of wealth that don't require the individual to engage with the labour market arguments around privilege are about as reactionary as they come. They imply that rights can be taken away (as any privilege can), and undermine the capacity of the "privilged" person to assert those rights. It also invalidates anything achieved by the "privileged" person as merely an inherited benefit, or one conferred by status. Serena Williams is not a privileged person in that her fame and fortune came through her innate ability and her labour. Nor is she a victim of the system in any way. On a global scale she's one of its greatest beneficiaries.

I am so disappointed with Delpo’s loss that I only want to read and participate in Serena’s threads.
The only thing that appeals to me is disliking her more and more every day, discovering new flaws in her mean personality.
Hope I can get over it some day.

His 1st serve hardly clears the net. That part needs major improvement if he wants to match 2015 Novak Djokovic's level.
