Didn't see the Djokovic match but I'm still not really convinced by Medvedev based on this match. Goffin making too many errors and the match was still fairly close. I can see why Rafa smoked this guy. Still though, i'd consider him to be best player of next gen up to now.

Medz wasn't special today, just standard coasting stuff. Goffin had some looks but drowned in own errors. The serve differential was staggering, Med 11-1 for +10 net gain, Goff 5-7 for -2. Clutchbotting by Daniil again in the final game.

I don't know if it was playing up to the level of competition, but Medvedev was MUCH better against Djoko than he was Goffin. If he had carried the same level of play, it would have been 6-3 6-2, or something like that.

It was very similar with Djokovic except maybe those last four Medvedev service points were what Djoko faced for the last 1.5 sets.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. He overcame the demon in him that prevents him from serving out matches. 15-40, second serve, he went for his life and paid off. I hope it will be only upwards from here for him.

Most important thing is that he won. Losing after that semi would have been quite a confidence killer - this maintains it.
