Let's hear some predictions guys!

I'm going to say Federer in 4... Davy will take either the first or second set.

After Davy's unimpressive performance today against Verdasco, I'm not sure he can even win one set against the Roger of today.

Federer is 3. Many reasons but he was so good against Hewitt today and Davy looked pretty poor. Also Fed in a Grand Slam is very different than the Fed Davydenko beat.

All that trash talk Davy's been doing is about to hit him back in the face. He can't handle Roger in a Grand Slam.

Trash talk? Lol just goes to show now that people are actually paying attention to Davy that he gets the same treatment for his press conferences. Really he's acting exactly the same as he always has.

The mere idea of Kolya trashtalking has me in chuckles
That was not trash talking, that's his usual interviews him being honest, and cynic.:)

Federer seems to be too good at the moment and if he continues this way, he will end up winning the AO again. I don't know, I would like Murray to win the whole damn thing, and for that, Davydenko (or Djokovic) seems to be the best candidate to proceed further from this side. Because to win a slam, someone needs to beat Federer, so why not have Davydenko do the dirty job for the rest of them? ;-)

Davy is about to find out that best of 5 is very very different from best of 3, esp in a slam against the top players.

COULD BE the match of the tournament? I think this will be a tougher task for Federer than a possible meeting with Tsonga or Djokovic. Im going with Federer in 4, because its Fed in a Grandslam, and its not even semifinals yet. Ergo, Fed cant lose it seems. But Davydenko in 3 wouldnt surprise me. If the match is long, id favour Fed.

this is going to be a tough match given Roger's results against him in recent times.Hope Rog plays well though.
Allez Rogi!

this one might as well be the final...I think federer will win in 4.
break early in the first, lose the second and win set 3&4

Federer played very well so far, but I think he played opponents that match-up well with him, except Andreev. Still, his FH especially looked great against Hewitt.

I think it's hard to call. It can easily go to either side rather quickly but it can also easily go to the distance. Davydenko served exceptionally well in Doha when they last played and I feel it will be again one of the keys to this match.

Ok fair enough. It's just easy to interpret the stuff he's been saying the past week as a bit overconfident.

Should still be a good match!

Fed in 4. Davy might grab the 3rd set. Fed's serve against Hewitt picked up - he'll be getting enough easy points to hold comfortably. Davy has to grind for everything. His flat ball gets right into Fed's zone.

Federer is lucky Davy was stretched to 5, otherwise he was in for a major embarrassing beatdown. But if Davy should win, i hope he wins the whole thing.

Federer in 5. the match-up is very even. Previous AO 2010 matches from both mean nothing. I think if Davy is mentally strong he will take federer to 5.

Roger actually wants to go there...sounds strange but he wants to prove something to himself...I hope he doesn't regret it.

One of many good, fascinating, well matched quarters...

Federer has found his form again at just the right time. Davydenko barely got by Verdasco. Even though Davy has beaten Fed the last 2 times deep in tournaments. Fed in straights. 6-4 6-4 6-4

I'm a hardcore Fed fan, and I voted for Fed in 4.

I haven't seen Federer play this good in a long while. Fed's footwork and touch was superb. Only his volleys were coming short.

But believe me, Federer's always stated he loves playing Hewitt. The reason being Hewitt's groundstrokes are never penetrating enough to do damage and always what Federer hits most clean - mid court groundstrokes with some pace. And you could see just how confident Federer was during the whole match. Hewitt didn't stand a chance.

I agree Davydenko didn't play well with Verdasco, but Davydenko is capable of VERY penetrating groundstrokes, especially the form of late - post London and early 2010. The whole match would therefore depend on the first few games of the match. If Davydenko starts well, Fed would lose his confidence and would probably lose the match.

Personally I hope Fed gets on a roll and destroys Davydenko. A bagel or two would be quite entertaining. =]

If I understand your logic correctly here: Davydenko is in such a good form that he can potentially give Roger an embarassing beatdown. Roger is lucky that Davy was stretched to five.

So here's the question - why was Davydenko stretched to 5 sets if he is in such good form? Why did he not embarass Fernando? If he cannot embarass Nando, why do you think he would embarass Fed?

If Fed is lucky to see a tired Davy (your implication), then Davy is lucky to even be in the qtrs given that he was stretched.

You misunderstand. Davydenko is in such a good shape that he deliberately went to five sets vs. Verdasco only to give Federer a minor chance.

First set will be key.If Federer wins it,then he could run away with it but if Davydenko takes it,we will see a long battle.

No way Davydenko beats Federer in a slam, especialy seeing the way both played yesterday. Federer in 3.

Fed in straights. Davy will not be able to compete due to his tiredness.

Davy gets a full day of rest to recover, and plus he's very fit. Fatigue will not a factor, it's his preparation and his confidence in beating Roger at the major.

No question both players will raise their game for this match. As someone already pointed out, winning the first set will be crucial for Roger's confidence. Davydenko will trouble him but I don't see an upset here.

I might actually enjoy it if Roger has some payback for the last two times.

Federer in 4. It'll probably be a tight match that could quite possibly go to the fifth. But with Federer's form of late I see him getting to the SF. Looking forward to a possible Federer Djokovic clash.

Davydenko looked awful in his match with Verdasco. I didn't watch the Federer-Hewitt match, but it sounds like Federer played great. Federer in 3.

Davy may have peaked too early. He started the year with a bang, stayed untouchable, but his match last night shows he's definitely not a shoo-in against a quality player.

That train stops at the next station.

If its a night match i think feds serve will be a factor of greater concern for davy than if a daytime match .
if davys form is below what it has been its feds match . he has the weapons , will he be able to use them i.e. will davys groundies be less pressing and a bit shorter than the last few times. ? we will see.

Davydenko did look vulnerable against Verdasco, but hitting against all that pace may have also somewhat prepared him for the Federer's offense, in terms of a "tune up". The difference with Federer of course, is that he can also play very good defense.

Plus, he'll have some time to recover from that 5 setter, which was filled with so many Verdasco errors, big serves, winners, and double faults. So, I would be surprised if he plays a "horrible" match vs. Federer. He'll have nothing to lose and will be "freewheeling" somewhat most likely. Yet, Federer is playing very well, so I'm thinking Federer will prevail in 4 tough sets and move to the semifinals, where Djokovic will provide the next test for him. It should be a great match, and possibly every bit as good as Murray vs. Nadal. I'm still thinking we're headed towards another Federer vs. Nadal final, but we'll see. Murray and Djokovic are also playing very impressively, and shooting for this title.

Roger will smoke Davy. Straight sets!

All best of 3 matches that Davy has won don't count. This is a Grand Slam and not some other tournament, and there is no other guy who could beat a fit Federer in a slam other than Nadal (JMDP at the USO was an only-once thing).

It's a grandslam. Federer wins. Pure and Simple. Davy has always been found wanting in the big boys club.

Fed in 3.
